Settlement Canyon Campground offers full hookups for RV campers with pets, with spacious sites that accommodate both tents and recreational vehicles. Pets are allowed throughout the campground, with each site featuring fire pits and picnic tables where dogs can rest alongside their owners. Great Salt Lake State Park Campground and Mountain Shadows RV Park also welcome pets, providing water and electrical hookups for RV travelers bringing animals. Dogs must remain leashed throughout these facilities, with designated pet waste stations available. Salt Lake City KOA maintains a pet-friendly policy with 180 sites that accommodate both tent and RV campers year-round. The campground areas have well-maintained grass sections where dogs can exercise under supervision. Dog-friendly campsites near Copperton typically stay busy on weekends, with limited cell service in more remote areas.

Trails surrounding the Tooele area campgrounds provide excellent walking opportunities for dogs, with wildlife sightings common along the paths. Morning and evening walks offer the best temperature conditions for pets during summer months when daytime heat can make paw pads uncomfortable on rocky terrain. Flight Park State Recreation Area permits pets but lacks many amenities, serving as a more primitive camping option with basic toilet facilities. Nearby veterinary services in Tooele and Salt Lake City remain accessible from most campgrounds, though advance research is recommended for after-hours emergency care. Campers should prepare for dusty conditions that may affect pets with respiratory sensitivities. Willow Park Campground and Little Mill both feature picnic tables and fire rings where pets can remain with their owners during mealtimes, though all sites require animals to be supervised at all times.

      Lakeside RV Campground

Cute RV park close to lake Utah

This place is very cute for established camping. It has lots of trees and a nice little walking trail. They are pet friendly. They have men's and women's restrooms with showers. They also have a pool for the warmer months. There are 2 small dog parks one for large and one for small dogs. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a back in spot which was very spacious and we had a good distance from our neighbor.

They have designated tent camping area. If you are tent camping they do not allow you to have pets.

Only downside is you are directly next to the Provo airport which did get active around 6 am.

      Pony Express RV Resort

      RV Heaven

My god-father and mother come into town yearly and stay at this location in their 5th wheel. The facility is spotless! Seriously, the staff keep the entire grounds in great condition. There are dozens and dozens of spots that fit just about any size RV or 5th wheel. Every spot has water and electric hookups, picnic tables, and enough grass space to setup pet pens.

There are several different amenities including a pool, playground for the kids, life-size chessboard, and a mini-breed dog park!

      Riverside RV Resort

      Very New

It is a lovely place. Nice patch of grass at the site. River and walking trail just steps away from all sites. Would be nice if the dog park was finished. There are other amenities that are planned to be available, but are not available yet. It is a very pretty place with the mountain backdrop. Lovely sunrises and sunsets. Beautiful.

      Miner's Canyon Dispersed

      Spacious, and easy to find

I didn't give Miner's Canyon five stars because of the excessive trash dumping that occurs at the sites. Otherwise it is a very enjoyable campsite. Spacious enough that your neighbors are distant, and quiet for the most part. Larger RVs occasionally run generators which can be noisy. The last time I camped there some folks buried their dead cat down by the water access. This seems to be somewhat common as there are two other pet graves located nearby. This dispersed camp is definitely haunted by house pets.

      Salt Lake City KOA Holiday

      Urban campground convenient to SLC

We wanted to explore Salt Lake City so decided to stay at this downtown KOA. It is a large and crowded RV park but right on a Transit line (UTA light rail Trax) and biking distance to downtown. The facilities are older but clean. Standard Holiday amenities like pool, dog park, dog wash, basketball court. We’d stay again if I wanted to be close to downtown.

      Sun Outdoors North Salt Lake

      Really tight

I am comparing this campground to Valley View RV park in Layton since we were there for a week before we stayed here- there is a stark difference for the exact same price. The sites at Sun Outdoors are extremely tight, the grounds themselves are not nearly as well maintained- dog park while bigger is just stone and not well maintained- smaller dog park mostly weeds.

      Mountain Valley RV Resort

      Friendly and immaculate

This spacious RV park has two pools (one limited to adults only), two dog parks (one large enough for big dogs to run and fetch), two sets of pickle ball courts and is spacious and level and nice/ oh, my.

The staff are friendly and lead you to your RV site (and actually collected and filled and delivered our propane tanks). They have a few cabins but are mostly laid out for newer RVs. They ask the age and type when making reservations. Good Sam discounts apply. This is a very nice “the only 5 star “ RV Park in Utah.

      Riverside RV Resort

      Nice and new

The place was nice and new. There is a dog park area and access to a trail which runs along the river. There is a lot of noise from the interstate and the nearby Air Force base. The only issue we had was that the street lights in the resort were super bright at night. We're glad there wasn't one above our spot!

