My new favorite!

We spent a weekend here and we loved it! Our site was spacious and backed up to a little ravine so it was fairly private even though it was right next to the bathrooms (also convenient). We weren’t far from a hand pump water spigot, either. The host was friendly and attentive and made rounds…

A restful blend of beach and spruce

Last weekend, our family stayed at White Lake State Park for four days. While initially drawn to the campground because of its proximity to Chocorua, one of the most rewarding hikes in the Whites, we barely left the campground. We spend our days enjoying the park's pleasant beach and clear water.

  • Lots of hammock opportunities!
  • Level campsites equipped with fire rings and nice picnic tables
  • "Camp clean" bathrooms -- a little grimy but not gross

Quick stop spot

We stopped here quickly on a road trip... good thing we didn’t need to stay. Campground is sandwiched between a railroad track and highway. Don’t expect a nice quiet nights sleep! Train came trough twice through the night.

Bathrooms weren’t really clean but usable. Had a pool to cool off…

5 stars if they allowed dogs

What a beautiful location! If you plan ahead and get a water front site it’s amazing... but all the sites are roomy and lovely to camp at! I went one summer on the way to Maine and loved everything! Kayaking, swimming area and hiking were all 5 stars! Tried to plan ahead this year and get a…

Charming small site on the river

Such a nice well cared for campground. 39 sites with a combination of RV full hookup to primitive tent sites. Beautiful setting on a small babbling river and plenty of trees for shade. A camp store has almost anything you could need. The owners could not be more friendly and helpful. There is a…

Great Family Campground

Every summer, we would take the kids camping for a week at White Lake State Park and we all loved it. There’s a great beach with lots of room and a big Sandy swimming area. You can rent canoes, hike around the lake, and the kids could safely ride their bikes around the campground. There is a…

Wooded and quiet

We loved Moose Brook State Park Campground. There are many wooded sites and lots of very private ones too. Some sites rim a grassy field. There’s a newer bathroom with hot water, showers, and a dishwashing station. And the location is perfect for hiking the Randolph Trails or Appalachia.

Wonderful family spot

Owners are so nice. Camping spots are a bit cramped. We have a huge tent. But everyone was. Super nice. Kids had a blast with Friday and Saturday movie nights.

Most RVs, not a lot of privacy

90% of the campers are RVs here. They have sites along the river and a more wooden tent area as well. We stayed at the wooded tent area. I wish camp security would patrol more often as some campers would play excessively loud music throughout the weekend.

The river sites are pretty close together…

  • Fire ring has some wear and tear.

Perfect!

Small and quaint. This was such an adorable perfect campsite. Lots of seasonal campers who are all super friendly and helpful. Made some friends in day one and hope to be back at some point if not this summer then definitely the next! Truly “family camping at its best” as the sign says! Small rec…

Riverside Paradise

Most amazing spot I’ve ever camped and not too many people. Used the tent sides a quick hill walk down from the parking lot. River great for splashing around and nearby path to Lincoln Woods trail.

Cute Campground

Loved this campground. Located in Bear Brook State Park, the campground is tucked away in the woods so you really feel like you're away from the cities in the area. The campsites were very cute, and there is a camp store that has very friendly and helpful staff for anything you need. I didn't get…

Campground under new ownership

Hello! The Desert of Maine Campground changed ownership in the winter of 2018-19. All of the reviews of this campground on The Dyrt are from before a complete renovation by the new owners (me and my wife, actually). We are anxious to have as many users of this platform look at what we have done and…
