Planes, trains and automobiles....oh did I mention nosy neighbors and rude office staff? Sharon and Erika are unapproachable and judgemental office slime. Skip this place. And the pictures LIE!

Beautiful Forest
Beautiful camping sites. Very busy. Lots of families and people. Roads are very windy and curvy be extra cautious. Wish we had more time so much to explore. If you bring your dog, you will be very limited on where you can hike too. RV sites are pretty private. Bathrooms and showers look brand new. And Camp post are extremely kind and polite.

Magical
This spot is split between burnt areas, old growth, & highway. This particular spot has a camping area with a magical mermaid style water fall private to its own camping area equipped with a fire ring. It has a spectacular cliff jumping area right across from the waterfall. We did have to work around other peoples trash, local sheriff stopped by to check the area and suggested dumping trash at the group camp up the road. Tried to help with that but couldn’t pick the remainder of the trash left from others. Buried lots of human waste left from others, reminder to not sh*t by the water per forest service regulation standards. Keep our water clean. The water is crystal clear, cooling crisp & absolutely beautiful. Only saw a couple fish which seemed strange due to the depth of water available. The nearby town officials states water pollution will contaminate the lake, rivers & even drinking water during the current construction. The neighboring town is small & quiet. This spot I would occasionally receive service for AT&T but don’t place any faith in its consistency. The waterfall / swimming area made this the 4 stars alone, just glorious. There are near 5-6 other camping areas along the river, this one had the most trash because of the swimming area it’s likely more popular. Easy access, down a small dirt road, kinda secluded but still visible from street.

Beautiful spot next to the river
There are lots of trails right nearby. Easy bike or drive to town. There are some locals that go through who are loud or look like trouble but I wasn't bothered by anyone. And I am a single woman with a dog traveling alone. I had the site next to the trial and overall there was less noise than I expected. The train is quite loud when it rolls through but that was only during the day. As long as you have no problem keeping an eye on things, it's a great place to stay. I would recommend people to stay here even with kids.

This sounds like a pretty mixed experience at Jantzen Beach RV Resort. The three heated pools, playgrounds, fitness center, and river access definitely make it appealing for families and longer stays, and having full hookups with level paved sites is a real plus. I also like that the mature trees provide some shade and that the shoreline paths give campers a chance to enjoy the Columbia River without having to leave the property. At the same time, the constant traffic and airplane noise would probably be something I’d want to know about before booking. The low water pressure mentioned in the review is another practical concern, especially for RV travelers who expect reliable hookups. They closed the swimming pool a month early although it is 90f in Portland. The combination of permanent residents and overnight campers also seems like something that could give the park a different atmosphere depending on the site and time of year. The location near Target and the freeway sounds convenient, but Portland rush-hour traffic could definitely make getting around more difficult. Priced at$85–$100 per night, many long-time visitors believe the value has decreased and are opting to seek alternatives. Overall, Jantzen Beach RV Resort seems to offer plenty of amenities and a convenient location, but travelers looking for a peaceful, quiet campground may want to keep the noise and urban setting in mind before reserving. The comparison with Columbia River RV Park would also be helpful for anyone deciding between the two.

Detroit Lake State Park
Excellent state park in the Santiam pass on Detroit Lake 45 minutes from sisters Oregon. Nice sized campsites with firings, picnic tables, and paved pads. Very nice camp staff and camp hosts, clean bathrooms, and nice access to Detroit Lake although water levels are extremely low at this time of year as it is the end of September. Some road noise from the highway, but not a game changer. Nice established foliage and trees between each campsite.
