Sunrise on the beach!!!

We tent camped on the beach and loved it all from the oolitic sand to the absolutely insane sunrise view from the window of the tent! On the north side you see the lake and the south side you see the Rio Tinto smelter it’s a really cool dynamic. We have enjoyed our stay

Glorious views

We stayed here for a night in August and it was just a magical evening - from watching the buffalo herds in the distance, to taking a dip in the Great Salt Lake, to the vibrant sunset and then a wild lightning storm, it was just an absolutely beautiful place to camp. The campsites were generously spaced and at different heights so everyone has a unique view. The bathhouse was basic, but clean. Our campsite has a picnic table with a nice shade structure. We were only a mile from the beach and enjoyed the Visitor Center and the drive into the park.

Bizarre

We didn’t end up staying here because it was essentially parking lot beside a marina. One way gave a view of the lake but the other was of a giant smoke stack (albeit in front of a nice mountain). I imagine you get used to the smell and that in the summer it would be fun to swim here. With the low water levels it’s a lot of exposed lake bed. Probably pretty sunsets though and friendly staff.

Decent spot off the highway

This is a pretty cool spot right next to the Great Salt Lake making for some nice views (sunset and sunrise were killer). The water was a little low and it made for kind of a stinky campsite. Just be aware that can be a possibility. There were only two primitive campsites with most of the other activity being rv parking. All in all, decent spot for a cross country trip, but maybe not a destination.

Fantastic way to experience the lake

We really enjoyed our one night stay on the beach at the Great Salt Lake State Park. Beach sites are primitive, however, the park also offers 5 RV sites with hook-ups. Free showers. Helpful staff.

Given the park's proximity to the highway there was traffic noise in the distance. The ability to camp on the beach was worth it.
