The place was PACKED, especially with tent campers," noted one visitor to Little Sandy Campground. As described in feedback on The Dyrt, "We had a great stay in Lake Thunderbird State Park near Norman Oklahoma. The park has 11 campground areas situated around the 6000 acre centerpiece lake with many tent, RV sites and some of those have full hook up." Campers frequently mention the red water of Lake Thunderbird as a distinctive feature. While some sites offer excellent spacing and privacy, others are described as being "packed in like sardines," particularly in the full hookup areas. For those seeking a quieter experience, the upper loops of campgrounds like Little Sandy provide better spacing between sites and more tree cover than waterfront locations.

This was my first time at an rv campsite by myself, and I sure lucked out with picking this one. I had read several reviews touting this place as being very well done with the nicest owners on the planet! Tamara and her husband were a highlight for sure. Tamara greeted me with the cutest mug with their logo and another was presented by Tamara when she found out this was my first solo trip! There aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am to happen upon this campground. An absolute must stay if you are in the area. Or even a destination if you’re looking for a great place to stay for a few days. They were so wonderful and welcoming I felt like I left good friends. I was only there one night!
I enjoyed it, stayed on site 16 and the last time site 15. Decent shade for the most part. Not real far from the lake. Casino less than 5 mins away. They are gravel sites. Price is not bad. At the time was $25 a night.
Stayed in site 21, I 40 noise all night and no picnic tables, the 90° pipe does not fit in the sewer as it is down deep. Place was clean and well kept. Paid $34.89 for a full hookup pull threw.
The Park is new and very clean, with a focus on providing everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The sites are large, with long cement pads for parking a long Motorhome; and space in front for a tow vehicle.
The"clubhouse" has a pool table and multiple TV's for watching sports, and VERY luxurious bathrooms with showers.
It also includes a dog park and a great dog wash for furry family members. Ice and Propane are available on-site, and great BBQ is just down the road.
It was a great place to stay, and the Owner's were wonderful to work with.
What a great place to stay! We scheduled a 4 night stay and liked it so much we stayed 3 more nights. All the sites are spacious with level concrete pads, full hook ups, 30 and 50 amp service, and plenty of space for the toad. There’s a water and ice machines on the property and also a clubhouse with a pool table.

What a great place to stay! Huge sites all with level cement slabs and 30 and 50 amp fhu. Great air conditioned clubhouse with a pool table. Ice and water machine in the park too
I came here, I usually go to BLM sites but this said it had showers, they were out of order. Staying, the bathroom had running water so... Campsites are close together but it wasn't crowded.

Enjoyed our stay, wasn't too crowded and great weather helped. Lots of wildlife at night."
Spacious sites: Many campers appreciate the less crowded areas of Lake Thunderbird. A camper at Little Sandy Campground observed, "Sites are well spaced apart and pretty level. Site selection priorities: Choose sites carefully based on your specific needs. At Turkey Pass, one RVer advised, "50 amp, water, sewer dump station on the way out, concrete pad, picnic table under the shade tree, fire pit, 5g T-Mobile cell service. Trees need to be trimed from the campground, you will get your rig scratched. We have a 40 foot fifthwheel and was able to find several sites that would work fot sat dish."
Hookup variations: Different campgrounds offer varying levels of services. At Little Sandy Campground, an RVer noted, "We had to stay at a spot that was water and electric only... The full hookup sites in the next campground over -- Hickory Hill -- were packed in like sardines."
Spacing considerations: Site density varies considerably between campgrounds and loops. One RVer recommended the "upper loop of Little Sandy was nice with all the trees and the better-spaced sites. In my opinion spot 36 is the best one. No one can camp behind you and there's a lot of space to the south."