    Guide to Copperton

Campgrounds near Copperton range from 4,300 to 7,000 feet in elevation, with summer temperatures often reaching 90°F during daytime hours and dropping to 50°F at night. Most sites in this region experience moderate to strong canyon winds in the afternoon and evening hours. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with stronger signals at lower elevations and more developed campgrounds.

    What to do

Paragliding viewpoints: Flight Park State Recreation Area provides excellent paragliding observation opportunities. "We woke up to see paragliders ready to glide. Which was cool. VERY windy and hard to drive stakes in also," shares Santiago V. The campground sits high on the hillside with mine, town, and mountain views.

River access for non-motorized boating: Willow Park Campground offers direct access to the Jordan River for kayaking and canoeing. "We were able to get a spot next to the Jordan River under a beautiful tree. We brought our 16ft camper and didn't need to back it in or anything," notes Alex L. The campground includes a dedicated boat launch for non-motorized water crafts.

Morning fishing: Little Mill Campground runs parallel to American Fork Creek with several campsites directly beside the water. "Great relaxing family time, fishing on river close, close to tribble fork and silver lakes," explains Monica B. Early mornings provide the best fishing conditions before daily canyon winds pick up.

    What campers like

Urban-adjacent locations: Salt Lake City KOA offers city convenience with outdoor comforts. "One of the nicer KOAs. Lots of amenities (hot tub/clean bathrooms/showers/dog park/trash/laundry). The truck/tent stalls have nice tall shrubs dividing them for extra privacy," writes North Idaho N. The campground provides easy access to urban amenities while maintaining camping facilities.

Secluded mountain settings: Settlement Canyon Campground provides a mountain retreat experience within minutes of town services. "You'll love sitting out by your fire pit watching the deer scamper all over the mountains that surround you," says Donna L. The campground sits in a forested canyon with wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the day.

Sunrise lake views: Great Salt Lake State Park Campground offers unparalleled sunrise viewing over the lake. "We stayed here for a night in August and it was just a magical evening - from watching the buffalo herds in the distance, to taking a dip in the Great Salt Lake, to the vibrant sunset," reports Angela C. The campsites are positioned at different heights to maximize viewing opportunities.

    What you should know

Noise considerations: Many campgrounds in the Copperton region experience significant noise from various sources. At Salt Lake City KOA, "Be warned, if is NOT quiet - there are multiple trains/sirens/large semis blowing by all night," cautions North Idaho N. Little Mill also has sound challenges: "My only reason this campground didn't get 5 stars is due to the horrible road noise. I seriously thought I was at a truck stop off the interstate."

Variable cell service: Connectivity diminishes significantly in canyon locations. At Settlement Canyon Campground, visitors note "there is no cell service at all unless you're up near the gate." Flight Park has "spotty cell service," while campgrounds closer to urban areas generally maintain reliable signals.

Dust and wind impacts: The region experiences substantial wind and dust, particularly at elevated sites. Flight Park is "very windy—20-30mph winds nearly everyday" according to David S. Settlement Canyon can be "quite dusty" which may affect equipment and comfort levels.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Willow Park Campground features dedicated recreational spaces for children. "Great trails, playground, river access, and lots of room to spread out!!" notes Jeremy H. The playground areas are separate from camping zones, reducing noise concerns for other campers.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Settlement Canyon offers regular wildlife sightings appropriate for children. "We woke up to see cows in the morning which the kids loved. Had some great areas for hiking and is really close to the reservoir," Carlee G. reports. Morning and evening hours provide best viewing times.

Facilities for kids: Salt Lake City KOA maintains family-friendly amenities year-round. "Great for kids and pets (appropriate, fun facilities). This is one of the higher-quality KOAs we've used on long road trips with a small camper/RV," writes TMB. The facility includes designated play areas and recreational options.

    Tips from RVers

Dog-friendly amenities: Mountain Shadows RV Park offers specialized pet facilities beyond standard dog friendly campgrounds near Copperton. "Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall," notes Donna H. The park includes dog washing stations and multiple designated pet areas.

Hookup considerations: Pony Express RV Resort provides full-service RV sites with complete amenities. "Convenient location right off the highway with full hook ups and nice paved sites. Dog areas, playground, games, and a pool," describes Cheriana G. Sites include concrete pads that accommodate larger rigs.

RV repair proximity: Mountain Shadows RV Park offers convenient maintenance access. "It also backs up to an RV sales and service place which I think is pretty convenient!" explains Nicole B. This proximity provides security for RVers concerned about potential service needs during longer stays.
