Cross Rip Camp

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and swimming all draw campers to Cross Rip Camp, a privately owned waterfront campground in Deltaville, Virginia, open from May 1 through November 15. Sites sit directly on the water, with sightlines toward the bay and a large pier that works well for fishing. The campground has a distinctly low-key, older character that reviewers consistently describe as "old-school," which fits the setting along the Rappahannock River.

Campers arriving by boat, vehicle, or on foot will find full electric and water hookups for RVs up to 65 feet, a dump station, WiFi, and a bathhouse that multiple reviewers note is kept clean. The owners have a hands-on presence and have been noted for flexibility with dates and attentiveness to guest needs. Kayaks, canoes, sailboats, bikes, and beach chairs are available on-site, making it possible to spend multiple days without leaving the property. Worth noting: the area runs on well water, which gives it a distinct taste.

Groceries are limited nearby, so stocking up before arrival is a practical necessity. One reviewer put it plainly: "Not too much in the area." The forested terrain around the sites provides some shade, and a freshwater pond on the property supports catch-and-release fishing alongside the bay access. Campers who want a more developed resort experience in the region can compare options at Gwynns Island RV Resort, located southeast of Deltaville, or check places to camp near Onemo for additional Virginia coastal choices.

Great campground

Came with a group and we had 2 campsites and one cabin. Layout was great. Water views from all sites. Cabin patio was a lifesaver with the rain. Owners were awesome and helpful

Quiet campground on the water

We liked camping here. Rustic but with hook ups. Nice big pier for fishing. Not too much in the area. We did some bike rides. Take your groceries bc the grocery stores aren’t great.

Easy living on the rivah

Catherine and Rebecca are the best. They were flexible with our dates for tent camping. They provided kayaks, canoes, sailboats, beach chairs, bikes and so much more. The bath houses were clean but the whole town uses well water, so that was special. Overall, a wonderful place to camp and explore the rappahannock river.

Wonderful small campground located on Chesapeake Bay near intercoastal.

Lovely small campground right on the banks of the bay! This woman owned campground is “old-school”, which is perfect in the absolute serene setting. No sewer but full electric and water. Dump station. Lots of activities: fishing, crabbing, swimming, boating, regattas, hiking/walking, and fresh waterpond catch & release.
