    Shade tree RV

If peace and quiet had an address… this would be it.

“Shade Tree RV Park is truly a hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful wooded area in Guntown, Mississippi. It’s peaceful, quiet, and the scenery alone makes it the perfect place to unwind. You can tell this park was thoughtfully designed with everything you need—30/50 AMP service, full hookups, electricity, water, reliable WiFi, clean restrooms, and it’s pet friendly too. Everything is set up to make your stay comfortable and easy. It’s conveniently located in Northern Lee County with quick access to several nearby towns, which makes it perfect whether you’re working in the area or just passing through and exploring. What really sets this place apart is how safe and welcoming it feels. With security cameras in place, you can truly relax and rest easy. And the owner goes above and beyond—super friendly, accommodating, and genuinely cares about the people staying there. If you’re looking for a spot to park your RV, kick back, and enjoy some peace and quiet, I highly recommend Shade Tree RV Park. You won’t be disappointed.”

    Piney Grove Campground

This is one of the best!

We reserved a waterfront spot, but our rig wouldn’t fit despite the website saying so, no biggy though. Was able to swap spots and enjoyed our stay. Very nice park, nice beaches and great for walking pets. Most amenities were closed for the season/ COVID. Great staff. We had few bars (Verizon) and no service on t-mobile. Overall great experience, can’t go wrong with any spot.

Oak Grove (MS) — Sardis Lake

    Nice COE Campground

Mississippi does a great job of maintaining their COE campgrounds. Nice, spacious spots underneath large Pine trees. Water views and access to the Lower Lake. There is a popular swim beach, boat launch and boat dock. The spillway is also close by for fishing. Do not get this park confused with the John Kyle State Park Campground that is directly next to this one. This park is much nicer!

    Davis Lake Campground

The locals like it - and that’s a plus

This is the first campground we have stopped at this week that had more than one other camper. I’d guess they were 70% full.

Most of the folks we met were local, here for a weekend away and outdoors. Lots of families with kids. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming.

The camp host came by just to say hi and see if we had questions.

We had decent phone service, but slow at times.

Some spots had good shade, some didn’t. Many backed up to the water and none were a far walk from water access either bank or dock.

Only 4 miles from the Natchez Trace. Not sure what amenities are available in nearby Houston, but Pontotoc had plenty of provisions. Not super close, but doable.

The lake itself - muddy brown water and not too much to look at it. But in fairness, it still is winter.

Looked like primarily a fishing lake, but I don’t hold a MS fishing license, so I didn’t try any.

    Wall Doxey State Park Campground

    Abounds in charm and hospitality

My stay won't likely be like yours. First, I drove in while Mississippi was under a blanket of snow. All the roads in Holly Springs and the rest of the state were treacherous with packed snow and ice following a week of unseasonably frigid weather across the southern midwest.

That said, the 2 rangers working at Wall Doxey went out of their way to set me up with a parking place in the practically empty campground, putting me in the youth camp, finding me an extension cord to hook up to power and allowing me access to the group camp for a bathroom and shower.

This was necessary because many areas were either in the middle of renovation, inaccessible or out of service due to frozen pipes. To say these ladies went out of their way to get me situated is an understatement. They were heroines!

The camp has loads of retro charm. A big mid-century lodge, picnic area, swimming lake, frisbee golf and a 2 mile hiking trail around the lake. I enjoyed a walk thru the snow and the comfort of having a safe and caring place to stay during my trip through Mississippi.

I suspect it will be the same for you even if your visit is under far different circumstances.

    Whitten Park Campground

    Gorgeous and well-kept

The campground in Jamie L. Whitten Historical Center is easy to find close to the highway. Staff at the entrance was very friendly and helpful. The site was PERFECT: level concrete pull-thru big enough for our 40' rig and Jeep, adorable picnic and firepit area overlooking the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway peeking through the beautiful trees. Hookups right where you needed them. And lots of beautifully maintained trails through the woods for walking our dogs. Two thumbs up!

    Whitten Park Campground

    A Tombigbee View

Our 3/3/21-3/6/21 stay at Site 60 provides easy access to a fishing pier, walking paths and enjoyable sunsets. Sites are a comfortable size and located with adequate forrest canopy that provides shade for most. We enjoy several afternoon paddles on this stretch of river.

Outside the campground entrance the Underground Railroad Bicycle Trail goes along the road and continues to the lock for walking and peddling.

    Howard Stafford Park Campground

    Small tidy county park

With less than 20 sites this is a small comfortable campground with full hookups. 30 minutes to Tupelo or Oxford, this place splits them down the middle. The site is a level concrete pad with 50/30 amp, water and sewer. The campground is next to a big county park with a playground, boat ramp and fishing docks. Nice walking paths along the lakes edge provides a great place for a view of the sunset. The camp manger is a nice as could be and reached out after I left to return something I left behind. A great small park easy to get to.
