Heyburn Park

We had a great stay! Our first site’s electricity wasn’t working, but they promptly moved us to a close spot that did have working electricity! Quiet spot, with a good view of the lake.

Only adding 4 stars because trash dumpster was overflowing and paper plates floating across the landscape in the wind. Other than that→ a beautiful place.

Very nice and quiet located just off of Route 66. No water during the off season but the electric is on.

This is a super nice park. And every spot has a view because of the peninsula and the way they've used the shape of the hill. It's very nice. There's a dump station. There's a bathroom, it's closed. I haven't been able to see it. Cause it's winter and then two sets of pit toilets, and one would get some traffic because of the boat and the boat dock down at the end. There are 2 things that make this special one. The beach is very big, very long and 2. They have a huge atrium outside which is quite nice. I would assume big families would love to use it. Last and interestingly, you can see the 2 other campsites on the lake. But getting to the one is like a 20 mile trip. It would be faster to boat over and see it.

The site #22 is beautiful. Right near the water, quiet. But, the park didn't have a map so we weren't sure where the site was. Also, once we found the site, finding a semi-balance space was atrocious. Took us an hour of back and forth. Finally, the water was too far- 75 ft - really?! We didn't have water pipe that long so had to fill the tank, then come back to the site.

The park was mostly empty for our stay late October/early November. I believe the roads have been fixed since the other review mentioned them, it's not that bad any more. The area is really pretty and the spots by the water have an amazing view. Though several spots around the park are not very level and the hook ups are on the wrong side. Over all spot 8 was decent and we enjoyed our time at Heyburn Lake.

Lack of road signs coming in make for a lot of confusion. Need more instructions posted for the off season campers. We are not local this is all new to us.

They are not staffed for the season yet so you book online or once you get to the site you can scan a QR code to see if your site is booked. We booked online.

Not all COE campgrounds are created equal.

The road to the campground are awful! Narrow and full of pot holes. Oklahoma doesn't like the COE.

I have seen worse but this is the 5th Army Core of Engineers site we have stayed at and this is the redheaded step child.

With all of that said the views are beautiful, see my first picture.

We squeezed our 35ft 5th wheel into a weird spot because we did come from the best angle.

The map I saw online when I booked had me thinking the spot was set up different.

Most quiet time if had in years

Super close to Tulsa for a quick getaway.

We were at site 19, which is a pull through.  There was electrical water.  The pad, not dissimilar to others, was very uneven.  We were able to level the RV, but it was a bit of work.  We camped here over the Memorial Day weekend.  The campgrounds were mostly full, with a lot of tent campers enjoying an area further back from the waterfront.  Although 19 is not right on the water we had a great view and felt as if we were.

The campground offers a great swim area.  The entire campground was well attended by families.  During this busy holiday weekend, the smell of pot was prevalent.

I live a short drive away in Tulsa, but when hunting season started, this is where I stayed on the weekends. Lots of WMA land to be explored, the park is nice and quiet with beautiful surroundings and a smaller, peaceful lake to enjoy.

Stayed here for several days. Fun playground for the kids. Surrounded by water. Clean bathrooms. Season ends 10/26-no water but still has electricity. Host was helpful. Plenty of large wooded spots.

I have not camped here but go often for the lake. There are different areas to camp. The ones by the main swimming area aren’t private at all and are usually pretty full. The ones before the dam are more spread out. We love this little lake bc the swimming area rarely has people there and it’s a nice long sandy beach. We go kayaking and fishing here too! There aren’t very many boats so there is rarely ever a wake to deal with.

It's a nice quite campground ran by the Corps of Engineers. It has nice campsites that are well kept. It has restrooms with flushing toilets, showers, boat launch, a swim beach and a playground for the kids. The lake is small but great for hiking, nature watching, fishing, boating and swimming. Very peaceful and not crowded and has a lot of shaded campsites and group shelters. It is near a little town of Kellyvielle and about 10 miles from Bristow, which has a nice Walmarts for getting things you might need. It cost $25 dollars a night.

It was nice, individual spaces for tent camping. Where I was there wasn’t much for primitive type camping. Bring your own wood, but there is ample room and the fire pits have grates on them for cooking.

This lake has a great swim beach. The showers were clean and free. Boating and kayaks are fun here.
Watch for stickers between campsites, but ours was clear.

Found their gem luckily in our way from New Mexico to the lake of the ozarks. In a Corp of engineers made lake. Water and electric hook up. Get a spot right on the water. The facility is beautiful. Quiet cute little place ....bring firewood ...host does not have it even though website said he would. Great spot !

I camped with a group of 17 Vintage campers around the pavilion. It was well kept. Bathrooms were clean. Playground was great for my 9-year-old nephew. The lake was nice for kayaking. We actually saw a pair of bald eagles and noodlers while out kayaking! Can’t wait to go back. Nephew said it was the best camping trip yet!
