    Overview

Davis Lake Recreation Area is home to beautiful Davis Lake, Campground and Day Use Area, popular for all kinds of recreational opportunities, including swimming, fishing, boating, birding and wildlife viewing. The surrounding scenic forests make Davis Lake a picturesque place to spend quality time outdoors.

    Recreation

Davis Lake covers 200 acres and provides multiple recreational opportunities. A grassy swimming beach is situated on the shore, where many anglers cast for largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish and bream. The campground has 14 sites on the lake, many of them with space to anchor a boat. A 2-mile trail wanders along the north edge of the lake to several earthen fishing piers. Visitors can also spend time birding, watching for a variety of geese and ducks that migrate through the area. Hawks, herons, bluebirds and doves are also plentiful, among many other species. Wildlife viewing is also available, as foxes and bobcats call the area home. The Chickasaw OHV Trail is a newly renovated 12-mile motorized trail that is within three miles of the campground. The trailhead lies between the Davis Lake recreation area and the Natchez Trace Parkway. It is within a mile of the Owl Creek Mounds archaeological interpretive site. It is open between April 1 and Oct. 31, for hunting. The trail accommodates off-road vehicles 48-inches in width or less. Cyclists and hikers will enjoy the Tanglefoot Trail. This multiple-use Rails-to-Trails path is located 5 miles west of Davis Lake. It runs 43.5 miles from Houston to New Albany, MS through Houlka, Algoma, Pontotoc, Ecru, and Ingomar.

    Natural Features

The campground is situated in a hilly, mixed hardwood and pine forest that stretches along the eastern shore of the lake. It is located within 4 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway, a 444-mile drive through exceptional scenery and 10,000 years of North American history.

    Overview

Blue Bluff Campground and Recreation Area, on the Aberdeen Lake section of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Mississippi, is one of the most scenic recreation areas on the waterway. The area is located just north of Aberdeen and boasts both a campground and day-use area. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts visit the area each year for picnicking, fishing and swimming.

    Recreation

Families can swim at the facility's beach, play on the multi-use court and walk along the wooded waterfront. Anglers can try their luck on the accessible fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish. Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species at designated hunting areas along the waterway.

    Natural Features

Blue Bluff is named for the beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the park on the eastern side. The bluff rises 80 feet above the water and provides a lofty view of Aberdeen Lake and the nearby lock and dam. The waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama and connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.

    Nearby Attractions

A tour can be schedule at the Aberdeen Lock and Dam next door, which provides an opportunity to watch barges and other recreational boats go through the lock on the waterway. The town of Aberdeen, just from minutes from the campground, has various amenities, tours and events. Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is a 45-minute drive north.

    This is a beautiful park!

We loved the park. Great for walking our dogs. The only issue was the poor road maintenance in getting to our campsite. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

    Labor Day weekend

From the get go at checking in we noticed how laidback and friendly the staff was. We stayed in #26 which has an incline to park the RV which wasn’t a big deal for us. We liked that on the passenger side are view was woods with the lake. The restrooms could used an updated for sure but still very usable. Fishing off the fishing docks was great! Spacing between sites is decent with trees between at most sites. Very friendly family quiet campgrounds.

    Gate locked after hours

Arrived at the park a little after 11pm and the gate was locked with a sign saying “Closed 10pm-6am.” On the website it said “first come first serve.” Very disappointing, ended up driving another 30 min and booking a hotel.

    Perfect Layover Dog Friendly

It's the perfect place to stop while traveling through. There are spacious spots, a short nature trail, a swimming area on the lake, and one good restaurant just down the road.

    More rural campground area

This might be one of my favorite places to camp on Enid lake. It is a favorite for many locals and more off the beaten track. Has showers bathrooms playground boat ramp and beach for the campers and picnickers that come to the lake. RV spots with or without full hookup. Reservations available online

Decent campground, disappointing shower and bathroom

Small, quiet campground on reservoir. Plenty of space and privacy between sites. Concrete pad was level and ample. Any size rig could fit into these sites. Each site has its own garbage cans. Water and electric at each site. Dump station in campground. Verizon signal was good. Bathrooms had prison style toilets and showers were functional but dirty. Showers were in dire need of repair to floor and deep cleaning. Bathrooms were maintained daily but not adequately cleaned. No soap in bathroom, only air dryer for hands, no paper towels, no garbage can in bathrooms. There were unattended dogs on leashes/in crates at a couple of sites that barked aggressively when people passed by. Owners were absent for good part of day. Nearby lake access road passes right by campground is routinely used by locals. Not staffed by COE official.

    Wooded sites, clean

Stayed on a weekend in March. Campground was about 80% full. Bath and showers were clean. Concrete pad with adjacent gravel area for screen room, tent, etc. Laundry facilities were closed during our stay. Paved bike trail nearby. Limited walking trails within the campground. One dump station and trash collection area near the check-in. Good Verizon signal.

    Quiet and plesant

They have large flat sites. Some with full hookup some just P/W. Reserve on line. We were there in Feb not busy at all. COE was responsive to bathroom cleaning issue. Host was very friendly. Camp ground is very clean but went for a hike along the shore and the trash was off the chart!!!

A lot has changed since some of these reviews

This seems a very typical NFS campground. Lots of spots some with electric and water and a number which are primitive. It is rustic. The electric service has an open ground situation so my camper wouldn't take it which was fine but a lot of the year could be an issue. There are bathrooms and private showers. I did not need or use the facilities but they were clean and seemed functional. I am literally the only camper here which frankly I think is wonderful. Tons of places to walk and a lot of nice views of the lake. I will definitely be back and use it for an overnight on my way out or back to my winter location.

Nice park with 3 loops and a few short trails. Reservation on recreate.gov and my spot was $30 a night which feels a bit steep but seems to be the going rate. The spots are not private at all but there are trees.

Off the beaten path. Power and water available for reasonable price. Walking the property was fantastic for us and our dogs. We were fortunate to be there on the last Saturday of the month, when they host a dinner and live music. With just 7 of us, including the 2 hosts and the musician, it was a very neat experience. Even had a “sing along “!!!! This is why we love Harvest Hosts. You would never get an experience like this anywhere else.

The campground was full for the fall holiday. However, the energy was great. It was our first time at the park. The hosts were very helpful. The showers and bathrooms are dated but clean. The best views are located on the water in the lots 80-85. Level spaces and easy to back in.

    Creepy Experience

Nice weekend, great weather, few bugs. The bathrooms were decent for campground bathrooms. Plenty of firewood to forage. Campsite was relatively clean. Neighbors were very close and made it hard to feel like I had any privacy.

I ended up leaving early because of a creepy experience with a man who made me feel uncomfortable…even unsafe. Crappy ending to an otherwise great weekend.

    Small but quiet and cheap

Small campground attached to a public use park. Gated after dark with older but usable bathrooms and showers. Has a splash pad, a basketball court, and several piers on the lake for fishing. You can hear cows in the distance from across the lake.

Can’t beat the price at $22/night. We stopped in for a night in our teardrop trailer on our way farther up north.

Tupelo is 30 minutes away with the Elvis Birthplace museum and other attractions. There’s a gas station at the entrance to the park for snacks and ice.
