    Thousand Trails Bay Landing

    Decent Park

As far as Thousand Trails this is an average park. There are some full hook up sites but many are partial hookups. You pick your own site which is nice but most of the full hook up sites are occupied by long term residents or annual site holders. The view of the lake is beautiful and the park is quiet. They do have a lot of amenities.

Sites: most were level, grass or gravel. Some have a view of the lake. I sprained my knee and ankle at this park because our site was so unlevel and the mud sunk our jacks a little. Our rig weighs 16,000lbs so the Class As should be careful. The ground was soft and I came out of the RV without thinking and twisted both. Medical services are within a half hour of the RV Park.

Each site had picnic tables and fire rings.

Cellular: we were able to work and stream video easily with T-Mobile and AT&T.

Amenities: Club House Shuffle Board Pool Hot Tub (closed while we were there) RV Storage Mini Golf Hiking Trails Laundry Bath House Playground Fishing WiFi

    Mostly Permanent Residence

Not sure about the first two reviews on the RV park.  For one thing you cannot boat into this park nor is it on a lake.  It is located on Highway 67 west of Glen Rose.  It's basically a long term full time residential park.

    Fantastic!

Awesome RV Park! Manager and owner are on site every day, and are very responsive to your needs. Rural setting near Azle. Park is clean and well maintained. Safety and security are foremost, as park is completely fenced in with access via a code-controlled gate. Highly Recommend this as a great park for a short or long-term stay!!  About midway between Azle and Boyd. Country setting just a few miles from stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc. Nearby doctors, dentists, and Texas Health Hospital Azle. Several veterinary hospitals in the area. Everything we wanted for a long-term stay!! The friendliness and responsiveness of the manager, owner, and residents is a huge plus, and makes this a park with a real community feel.

    Sunset RV Park

Great for RVs but no TENT camping at all

I know I am a bit biased because I do only tent camping. But I never turn away a good RV park to check out for friends or followers who ask me for advice on their travels. This one is right in my backyard so I wanted to make sure everyone knew it was out there!!

The facility itself has a lot of sites for rigs both small and large. The owners are extremely nice and are very welcoming. As a result of their great attitudes and welcoming demeanor they do have a lot of people who call this place home long term. This place has a sense of community because people are neighbors instead of just all passers through.

It offers a laundry and shower facility mid camp and a propane station just in front of the office on the road toward the community of Sunset. There is another entrance on the opposite side along the highway access road but you will have to pull all the way through the camp to get to the office.

I noticed that for the most part the grounds are even for RVs however there are a few areas where it does dip off a bit. Some of the long term campers do not maintain their rigs to the same standards as the travelers so those areas look a little less kept, but that is very similar to a lot of RV areas which offer long term stay.

There is a store very close, although the camp itself doesn't have one but everything else appears to be in place. There are not as many amenities for the kiddos although there is a small playground here.

The campground host and the easy access to the highway makes this one a good stop when passing though this area, you can easily access it from both sides and it is easy to locate on GPS.

(Photos were taken in July so it is a bit more dry than it is during most months as we have been experiencing a heat wave)

    TIPS:

    • Book ahead of time and take advantage of any specials they might have. They currently are offering a discount on services when you stay a month.

    • Check out the proximity to the LBJ Grasslands which have hiking, fishing and boating only a short distance from the campground.

    • Closest chain grocery store is about 8 miles north in Bowie or 7 miles south in Alvord so if you aren't wanting to pull in and then have to leave you might want to get your supply stop in before you arrive.

    Tired Traveler RV Park

    No frills, safe, easy access

We stayed at the Cisco location as we were traveling through Texas. This is not an RV "park". It's more of a stop over for passing through. No amenities, no one on site. We are a 44ft 5th wheel and liked that we could pull off I20 into a spot. Full hook ups. We stayed in the back lot. The area does look run down but it's a small town, low crime. No one bothered us. We got stuck in an ice storm and our 1 night pass through turned into 3. Would stay again for passing through. If you need amenities etc This isn't the place.

Wonderful location. 10 min to loop 820. Clean and green!

This RV Camp is conveniently located between the this bustling cities of Azle and Lake Worth.

2 minutes from Fort Worth nature center. 10 minutes to eagle mountain lake and lake worth. All sites have full hook ups, easy in and out and some pull through. Green grass, trees and flowers. Site is well maintained and has a country feel that’s close and convenient to all points in the metroplex.

    A Plus RV Park

    Friendly Staff, Easy Highway Access

I have seen this place a million times living in the community nearby and never thought to check to see if they all tent campers. I was shocked to find out they do accommodate them so I passed through and checked out the grounds and wanted to let people know it exists!

There are two entries at the front of the property each easily accessed from the highway. Though they are gravel they are easy to navigate but do hold a little water in the rain. As you drive into the camp there are 4 main rows of camping, mostly in use by RVs however they do also accommodate tent campers. These sites can be picked up nightly or for more long term use so many people at this park have called this their home for a bit. Despite obvious signs of the long term dwellers, the grounds are clean and well maintained and don't look cluttered like some long term campgrounds will begin to look.

The site offers nice restrooms with showers, a bbq for general use, a rec room perfect for having your breakfast or dinner or perhaps a game of cards with friends and has connections for RVs up to 50 amp as well as a dump station.

For the tent camper sites are wide enough to be comfortable to move around and have scattered picnic tables. The tent camping sites are located on a grassy area next to the pond so they are not squished between big rigs and have a bit more privacy.

This site might not look as elaborate as some, but it more than makes up for the few things you do not have by its friendly staff and on site mechanic.

