The mainland portion of the park offers over 100 campsites, 49 of which are equipped with electrical hook-ups to accommodate tent or vehicle campers.

Three centrally located bath houses have hot water showers and flush toilets.
Campers must arrive and check-in before quiet hours start at 10:00 PM. Campers who arrive after 10:00 PM will not be allowed into the park and will have to find other accommodations for the night.
Backcountry Campsites and Permits The primitive backcountry campsites are equipped with tent platforms and boat landings. Campers at these environmentally sensitive sites must obtain a permit from the park and strictly follow Leave No Trace principles. Youth Group Camping The park offers a 30 person youth group site, featuring a shaded but open area with a stone fire pit, group grill and picnic tables.
Full Service Cabins Four rustic waterfront cabins are available for rent year round. Each sleeps six persons and is equipped with three bedrooms, a common area, kitchen, bathroom, a screened porch with picnic table, air conditioning, heat, gas log fireplaces (available seasonally), an outdoor fire ring with a grill, a picnic table and ample parking. Cabin kitchens are equipped with an oven, stove, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, basic cooking utensils and service for six. Renters must provide their own towels and bedding (linens, pillows and blankets).
Camper Cabins Four waterfront camper cabins that sleep four are available during the camping season. Each has a capacity of four persons and is equipped with air conditioning and heat, electric, a table and chairs, either two sets of bunk beds or a double bed and a set of bunk beds, ceiling fan, a picnic table and fire ring. Occupants must use the campground bathhouses.

Unfortunately, there was a fire ban and extremely windy conditions, which is out of the parks control so I didn't get to enjoy it as much. From what I have experienced, it was amazing! The hike trails are so beautiful and being by the water was a complete experience! I got to see the sunset for the first time in a long time. Park was clean and well maintained. Bathroom was clean and WARM! they also have showers. They sale firewood at the cabin store but the store is only opened Thursday- Sunday

Me and a friend came in on motorcycles and stayed in the primitive tent sites and had a great time. Stayed a few weeks before Halloween and there were plenty of festive activities going on.

Great spot for families. A lot of activities for everyone. The adult pool was very nice and clean. My son and his wife kayaked and had a great time. Cape Charles is a quaint town for shopping and is only 10 min away. Only issue we had were the kids on bikes riding in front of the golf cart and cars. No parental supervision. Very scary and unsafe. Other than that it was a great trip and we will be back.

Good campground as usual. bathrooms well maintained and cleaned twice a day when we were there. Campsite is right next to the bathroom and has a good amount of shade. Bathrooms had two sinks to clean dishes. Boardwalk nearby to the beach was very convenient, however quite a few boards look like they need replacement. One highlight was watching the school of dolphins from our kayaks, not far from the beach. Never saw that before.

You can not see the water from any campsite and all sites are a little walk to get to the beach of the bay.

Annuals run the place and take up the most desirable sites. Other sites are unlevel and muddy. Coreen, Donna and other management and rangers are grumpy and less than helpful. Many rules obviously being broken are ignored, including large dogs not on leads, children running around unsupervised, fences being put up around rugs next to trailers, large refrigerators up around trailers, campers being parked and left for days at a time in order to save the spot for themself for the weekend, excessive alchole use while driving golf carts, so many golf carts. Requiring golf carts being electric by Management but they still use gas powered everything including lawn mowers. Water, electricity, and the pool do not work consistently. They have an excuse for everything there. Bad pot holes in roads. RV’s being washed by a business advertised there and spray getting on others property and cars. Noisy. Putt putt and other amenities in disrepair.

This is a wonderful spot if you want to avoid the high dollar hotel stays in Virginia Beach. There are a lot of amenities at this place, however you have to pay for some of the activities. This should be included in the price. The RV spots are not even 20 to 25 ft apart from each other. If that. It seems that this park is more in it for the money than the camping experience. That being said, there are a ton of things to do if you have a young family or just want to be rowdy. Lol. I went during memorial weekend, but I was told it's like this all of the time. The site that I had was very uneven. I had to put a 5-in lift on one side of my travel trailer and drop the tongue nearly to the ground due to the uneven pad to park on. Only room enough for one car. Overall it was a good experience, and you can't help but get to know your neighbors. Lol maybe that's what their plan was. Know your neighbors.

