Clouds of Mosquitos

Only good thing about the camp is their mature trees and a hot shower. As we drove in there were huge clouds of mosquitos by the street lamps. Our spot incredibly tight and the entire camp packed in like sardines. No lake in sight! At $63 a complete rip off.

Great access to Provo & Utah Lake

Lakeside was our home for 3 nights while we were in town for Provo’s annual Colonial Festival. I really loved the proximity of this campground to Provo City—12mins to downtown, and the incredible tree coverage here. This campground is beautifully shaded and quite enjoyable for spending time outside on the grounds—even in July.

Across Center St. and behind a field is Provo Airport which is home to (I think,) smaller aircraft as they are audible from the campgrounds, though not excessive. To the west of the campground, separated by a fence is the Lakeside Storage Facility that houses a TON of petrol signs, gadgets & a few vehicles— a free, outdoor museum of gas station memorabilia from a different time. The north side of the campground is surrounded by a quite large river that you can access by a hiking over a large dirt berm. Although this area beside the river is not maintained by the campground, there are stairs in one spot and a couple of foot trails that can take you to the top of the berm. Here you’ll be able to walk along a narrow trail along the river, nearly across the entire north side of the grounds.

This campground is VERY tight knit, as most of the spots don’t have much of a yard and if you have slides you need to be careful not to hit anything. I feel we got the worst site on the grounds— J1. Our 30’ rig hardly fit in the spot and made it difficult to park our truck every day as well as making it difficult for vehicles to pull their rigs behind our spot, squeezing behind our trailer bumper and the fenced dog run. Our yard was also the smallest there, about 2’ at the widest point, narrowing to points at each end. This pull-through spot was the worst part of our experience, but I would definitely like to return.

The front office staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. I’m fairly certain that we could have swapped our spot if we had asked to do so. We used the dog run & playground nearly everyday and stopped by the pool and store a couple of times. This campground seems very well cared-for and was so enjoyable to us that we would return—however next time, we would attempt to reserve a specific spot rather than take the chance at once again landing on J1. All of the sites on the north side of the grounds (purple back-in,) looked wonderful; shaded & quiet, and a few of the sites in the east/ middle side of the grounds like B12 looked wonderful. Most of the end sites in the middle of the campground had a much more enjoyable yard-area. Had we not booked so near Independence Day, we may have been able to request one of these more “premium” sites.

I think we’d like to camp here again when we have friends or family camping with us, we can request a larger site and spend some wonderful summer evenings under the huge shade trees.

It' Not Lakeside... and it's Very Average

First of all, the lake isn't anywhere close to this campground. It's a half mile up the road, so don't think you're going to get lake views.

Secondly at $54 a night, I would have expected a lot more than I got. It's just your average, run of the mill campground with a lot of long term trailers, everything is gravel, except for the places where it's muddy. The sites were so close together, that I had to go back and request a different site. My slides would have been a foot from the next door neighbor.

The bathrooms were clean, but very dark and dated. Good thing I'm not overweight, or I would never have fit in the showers.

Finally, if you are an aviation fan, you'll love it. It sits at the end of the runway for Provo airport, a regional airport with plenty of jets (Yes, JETS. Think Delta, Southwest, American) that pass right overhead a mere 1000 feet up. Thunderous, trailer shaking fun!

All in all, it was tolerable for a couple night stay. Probably would not be back. If it was 30 bucks a night, it would have been more reasonable.

The Provo river trail is nearby, one shining spot in an otherwise awesomely mediocre stay.

Avoid at all cost

They say it’s close to an airport… Which is an understatement it’s at the end of a runway. Almost all people there are residents not campers. The staff is terribly unhelpful, the power pedestal was so loose it burned up my cord to my RV. Avoid this place at all costs

Beautiful and peaceful RV resort

It’s definitely comfortable and functional: full hook-up available! Lots of trees, right by the river and you can hear the birds chirping everywhere. It’s still an RV resort so there are RV’s everywhere. Laundry available. Wifi speed could be better. Staff is so helpful!

Good for a Stopover

This was a nice place to stopover and the rate was good. We got a partial hookup (electric & water) backing up to the berm against the slough. There is a trail on top off the berm.We were told the Wi-Fi might be slow or weak, but it was good overall. The bathroom and showers were fine overall. They could have used a cleaning but we were late in the day. The place is quiet and many shade trees, a picnic table and fire ring at each site. There is a playground.

So why three stars? First, Lakeside RV is a couple miles from the lake without water views. Second, the trees were dropping some kind of purple staining catkins and sticky seed pods that looked like pistachio shells. They got all over in our dog's fur and stuck in between the pads of her paws. The slough is a breeding ground for mosquitos. They were manageable in April, but later I suspect they might be a problem.

The staff was very friendly.

Lakeside RV Campground perfect for a quick stop!

Stan, the host, was very nice. He answered when I called to see if they had room for us and gave some pointers on traveling when we got there. The lot, B9, fit our RV and Jeep in tow. The water tasted fresh and clean and it had 30amp power with sewer hookup. Nice and relaxing place with a clean pool. 5 stars!

The staff here was great and they had decent facilities. The biggest issues were that the sites are on top of each other and the campground is close to a busy road.

Big park, close to the lake

Nice park with many sites to choose from. The site we stayed in was set up so that open space was shared with the neighboring site, The front doors faced each other. We visited in June so the cotton from the cottonwood trees was everywhere and made the kids allergies go crazy. The park, pool, laundry, bathroom/showers were very clean.

Full amenities, clean, friendly

I was an off season guest at this RV park in February. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the park including the restroom and campsites, and the amenities; market, water, electricity and Wi-Fi.

This is not the campsite you go to to be alone in nature, as there are many large RVs here that appear to be home to permanent residents. That said, it is walking distance to a state park and recreational lake and there is a beautiful running/walking trail along the river directly behind the RV park. The campground also has a pool that obviously was not open during my stay. There is also a playground and pavilion for gatherings. I suspect this is a very popular campground in the summer.

I had work to do the night of my stay and the following morning and I was dazzled by the speed and reliability of the wifi.

This campground has a quirky charm and was perfect for my one night stay on my road trip across country.

Quiet Little Campground

Cute little campground. The RV sites are pretty close together, but there are spaces with shade trees. We went in August 2020 and there were so many bugs. The campground is located right off the main road that takes you to Utah Lake so there can be a lot of traffic going down the road. The facility was clean and the camp staff were friendly and observing COVID-19 mask mandates. Nice place for a night or 2.

Quiet, fun and friendly

Stopped her for the night on our return to SLC. Family staff was pleasant and helpful.
Full hook-up site was surprisingly spacious with green space in-between and trees for shade. Facilities are clean and comfortable and camp store is well stocked. We were able to walk to Utah Lake via the state park and even found an interesting collection of old gas station signs, pumps and other road-memorabilia along the way!
Really enjoyed our brief stay! On line reservation request requires a credit card #, but return call was very quick and helpful and no charge was placed until check-in.

Great facilities, peaceful spot in the city

We stopped here while passing through Provo, and this was such a convenient and peaceful spot to sleep in the city. You're super close to amenities and anything you could want to see in town, as well as Utah Lake. It's reasonably priced and the facilities are really nice – clean bathrooms and shower stalls, clean and well-maintained sites and fire rings. I would stay here again! They book up a little far in advance during the summer though so plan ahead.
