Best RV Parks & Resorts near Oxford, MS

Oxford area RV parks offer various options for full-hookup camping, with both private and public facilities available. Chewalla Lake Recreation Area, located north of Oxford, provides RV sites with water and electric hookups, though sewer connections are not available. Several commercial alternatives exist closer to town, including Rebel RV Park with full hookups and Roundabout Oxford RV & Water Resort featuring 170 sites with 50-amp service. Sites vary significantly in terms of leveling and spacing, with concrete pads at some locations and gravel at others. "Small sites. 15, 30, and 50 amp hookups. Has water and sewer. Sites do not look to be level but are surprisingly, really-really level."

Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Enid Lake provide additional options with concrete pull-through RV pads at more affordable rates. Wallace Creek offers full hookups including sewer for approximately $20 per night, though some sites may not be level and require careful selection. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger Verizon coverage reported at Chickasaw Hill campground. Most RV parks remain open year-round, though Chewalla Lake operates seasonally from mid-March to mid-November. Dump stations are available at most locations, though Pat's Bluff has had reports of access issues. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard restrictions, and propane refill services are limited in the immediate Oxford area, requiring trips to larger towns for resupply.

    Sun Retreats Horn Lake

Clean and well maintained with lots of activities

This is a huge campground and the price for a spot was at least double what we would pay elsewhere (nearly $100). We weren’t able to get a campground at Tom Sawyer and the reviews were all over the place for the rest of the Memphis campgrounds that we decided to go ahead and splurge on this one.

This was our first Jellystone and I was shocked at how many campers the campground accommodated - there are RVs everywhere. Most of the amenities and services are located at the front of the campground and includes a store and propane, playground, dog run, pool, showers and laundry, gold mining station, and sports courts (basketball, Gaga ball, and basketball). Further back in the campground, was another playground and dog run and a really cute little lake.

We were staying off-season so there was no activities and they actually deflated the jumping pad, but my kids still had fun and I could see this campground either being a blast in the summer or being a nightmare because of too many people. While we were there, I saw almost no children and several of the camper sites looked like the guests were staying long-term. For a campground that is marketed towards families, the demographics were a bit strange.

That said, it was super clean, well-organized, the landscaping and sites were maintained, everyone was friendly. We got two loads of wash done and my husband said the showers looked good. There were some restaurants and a Walgreen that looked like they delivered to the campground. WiFi worked and they had cable tv.

We reserved a basic site, but for more money you could get a site with Adirondack patio furniture and there were plenty of cabins as well. We reserved same day online and they have a system for late check-ins.

I’m definitely giving Jellystone another go - but next time during the summer. I’m not sure whether this campground is a good base for exploring Memphis - I think if you had a car it would probably be fine as it’s only 20 minutes or so.

    Serenity RV Park

    Newer RV Park

We heard about this new RV park through a blog email and decided to check it out. Following our GPS from I-22, we had no trouble finding the campground (CG).  We arrived at 3:00 PM to find the office closed, with a sign on the door indicating they would return at 3:30. Although we had prepaid for our reservation, we had not been assigned a site number. We called the contact number and left a message. A few minutes later, we received a call back with our site number and were informed that we could proceed to site 26 and check in once the staff member returned from lunch. Site 26 with FHUs is 1 of 6 pull through cement sites in the CG. The 4 back-in sites are cement pads. The pad was spacious, providing ample room for our 40’ fifth wheel and F-450 truck. There are two sewer connections on both cement and gravel sites, which is a nice convenience. Water and electric hookups are centrally located on the pad, though the electric connection sits low to the ground, requiring us to bend the surge protector to plug in. The water pressure was adequate at around 40 psi. The CG Wi-Fi worked well for basic tasks such as email and web browsing, including Facebook, though we did not attempt to stream. Facilities include a clean shower and restroom area, as well as a laundry room equipped with four washers and four dryers, each costing$3 per use. During our visit, the small dog run was unavailable due to maintenance or AstroTurf installation. A small playground is located adjacent to it. Most of the sites are pull-through, with a few back-in sites near the cabins. There is highway and train noise, but not too bad. The office carries a selection of snacks, drinks, and some RV essentials. Overall, the CG is a few miles west of Tupelo, with limited attractions nearby. While it offers good amenities and a convenient layout, the remote location may not appeal to those looking for nearby entertainment or dining options. This CG worked well for our overnighter.

