The Ooak RV Park & Campground

With approximately 20 sites on gravel surfaces, The Ooak RV Park & Campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Reservations are available for stays ranging from $25-40 per night, and the facility welcomes pets. The campground sits directly across the highway from Lake Amon Carter, providing immediate water access for fishing and kayaking.

Sites cluster together in an open layout with limited shade, though some morning shade is available depending on placement. Amber C. notes that "the owners are constantly improving the facilities," with recent additions including a BBQ pit area with picnic tables. A convenience store operates on-site with reasonable prices, though hours are limited. Campers can call staff if needed outside regular hours.

The campground features keypad-entry restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, plus WiFi that reviewers report reaching 20mb speeds. A public boat ramp sits directly across from the park, making launch access convenient for small watercraft. Lake Amon Carter provides fishing opportunities, with several campers specifically mentioning the quality of angling. Feral cats roam the property, which some visitors find problematic.

For campers exploring the broader region, places to camp near Bowie offer additional options within the area. The combination of lake access and full hookups makes this a functional base for water-focused camping trips.

A small lakeside RV park with about 20 sites offering friendly staff and good amenities like WiFi and a convenience store. Site conditions vary significantly based on visit timing, with some recent concerns about maintenance and cleanliness.

What a dump

My bad for not looking harder. I heard about Texas lakes and wanted to camp near one. This place is a pile of junk. Low water pressure. Trash everywhere. No picnic table. Looks like a lot of losers moved in there; grass growing over their sewer lines. Ferrell cats…. The list goes on.

However the bar and store were cute with ice cold AC and apparently ice cold beer.

Green and clean

Great little campground. Well maintained and a very friendly staff. I wish we had more time to spend here. I would like to give fishing a try in the adjacent lake

Ok for a Short Visit

We stayed overnight here but wouldn't plan on longer just for the fact that there's not much room. The site is small, maybe 20 or so campsites right next to each other all on gravel. Pretty clean, though the feral cats are abundant. Very nice staff and reasonable prices in the store, and though their hours are short you can call if you need something. Right across the highway from the water.

Nice RV Park and Store

Nice store and RV park on Lake Amon Carter near Bowie, TX. I came out for the night to escape the virus lockdown. Full hookups available and very good WiFi. I was getting 20mb which is great for free WiFi. Store has a little bit of everything that you might need.

Friendly and quiet - not on a busy highway

Beautiful facility. Small campground, maybe 20 sites. Most of them open with no shade, although we had some morning shade with ours.  Lovely lake and fishing and very friendly staff. The food at the restaurant is very reasonably priced and delicious. We camped at Matilda's Lakeside Store & RV Park in a travel trailer.

Quiet, clean, fun place to camp or be a long term resident!

We are full time campers at this RV park and absolutely love it.  It's quiet, clean and the owners are constantly improving the facilities.  It was good before but it keeps getting better.  There is a new BBQ pit area with picnic tables that was added a few months ago.  A dog park, water filling and propane filling station are in the works.  We are right across from a free public boat ramp where we can launch our kayaks with breeze.  The fishing on Lake Amon Carter is the best. There is a laundry, shower and restroom facility with keypad entry.  A convenience store that sells excellent food.  We have stayed in many parks and this is by far the best.
