The lake stems from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in northern Texas, and offers little visibility, but plenty of room for boating and watercraft. The park sits on the Hickory Creek Arm of Lewisville Lake, very near to the suburbs of Dallas, Texas.
Several public golf courses are located around the lake, and horseback riding opportunities are available, too. Hickory Creek is just 35 miles away from downtown Dallas.

A cute little park with lots of picnic tables, a pier, and a huge field. The bathrooms were closed but they supplied a porta potty and the nearest gas station is only about two minutes away. Very connected to civilization and it was very well kept. Lots of people seemed to know about it, there were around 15 people who camped there last night and ten or so cars that came through for the fishing pier. If you’re a fisher, this is the place to be! The fish are active. The lake is gorgeous, but if you are car camping or tent camping, be wary about the fact that there will be little to no shade. Plenty of space for a big rig, and the whole thing is designed in a loop, so no backing out necessary! Plus all driving areas to and from the campsite, as well as in it, are paved.

My bad for not looking harder. I heard about Texas lakes and wanted to camp near one. This place is a pile of junk. Low water pressure. Trash everywhere. No picnic table. Looks like a lot of losers moved in there; grass growing over their sewer lines. Ferrell cats…. The list goes on.

Tried calling several times(during business hours) and wrote several times, never got back to me. Finally just drove there(through the rain), calling again about 5 minutes away. They finally answered only to be told they were full. Asked about other days and they said they weren't sure but to call the morning of. I said you know, I've called and wrote and left several messages- would've been nice to get a call back, as now I'm basically here. She said sorry and laughed. Seriously?! Remote dispersed. Great camping for north central Texas. The sites are a good distance between them. You can drive along the roads and look for them. We spotted 22 sites, there may be more. Download maps before getting here. Cell is not the best. No bathrooms, water, etc. Pack in/pack out. Downloadable hiking maps availability on other apps. Only saw 3 other cameras while we were here. Great hiking.

If you like a laid back approach to camping, this place is it. They advertise "farm fresh eggs" at the bait shop, and though we didn't partake, we know they were serious because of the chickens that were roaming the grounds. One of them inspected the storage bay of my travel trailer while I was setting up! We arrived about 4 p.m., and there was no one around to check in with, I think because of a family emergency of some sort. So I just picked one of the open RV lots and backed in. When I did check in later with Amy, she said "no problem" with the lot I picked. Like I say, "laid back"!

Overall good free spot right on the water. We weren’t quite level on the road but nice to have bathrooms with running water and picnic tables right outside. Sign said you can stay for multiple nights.

Pros: Great views of the water and wildflowers in the meadows. Reasonable price. Everything works and the shaded picnic tables are a plus. 5G plus signal on ATT for anything you might need online. Downsides: It looks like there could be a lot of water pooled on and behind our site with a heavy rain. The pad has definitely broken up over time and isn't level. The fire pit is also sitting at an angle. We noticed two groups of campers with 4-6 extra cars having gatherings last night, so that might have been distracting if we were right next to them.
