Cozy and Welcoming

Every member of staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is a serene campground with beautiful walking trails. All the amenities for our two toddlers too… big pool outside, plus an inside pool and hottub. Also, a park, put-put + arcade room! Free popcorn, coffee and accessible microwave everyday! We recommend this park connected to the Thousand Trails membership.

Williamsburg trip

Although, the cabins were nice the campground was not maintained. The staff is not courteous and the prices for the stay way tooo high. We paid 150 for two nights for a primitive tent site with garbage in a can that was never picked up during our whole time there. There was also feces at one site. Looked to be human because the restrooms were so far away. The grounds are dirty and not maintained. I could have stayed at a national park for better accommodations.

Extenuating circumstances

We arrived on opening day (March 19, 2021) for the season. They had unfortunately been a victim of the rain and the main road to the campground had washed out. Alternative routes were set up to enter and exit. I understand from reading other reviews that they can routinely have problems when it rains . We were placed in a small site in front of the check in location. We were pre assigned a site and not given a choice. The mud and puddles were so bad we couldn’t locate the sewer connection. But the next day they came over and found it for us and leveled out some gravel piles that had been dumped on the site. The site was level and gravel. A picnic table and fire ring was available. The roads are a bit narrow and there are lots of trees. Plenty of nice area to walk our dog. We didn’t use or even go in the bathhouses so can’t comment on those. All in all it was okay... as long as it doesn’t rain. It appeared there were some full time cabin residents and camper residents as well. Location was great and we loved going into Colonial Williamsburg from here.

Thousand Trails

I’m not sure if this is typical of Thousand Trails/Encore or not. The location is wonderful, as far as it’s close to interstate 64 providing access to Williamsburg, Richmond and Virginia Beach. Getting to the actual “resort” is difficult, hard to find and small roads. The sites are close, many are not level, not very big rig friendly and satellite is near impossible due to trees. It is unfortunate that it feels too residential, more trailer park feel. On the up side, the staff is friendly and try to accommodate as best possible. Activities abound including game room, indoor & outdoor pools, corn hole, basketball, beautiful putt putt course and adult/child activities. Suggest calling over online booking.
