Primitive sites spread across this Corps of Engineers campground on Wilson Lake, where reviewers note the proximity to both water and road creates a mixed experience. The gated but unmanned entrance allows 24-hour access, though one local observer mentions the area has undergone improvements in recent years to address previous issues with unwanted visitors.

Most sites sit close to the lake with basic amenities including pit toilets and water access. Teresa T. notes "some of the primitive spots are very nice" and describes it as typical for Corps sites, though she points out they're "low close to the road." The campground offers drive-in, walk-in, and boat-in access options, making it versatile for different camping styles.

Reviewers consistently mention the cleanliness of the facilities and the quiet atmosphere when crowds are light. The setting provides lake access for fishing and boating, though campers seeking more security and full hookups will find a staffed RV campground less than a mile away.

For those wanting additional amenities, Heyburn Park sits just over a mile southwest with more developed facilities.

Small primitive campground right on the lake

I agree with the review right before mine. It has water pit bathrooms. Some of the primitive spots are very nice. It's what you expect in a corps of engineer site. Low close to the road, but all in not bad. If you want more services less than a mile away is the R. V campground which is very nice.

Depends on the Time of Year

I write this review as an observer.  I live in the area.  The park is gated (un-maned) and access is not restricted.  There is a outhouse with water.  They have made some improvements in the last few years but this area used to gather a lot of riff-raff.   The other camp located just a short distance away is gated (Maned) and the sites all have water and electric.  If your on a budget this place is great.  If you want to feel a bit more secure, I recommend the other camp!  I would not recommend this as a family vacation site.