RangerDid a fourth of July visit and it was such a blast! We stayed in camp loop C and we had plenty of space for our 10-person tent and we stayed up pretty late enjoying the weather, laughing, and eating lots of fun camp snacks. The Canoe trails are absolutely beautiful and the horizon seems to go on endlessly. When we were there the day's canoe outings were cancelled due to weather and storm forecasts. We were able to enjoy the state parks edu series on how to catch soft crabs and ofc went out and got soft crabs and ate them at a local restaurant before we left. There are also some modest walking trails - but the main attraction are the canoe trails of course that go all the way out to the ocean for those with that level of expertise.

I have been going to VA Lndg. for years. It is very isolated, make sure you have everything you need, it's a 30 minute drive to the Walmart. Great fishing, crabbing and just plain relaxation. The bugs can be friendly at times. Unfortunately the facilities are starting to get rundown, the owner's do not like to spend money on the amenities. The boating is great in the area but you will have to go back to Quinby to use the boat ramp.

ScoutHas such potential but is very tight. Sites are one on top of the other. We were at the primitive tent site and that was extremely crowded. The sites are not assigned so it is pretty much a free for all. Campers drag benches and fire pits wherever they want which leaves some sites with no fire pit or campers hunting for benches. We were only there one night so we didn't waste time looking for a fire pit- just did without one. Would be nice if they marked off sites so that people were not right on top of you. Should also secure benches and fire pits so each site has one. Was very chaotic compared to state ran campgrounds- even for a holiday weekend. Someone showed up at 2am and setup camp right next to us. We woke up and they were sitting there looking into our tent. We just packed up and left. Gave it 3 stars because the water-park tickets are a great value and the location is awesome. Bathrooms were also in good shape- could have been cleaner but because the site was so crowded it was near impossible for staff to clean them often enough.
RangerThe Virginia Beach KOA is a nice place to stay. Plenty of things to do every day. This is a newly renovated KOA, and they added a lot of new sites. Also a new pool with a lazy River. We stayed at a premium site which provided a fire ring, a picnic table, and 3 chairs on the paved site. The landscaping is very well kept. There are some sites that have plenty of shade, but a good amount of them don’t. If you are a family with kids, this is definitely a KOA for you to check out. They provide you with a schedule outlining all of the events they will be having that week. There was a day where a few food trucks visited, including our favorite, a Rita’s food truck. They had live music most nights, which is always a hit or miss, but still fun. They have a dog park for your furry friends. One of the best parts of this KOA is the bus service that runs from the campground to Virginia Beach proper. It even takes you to the VA Beach Aquarium, which is our favorite. The bus allows you to bring all your beach gear and runs well into the evening. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at this KOA and would definitely return.

The camp store employee was incredibly sweet and helpful. It was well stocked and even had a little wildlife museum.
Our tent site was away the main loops, which was great for privacy and quiet, close to the bath house, and faced the canal. Made for a gorgeous sunset!!
The bugs, mostly flies, were a bit much and I would expect that to be worse as the temperatures increases. I think that this is the experience of waterfront camping.
Overall, the park is beautiful, peaceful and clean. We really enjoyed our time here and will come back!

ScoutIf you are looking for a beach day in virginia beach but don’t want to spend ridiculous money on a hotel then it’s perfect!
Now for the down sides…… there is an air port like 8-10 minutes away which means constant fighter jets passing over the camp from like 4-10. It’s a very busy camp ground so there’s not a lot of privacy BUT people are respectful of quiet hours. Then at about 8 am the base starts doing their morning wake up songs which will wake you up…
ScoutJust spent 5 days here and loved it. Wish we had stayed longer. They have 4 pools, lots of old shade trees that provide nice screen during the hot summer, fun activities, and a parking lot near the beach for easy access that was clutch! We are already planning on coming back next year.
