July 4th week

Well if you’re one of the left over Trumpers this is the camp site for you. 8:00 am loud speakers blaring old trump speech’s and signs with profanity all over. We’re just a family of six enjoying camping out of state. Been here many times to find out under new management. The restaurant over over priced( Small Fries 10.00) no longer have a liquor license and no nighttime entertainment. The cabana’s once free are now 30.00 half day 40.00 full day. A nice ice cream shop with ice cream(Hershey) but no employees to service it while 3-4 women behind the office counter say sorry no one to work the ice cream counter. Last time here along with others.

First Trip Ever

The family and I were on the fence on if we wanted to start camping or not and then we found cape Charles. We rented a camper and headed out. Being that we knew nothing about trailer camping and basically showed up without anything we needed, the staff and community made it one of the greatest memories for our family. The grounds were kept clean and the camp sites were fairly spacious and very well up kept. The staff literally held my hand through everything and 100% turned us into campers. We are beyond impressed with views the staff, the location, the restaurant, the dog beach/park, the activities and the list goes on. We will 100% be revisiting and hopefully next time we will know what we are doing!

Wonderful getaway

Beach is gorgeous and clean. Sites are easy to back into and connect. Bath houses are clean but could use some bleach. Quiet at night. People were very friendly.
Would definitely visit again.

Nice campground.

Restaurant, bar, shallow water. Calm waves. Sites too close together with no privacy. Camp store was great. Rent the golf carts. Pool. Sites are not water front.

Great beach location & snack bar!

Definitely loved the view of the water at the beach and the drinks at Jackspot. You can order them online and go pick them up - which we loved. Many options including smoothies for kids!

The spots were pretty tight, but we assumed as much. The bathhouse was superb! So clean and bright/airy. The playground was just enough to keep my kids entertained. The pool area looked nice, but of course was closed as we visited in April.

Check-in was a little congested with everyone and their rigs, but the process itself was a breeze. Love the gym and arcade in the store - was unable to access due to covid.

Laid Back Beach Vibes

Very large beachfront area with lots of room to spread out during the pandemic.

They also have a separate dog beach, where my dogs lived their best life.

The Jackspot Restaurant has really good snacks and drinks.

It is super convenient that the resort staff picks up your trash for you right at your RV site daily.

Location-wise, you are not too far away from downtown Cape Charles, where you can enjoy lots of shopping, restaurants and bars.

The closest grocery store is about 15 minutes away. It’s a Food Lion and it’s just okay.

You can fishing or go crabbing right at the resort, or you can go just down the street to Kiptopeke Park and fish/crab for the day.

In my opinion spot 818 is the best spot at the resort. You have the best of both worlds, sun and shade and it’s a large spot with room to spread out.

Well maintained

Everyone was so friendly. The grounds were well kept. We couldn't find a dumpster for trash so we stopped one of the many welfare checkers(don't know if thats the right term). They explained that we put trash bags on the curb and someone will grab it. I have not seen that at a campground! I think its a smart idea, then you have a centralized location for a dumpster. Everyone picked up after themselves, the bathrooms were clean, and the beach view was SPETACULAR. Its surprisingly quiet considering the highway is so close. This KOA is definately a must to return to!

Great KOA

We stayed here for Memorial Day 2020. This place is a hidden gem although a little pricey. Lots to do for the kids and overall a great time.

Great Location

Went for a Halloween weekend, big campground, lots of spots, some of which are a little too close together. Zero shade, make sure you have your awning and/or extra tents. Nice facilities, nice size beach, golf cart rental, has a restaurant as well but did not eat there to judge it. Has awesome hammocks that look over the beach, nice place to relax.

resort camping on the ocean/bay

This campground is a resort KOA - those are campgrounds with more amenities - and we found this to be true.  It's on a peninsula that has a National Wildlife area on the ocean side and campground on the bayside. With the campground on the bayside its so close to the oceanside that the beaches still have that ocean feel - you can hike on the shore for miles.  It has a great camp store (lots of items for sale) with a cafe/ice cream place.  And it has Jackspot - a restaurant right on the beach - very yummy.  This campground rented golf carts out of which I am not a fan - but realize with it being so large some people need a way to get around.  They are usually driven by kids or drunk adults and blaring radios - we found this to be true.  We stayed a week at this campground and found that the weekends are very loud as the partiers come out and during the week its quiet great place to camp.  But I will say that the campground is great at keeping the peace and keeps the quiet hrs.  It's close to Cape Charles that has a nice beach too and lots of great restaurants (brewery and a distillery!).  We wondered why this area wasn't built up more and really it's not allowed much with the National Wetlands being right there - which we enjoyed.

New KOA

This campground was previously called Sunset Beach until this season. Now run by KOA, there have been numerous upgrades. There are now patio sites in addition to a wide range of other types. Campground sits in the Chesapeake Bay. There is a dog friendly beach, a restaurant on the water and various water sport rentals available. The bathhouses and laundry were in amazing shape. A large camp store that has all the essentials. Food Lion is about 10 minutes away. Quick tip:. Head to the aqua farm for a great deal on oysters and clams.
