The mainland portion of the park offers over 100 campsites, 49 of which are equipped with electrical hook-ups to accommodate tent or vehicle campers.

Three centrally located bath houses have hot water showers and flush toilets.
Campers must arrive and check-in before quiet hours start at 10:00 PM. Campers who arrive after 10:00 PM will not be allowed into the park and will have to find other accommodations for the night.
Backcountry Campsites and Permits The primitive backcountry campsites are equipped with tent platforms and boat landings. Campers at these environmentally sensitive sites must obtain a permit from the park and strictly follow Leave No Trace principles. Youth Group Camping The park offers a 30 person youth group site, featuring a shaded but open area with a stone fire pit, group grill and picnic tables.
Full Service Cabins Four rustic waterfront cabins are available for rent year round. Each sleeps six persons and is equipped with three bedrooms, a common area, kitchen, bathroom, a screened porch with picnic table, air conditioning, heat, gas log fireplaces (available seasonally), an outdoor fire ring with a grill, a picnic table and ample parking. Cabin kitchens are equipped with an oven, stove, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, basic cooking utensils and service for six. Renters must provide their own towels and bedding (linens, pillows and blankets).
Camper Cabins Four waterfront camper cabins that sleep four are available during the camping season. Each has a capacity of four persons and is equipped with air conditioning and heat, electric, a table and chairs, either two sets of bunk beds or a double bed and a set of bunk beds, ceiling fan, a picnic table and fire ring. Occupants must use the campground bathhouses.

This campground is family and dog friendly and close to Williamsburg tourist destinations. It has multiple sites for rvs, tents, camping cabins, yurts, and nicer more fully equipped cabins with bathrooms. They even have a fantastic dog bath and holding kennel in case you have more than one dog. They have a pool with a sprayground and a grassy area with ping pong and corn hole. Plus, they always have activities for the kids. Love this place and can't wait to go back.

We don’t always pick campgrounds for their spacious sites and scenic views. BUT we do pick them based on the outdoor activities we can do from the campground itself via bike riding or walking. Since we don’t bring a car location is very important to us.
This private campground is in a fantastic location. Waking distance to stores, water slide park, kayaking, fishing/crabbing from bridges and Biking distance to Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge & Assateague Island National Seashore . There is even a complimentary trolley that will take you to the beach during the “in season”.
You can rent kayaks and bikes from this resort. There is a pool, jumping pillow, and playground. The water park adjacent cost an additional fee. They have 3 day passes and after 3pm packages. (You May also get a discount from KOA front desk)
The campground- tight and efficient with a lot of options for staying here from little cabins safari style tent cabins, rental Rv’s, grassy tent area to full hook up rv sites. We had a premium RV site and since we were here off season in late April- the campground was not super busy. Just expect that you will be in very close proximity of your neighbors and it will be loud and boisterous in the evening. Our solution?? Hike and Bike all day so you are exhausted. That way after dinner and a couple of glasses of wine... you really don’t care.
We came here specifically to experience the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and Assateague Island VA National Seashore and the parks did not disappoint. We biked and hiked the the parks but you can easily enjoy a lot of the sites via car. Just know that pets are NOT allowed. There are Ubers in this area. Here is a link to the trail and park map.

Beautiful area with views of the York River. Tons of cabins and house rentals along with RV and tent camping sights. It is located on a military base so access is limited to those with base access. The base is more of an industrial area with lots of traffic but some of the cabins sit back on the water so noise is not an issue.

This is a great campground that my family loves to visit. It is close to Virginia Beach so there is no excuse not to get away. You can rent a boat or swim in the pool and even enjoy the paddleboats. there is a waterpark and a little country store. I have had friends that rent their cabins or bring an RV, as well as pitch a tent. Lets goncamping!

Pocomoke river state park offers two campgrounds smaller of these is Milburn landing which is significantly farther from the coastal attractions then the larger Shad Landing. It offers level sites with gravel pads, picnic table, and lantern stand, and fire ring nestled beneath tall pines; some also offer electric, but not sewer connections. A centrally located bathroom is clean with showers and includes a dishwashing sink. Verizon cell coverage was poor. There are also a few rustic cabins if you don't have a tent iorwould rather have a more secure place to sleep.
There's a soft launch spot for canoes and kayaks near the cabins, but no swimming due to water hazards. An official boat ramp is down a road across from the campground entrance.
There's no camp store on location, but Pocomoke City, with it's big box stores, is nearby if you've forgotten anything.
It's a quieter experience here with fewer amenities, but nice if you want to get away and boat, fish, or explore. If you're looking to explore Assateague or Chincoteague, you will find the Shad Landing section of Pocomoke River is more convenient.
GuideCherrystone is located right on the Chesapeake Bay, which provides campers with lots of water activities (swimming, clamming, crabbing, kayaking, fishing, boating, etc). During the summer, this place is packed. They offer tent sites, partial amenity sites, pull-through, and full hookup in addition to rustic cabins and fully-equipped cottages. There are five pools (including one for adults-only), miniature golf, hayrides, playgrounds, golf cart rentals, a snack bar, a game room and an entertainment pavilion. Cons: bathrooms get a LOT of use, are pretty far from tent sites, and seem to be difficult to keep clean. Flooding is also an issue during/after a healthy rain. These cons can be forgiven after viewing one fabulous sunset, however.

LegendThere are two campgrounds at Pocomoke State Park. This one is across the river from the main area of the park and seems much more quiet and laid back (just comparatively, Pocomoke is generally pretty quiet). If you want all the services and to be close to the pool, choose shad landing. This area is great though. Sites are larger than average and well kept. The bathhouse was well above average, clean and new (rare in state parks). I stayed in a mini cabin, and it was a great rustic-but not too rustic option. Basically camping but not having to set up a tent. If you want a quiet camping getaway this is a great option.

