Best RV Parks & Resorts near Flower Mound, TX

Several RV parks around Flower Mound provide full-service accommodations for motorhomes and travel trailers. Northlake Village RV Park offers 177 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, accommodating larger rigs on well-maintained grounds. "The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from," noted one camper about Shady Creek RV Park. Treetops RV Resort features pull-through sites with 50-amp service, concrete pads, and year-round availability. Lake Life RV Resort, though smaller with just 7 sites, provides full hookups with both 30-amp and 50-amp options for travelers seeking more intimate settings.

Most RV parks in the area maintain paved interior roads with gravel or concrete pads at individual sites. During rainy periods, drainage can be an issue at some locations, with one visitor reporting standing water on their concrete pad after storms. Cell service varies considerably throughout the region, with parks closer to urban areas generally offering better connectivity. Many parks maintain security gates with access codes for after-hours entry. Pet policies differ between facilities - most allow pets but may have restrictions on breeds or require leashing. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Shady Creek and Treetops provide full sewer hookups at individual sites, eliminating the need for relocating to dump tanks.

    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    A Plus RV Park

    Friendly Staff, Easy Highway Access

I have seen this place a million times living in the community nearby and never thought to check to see if they all tent campers. I was shocked to find out they do accommodate them so I passed through and checked out the grounds and wanted to let people know it exists!

There are two entries at the front of the property each easily accessed from the highway. Though they are gravel they are easy to navigate but do hold a little water in the rain. As you drive into the camp there are 4 main rows of camping, mostly in use by RVs however they do also accommodate tent campers. These sites can be picked up nightly or for more long term use so many people at this park have called this their home for a bit. Despite obvious signs of the long term dwellers, the grounds are clean and well maintained and don't look cluttered like some long term campgrounds will begin to look.

The site offers nice restrooms with showers, a bbq for general use, a rec room perfect for having your breakfast or dinner or perhaps a game of cards with friends and has connections for RVs up to 50 amp as well as a dump station.

For the tent camper sites are wide enough to be comfortable to move around and have scattered picnic tables. The tent camping sites are located on a grassy area next to the pond so they are not squished between big rigs and have a bit more privacy.

This site might not look as elaborate as some, but it more than makes up for the few things you do not have by its friendly staff and on site mechanic.

    TIPS:

    • Call in advance if looking for an RV site, they do have several spaces available but during certain times of the year they do fill up as they are centrally located to many things.

    • Check out the LBJ Grasslands which are nearby when visiting this location, a great get away for some outdoor activities.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Holiday Park Campground

Hard to Believe You’re Next to a Big City

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground(CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77,& 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83- 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

    Thousand Trails Bay Landing

    Decent Park

As far as Thousand Trails this is an average park. There are some full hook up sites but many are partial hookups. You pick your own site which is nice but most of the full hook up sites are occupied by long term residents or annual site holders. The view of the lake is beautiful and the park is quiet. They do have a lot of amenities.

Sites: most were level, grass or gravel. Some have a view of the lake. I sprained my knee and ankle at this park because our site was so unlevel and the mud sunk our jacks a little. Our rig weighs 16,000lbs so the Class As should be careful. The ground was soft and I came out of the RV without thinking and twisted both. Medical services are within a half hour of the RV Park.

Each site had picnic tables and fire rings.

Cellular: we were able to work and stream video easily with T-Mobile and AT&T.

Amenities: Club House Shuffle Board Pool Hot Tub (closed while we were there) RV Storage Mini Golf Hiking Trails Laundry Bath House Playground Fishing WiFi

What to do

Fishing access: Treetops RV Resort offers convenient access to nearby fishing spots. "Just down the road from the Cowboys Stadium. 25 minutes to downtown Dallas and 20 to Fort Worth. Shopping options: The area features multiple shopping destinations within short drives of RV parks. One visitor at Traders Village mentioned, "This location has all your needs for as long of a stay you ever need. Propane refill station, fuel station, a store, hair shop, laundry mat, showers and restrooms. Not to mention, one of the biggest flee markets around."

Swimming facilities: During summer months, several parks maintain swimming pools for guest use. A visitor to Treetops RV Resort shared, "The park was well maintained and had lots of amenities. Quite the community feel... The staff was nice, friendly and helped us back in as we are still newbies."

What campers like

Shade coverage: Northlake Village RV Park receives positive reviews for its tree coverage. "Secluded quiet place near Roanoke and Grapevine. Would go back!!" commented one visitor who appreciated the park's natural setting despite its proximity to urban areas.

Bathroom facilities: Clean restrooms consistently appear in positive reviews. A guest at Shady Creek RV Park reported, "Very clean and well kept RV park. Close to town, but feels secluded enough. Great experience for long-term camping."

Pool amenities: Swimming pools remain popular during hot Texas summers. One camper mentioned about Treetops, "Nice pool, kids playground, exercise area, clean baths and great laundry. Staff is friendly, and you have to meet the best park ranger ever. His name is Cowboy."

What you should know

Weather considerations: During rainy periods, drainage varies across parks. A Shady Creek visitor noted, "We traveled from West Texas, stayed 4 nights, had rain almost every day. The park is well laid out, small clean well maintained yards. The paved road was beginning to break up from all the rain with pot holes."

Pet policies: Most parks allow pets but maintain specific rules. At Shady Creek, a camper warned, "Pet friendly, keep an eye on your pooch as one morning a large dog broke his/her leash one morning and attacked a lady's dog and knocked her down. She was not injured and her doggie is ok."

Reservation requirements: Some parks cater to different stay durations. At Destiny Dallas RV Resort, a potential guest discovered limitations: "Tried to book a weekend, turns out they are a monthly only park."

Urban attractions: Family entertainment venues sit within driving distance. A Northlake Village visitor mentioned, "We stayed for a week while waiting for our house to close in late March of 2020. The office staff was taking Covid very serious as it was just being ramped up to Pandemic status. Our site was reasonably priced."

Tips from RVers

Leveling considerations: Site grading varies between parks. A Treetops visitor shared, "Our spot was 171 and was very well shaded, the only thing is our trailer was level but we felt like we were leaning back. We were by the dog park but only experienced bad smell once."

Laundry facilities: Several parks offer on-site laundry options. At Wagon Master RV Park, a camper praised, "Good people, good rates, good park. Gravel sites. Good laundry and showers. North of Denton, convenient to UNT. Eat at Babes in Sanger."

Internet connectivity: WiFi quality differs significantly between parks. An RVer at Northlake Village reported, "So, it was disappointing to discover that the FREE WiFi didn't work. The office was not open due to the holiday, or perhaps Covid. So, I didn't bother to see if it could be fixed."
