Terrible

I am not one to give a Terrible review. However I booked two kayaks and upon arrival at 9am they said it was a first come first serve ordeal. I was not camping there but rented kayaks. They then charged me the rest of the fee then said well there are actually 2 groups ahead of you. Well wait I thought it was first come first serve but now after they take my money they said there were 2 groups ahead and it would be a 1 and half hour wait. At that point I had gone to another place up the rd and called and canceled within 20 minutes I told them to keep my deposit but to re- fund me the charge of the rentals. They wouldn't. I will never recommend or ever use them again. They definitely choose favorites and I am extremely disappointed with them.

Nice people all around!!

We stayed at the one of the sites on the pond- great sites excellent breeze off the pond… I was worried it might be a buggy pond at this point in the season but it was beautiful. Very nice family- showers laundry though no dish washing sink so prepare to wash on your site- everything very clean!

Cute Campground on the River

This is another cute campground with several other private ones in the area. It is right on the river and provides easy access along with rental options if you want to just bring you camping gear. The sites are nice and easily accessible with all the amenities we come to expect. It is also such a nice quick drive up from Portland it is highly worth checking out. If you are in the area I also suggest taking a trek up to Pleasant Mountain via the southwest ridge trail. It is a trek but well worth the views at the top.

Camping right on a lazy river. Great for large groups.

We camp here each year with about 15 friends. We book 3 sites next to each other, right on the river. The sites are large and spaced out well. The river is great for swimming. You can take a kayak or tube trip by putting in upstream and floating back to your own site. Definitely a party scene on weekends during peak season—lots of large groups making noise, not quiet wilderness. But also have camped here on weeknights and found it quiet and peaceful.

Secluded on the saco

First time I camped out here I didn’t realize how secluded each site was! It was great. However that means everything is a decent walk away. The pit toilet style bathrooms were as expected. The showers were nice and the main bathhouse bathrooms were clean. The river is right there and great to sit next to and just watch go by. The canoe service was great. It’s more of a party-type than a family type place, but we weren’t partiers and they were far enough away it didn’t bother us. The bugs were horrendous though!