Kiptopeke is absolutely beautiful. Situated along the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore, campers can participate in tons of water fun. There is a boat launch (with tons of parking), a swimming beach, a huge (24-hour) lighted fishing pier, kayak, paddle board and bicycle rentals, a camp store stocked with a little bit of everything, designated campsites for RVs and tents, clean bathhouses with laundry facilities, and miles of beautifully-maintained (easy-to-walk) hiking trails. In addition to campsites, they have one yurt (with electric), four brand new cabins, and several six-bedroom lodges. The concrete ships are an interesting piece of history, and if you look closely along the road leading to the boat launch, you might even see the old motel marquis that used to welcome weary ferry travelers to one of the only motels along their journey.

GuideWe stayed in cabin 33 - which faces the river. It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Cabins have eclectic, heat, beds, and some have AC (though not #32 & 33).
We enjoyed walked by the water, hiking the 3.5 mile loop, and the proximity to Assateague Island (40 min drive - great for a day trip!)
Truly the best bathhouse we’ve ever seen at a campground! Not only clean - but modern and new. The bathhouse area also has a great dishwashing station (with garbage disposal!)
The campground is fairly open (very little density of trees) and the sites close together. Even though the campground is small - it felt crowded even only 1/3-1/2 full. The cabin mitigated some of the noise and crowd, but I would be reluctant to tent camp here on a weekend or in any site on a holiday weekend.
While we were there in April, it was obvious this swampy area must be FULL of bugs in summer. So we’ll definitely keep our visits to spring and fall!

We rented a cabin here for a couple of days. This place is quiet and beautiful. Has so much to see and do. There is mini golf, volley ball, fishing, and a playground for the kids.
LegendThis is part of Pocomoke River State Park in MD. It is small with about 30 sites and 3 cabins. The cabins have AC and face the river as do 3 RV electric hookup sites. There are other electric sites but not all sites have electric. There isn’t water access at the campground but the day use area has access. The grounds were a mix of shaded (most) and not shaded in the middle. It was very quiet and clean. The bath house was centrally located. Ranger said the flies can be really bad in the summer but early and late season are great. There’s access to the 12 mile long Algonquin Cross County Trail that goes through Pocomoke State Forest. It’s a beautiful area!

GuideStayed at the cabins on the property and it’s been well documented that they are haunted. There is a journal/guest log and there are many stories of pennies falling from the ceiling and the rocking chair rocking when no one is sitting in it. Beautiful property.
TravelerWe just returned from five nights at the Chincoteague KOA. I got a great deal over black friday weekend for a deluxe cabin but the "normal" prices are highway robbery. We paid $180/night booking months in advance, but even with the limited amenities due to covid the price per night was well over $300.
We ran into a problem on the 4th night of our stay where the propane leak alarm sounded at midnight. We grabbed the kids and drove to the overnight guard who called the local fire department. They came, checked for a leak and over an hour later we were back in our cabin. Our kids didn't sleep much after that and ruined our plans for the following day. And of course on the 5th and final night the alarm sounded at 9:45. Thankfully maintenance was still there and switched out the monitor for one from a newer cabin. Talking to a few "neighbors" this seems to be a common problem that has been going on for over a year! The management didn't call or come by to check on us and apologize once after this happened. To be fair, at checkout my husband spoke to the manager and she gave us a credit of $100. But even with that I am still a little disappointed.
Overall, my kids really enjoy the campground and area so we will probably return. The bathouses are very clean and there are a few to choose from all with laundry. There are kayaks available to rent and a small waterpark that is fun during non covid times.
TravelerFLSP is a real Gem in the midst of a very busy Virginia Beach. The campsites range from tenting with no hookups to 20, 30, and 50 foot sites with water and electric. There are also about 20 cabins on the Trail side. The only sewer hookups are for the three Camp Host sites located throughout the Park. There are nice clean showers located around the campground. There are beaches with boardwalk access over preserved dunes. There are no lifeguards. Across the road from the campground are fabulous hiking trails, a bike trail, and another beach area on a tidal lake. The variety of activities within the Park, including Ranger led activities, along with easy access to the Virginia Beach boardwalk via the local bus system, biking, or personal vehicle, make this State Park the only place we stay in VaBeach. We love this Park so much we have volunteered as Camp Hosts for eleven years❤️
GuideWe stayed in Cabin 1 for one night to break up our travels to NC into two days. We visited Colonial Williamsburg before checking in. It is only minutes away with other activities for young kids near by including mini golf and a Ridley’s museum. The campground was very family oriented and quaint. I believe it’s been open since the 50’s and they have good old fashioned hospitality. I even got a courtesy check in call on our drive down to confirm and ask if we had any questions. I asked about late check in and they were very cheerful and helpful.
It had the cleanest bathrooms and showers I’ve ever come across in a campground.
They have a little arcade, pool and playground for kids. There were porch games like connect four and corn hole by the check in cabin to play also. I appreciated the flyers in our room listing local attractions and suggestions. They even had free donuts and treats for kids on certain days.
We loved our cabin. It was immaculately clean as if it were newly built. The door to the bunk room allowed us to tuck our toddler in early and keep her undisturbed. The A/C, TV and fridge made the stay very comfortable.
The sites are very close together but we felt like we had total privacy the whole time. There’s a train that goes by occasionally which might bother some people but we used to live by one so we liked to hear it roll by.
We plan to stay again on our way to the beach next year.