    TIPS:

    • Call in advance if looking for an RV site, they do have several spaces available but during certain times of the year they do fill up as they are centrally located to many things.

    • Check out the LBJ Grasslands which are nearby when visiting this location, a great get away for some outdoor activities.

    Camper’s Paradise

Amenities Set This Apart From Others In Area

This is mainly an RV site however they do have a few sites for tents. Tents and vans are only $20 per night with full access to amenities. RVs are $35 per night and they do make concessions for long term stay as well.

Something that sets this apart from other locations in the area is it provides a small store for those staying and also access to storage for recreational vehicles. It also has on site propane sales so if you happen to be in an RV you do not have to worry about finding supplies elsewhere.

I enjoy the pool at this stop perhaps the most. It is rare that it is busy despite also allowing non campers to for a small fee swim.

Bathrooms and showers are available in the main building however they also have a clubhouse which can be used for a fee that includes a kitchen which makes it feel like a more complete campground experience.

This is one of the most popular roadside stops in this area because of its amenities.

    Tips:

    • Call ahead for long term camping sites - also available are campers available to rent when available

    • Each site is metered for long term campers so they will have direct feed to electricity and is pay by the month by the meter

    • Store here offers a variety of household items as well as food items. If you aren't fully prepared when you arrive this store is very helpful but a little higher than marketstores

    Awesome rv park

Good rv park if you have horses or if you are just wanting to stop with your rv in Stephenville on the way somewhere else. Not really a place I would stay at just for the experience itself. Very clean. Not many amenities to speak of. There’s really not a lot to say about this place other than it has rv spots and cabin rental. It appears it is for sale right now so if you staying in the future I would recommend calling to confirm all info is correct.

    Rundown and Rude Staff

They tell you to go pick out a spot and then call it in to them. Most of the sites had no number and I told the office this. Rather than help, she argued with me and was very nasty. When I said I wanted a refund, they could not provide it. A guy finally helped me but I will never stay at this place again. Lots of shady long term residents. The whole place is just old and dated. Avoid....

Looks like fun in the summer

We arrived late  December and it was chilly. Sites with full hook up are limited, but even with annuals are still possible. One thing though, we found a great site (124 ) very close to the water which is a plus for us as my wife is disabled and needs a walker so if the water is too far it becomes and issue, but had to pay $3 more a night due to it being as they said a limited 50 amp service. Even though we are 30, still the cost is $3. With my wife issue it is a no brainer for us. All in all, the campground was quite, you can see when it is summertime, its a wonderful place to bring the family as it has a huge area for kid activities, family gathering and more.

    Thousand Trails Bay Landing

Great for large functions or small family get aways

I remember going to this place when I was younger. It seemed so large and always had a lot going on that was interesting. We hosted a summer camp here, went to company picnics and came out with friends. It was the resort type feel without the huge resort style price.

Now that I am older I wanted to check it out to see if it lived up to the hype I recalled from childhood when the pool and the boats on the beach seemed to give me life on hot summers. Now I look at things from the eye of a camper which notices amenities differently, blogs about budget travel and explores the outdoor spaces.

When I pulled in I spoke to person at the entry who gave me a basic rundown of the facility which included a small restaurant, atv area, sports area including mini golf and a pool and of course the camping experience options themselves which have grown since I last was here. There are cabins available and RV spaces however they do allow a tent in these spaces as well, of course you are paying for a full hook up site so your price is a bit more than primitive camping, which is located in a space close to the bank of the water.

This is a pretty large property!! Over 200 sites available and several cabin options so anyone trying any kind of adventure can find something they will be interested in. The price of your site covers a lot of activity space and also has some very nice shower and bathroom facilities to make your trip comfortable.

Some of the downside is maintenance! You can tell this is an older facility in way of the broken roads and potholes. Also some of the facility amenities and furnishings are in need of an update. Some of the picnic tables were in need of replacement and looked like they had been used pretty heavily over the years. Not all the facility looks like this but in he areas like the primitive camping it seemed a bit more obvious, sometimes I feel like just because you aren't wanting all the amenities they think of you as a second class citizen at campgrounds.

It is pretty busy during early summer, when I had checked it out and more so during the holidays such as July 4th, Memorial Day and Labor Day. I decided to go during the week so there was no issue in getting a canoe from the rentals but on the more busy weekends I was told it is first come first serve.

    TIPS:

    • If renting a cabin do so well in advance between summer camp, family outings and normal traffic these book up quickly.

    • Bring Cash for the restaurant when I was there their machine was down for cards.

    • Shower Shoes!! if you don't wear them in the showers already start here!!

    Cowtown RV Park

    Nice, quite, & friendly!

This was our first RV park to stay at with our new RV. We are from out of state and we’re visiting family in the Aledo area. We were welcomed at the office and check in was quick and painless. They even called us ahead to check on us and our arrival time to make sure we would be checked in quickly. The facility is a bit dated, reminds me of the parks my family traveled to when I was a kid, but clean and accommodating. The showers were in need of updated shower heads but other than that it was nice. The slips themselves were concrete and for the most part level. It took us no time to level and have our RV ready to use. The hookups were all in working order and easy to access. The pool is nice and clean, shallow for small children or if you just want to float around in the sun. It wasn’t ever crowded while we were there. There were a couple dog parks and three bath houses. All in all it was a pleasant stay. Shade is limited, welcome to Texas, but there were site with trees. We will be staying again while visiting for sure.

Very clean and well maintained park with lots of fun activities for families. There’s river access and state park access from the RV park! Dinosaur World, a very cool attraction, is also across the street. My kids really loved their barnyard with goats, a donkey, a horse and a pony!