    Persimmon Hill(enid Lake)

    Persimmon Hill Campground

What a great park. Or should I say another great COE park. This is the cleanest park we've seen. Very big rig friendly with large concrete pads with a little extra room for a boat or toad. Great vieas of the lake, which is said to be one of the best crappie lakes in the United States.$20.00 a night for full hook up and the geezer card bring it to$10.00. Can't beat that! Both ATT& Verizon came in strong. Did not try OTA TV. Shower facilities were also great with plenty of hot water and very clean facilities. Although you can hear Hwy 55 on a clear, calm night the route to the park isa bit tricky, as a bridge is out. But should be completed by this spring, I was told. Will definitely return. But keep in mind, we stayed a couple of days and left before the weekend. A quick walk around the park showed almost every site was reserved for the weekend starting Thursday. A popular park and worth it.

    EZ Daze RV Park

    Clean, concrete pads, good showers.

Ez Daze RV Park, Southaven, MS - We stayed one night in November. Easy pull through, level concrete site so we didn’t have to unhitch, very clean bathrooms and showers. They have two regular shower stalls which are extremely shallow and one ADA stall with pull down bench. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff because as soon as I walked in, about 4p, I was directed to find my site information outside in the after hours arrival box. Great if you’re looking for contactless registration or do in fact arrive after hours. There was debris in our space that must have been left by the previous camper and we had to get out and clear it before we could pull into the site. Appeared to be large broken pieces of a heavy plastic bumper. (Reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Strong wifi, cable reception wasn’t great. Code to the bathrooms, which is appreciated especially as the park is located in a business area and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Asphalt in front of office in extremely bad condition so be careful as you drive through. Nice office. They have plenty of long termers and there are two large receptacles outside the front office for package delivery. The park is easy access from I-55 and sits next to several RV dealers. Great place to stay if you want to have a look at some new trailers or motor homes. Also, a Tanger Outlet is just down the road. Full hook up, 50 amp site was $70, 63.00 with our Good Sam card which we think was a bit pricey. Oddly, there was only one trash receptacle in the entire park.

    Davis Lake Campground

    “Literally lake front camping!”

Davis Lake Recreation Area is situated just 4 miles from the Natchez Trace Parkway. The campground is adjacent to the Eastern shore of the 200 acre Davis Lake. 14 sites are right on the lake front offering spectacular sun rises and evening sun sets, The lake is known to anglers, and wildlife and birds are a given…we had a Great Blue Heron"friend" during our entire stay. The sites were level, paved, and all had nice spacing, picnic tables, fire pits and well cared for electric service (50 amp) and water. Bathhouses were clean and laundry was available. Dump Station. Plenty of historic places to visit in the area and groceries are available in Houlka just 4 miles away. We visited in late September with only 6 sites in use…felt like we had the place to ourselves…and being located in the Tombigbee National Forest there was no light pollution making the night sky a spectacular sight to see.

    Howard Stafford Park Campground

    Small tidy county park

With less than 20 sites this is a small comfortable campground with full hookups. 30 minutes to Tupelo or Oxford, this place splits them down the middle. The site is a level concrete pad with 50/30 amp, water and sewer. The campground is next to a big county park with a playground, boat ramp and fishing docks. Nice walking paths along the lakes edge provides a great place for a view of the sunset. The camp manger is a nice as could be and reached out after I left to return something I left behind. A great small park easy to get to.

    Sun Retreats Horn Lake

    Fantastic campground

We were long term at this campground for 7 months. The staff was outstanding, the park was clean and well-kept, and the monthly rates were reasonable. We loved our stay here! We actually stayed from December 2020-July 2021.

    Trace State Park Campground

    Family friendly, single mom approved.

Camped for two weeks in mid fall, October 2020. Full hookups, clean bath house. Family friendly. It is dated though. Play area available, small and quant. Roads are drivable of course but need to be funded, come on Mississippi and step up.. 15-20 minutes from a supercenter on West Main Street in Tupelo. Tupelo is lovely and where we actually live. This is the nearest campground my children 13, 10, and 4 stay at. The 4yo loves is, hiking and bike riding is what the older kids do. Nice lake for fishing, no swimming or wake.

Site we stayed at was level, and fully shaded.

    Travelers Camper Park

    Long term camping

This is more of a long term RV Park. Great for people that travel for extended periods of time for work or if you need a last minute place to pull over and sleep for the night. They are pretty full, but had a couple of open spots.

Full hook ups and laundry facilities on site. 2 miles to the interstate and a gas station.

Guide to Oxford

RV parks in Oxford, Mississippi provide travelers with easy interstate access while offering essential modern amenities. Located in Lafayette County with elevations averaging 500 feet, the area experiences hot summers and mild winters with average rainfall of 53 inches annually. Unlike many northern Mississippi campgrounds, several Oxford facilities remain operational year-round rather than closing during winter months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: George P. Cossar State Park Campground on Enid Lake offers lakeside sites where you can fish directly from your campsite. "Lakeside sites would allow for boat pull-up within view," notes one visitor. The park includes a boat ramp for easy water access.

Disc golf course: George P. Cossar State Park features a well-marked course that has improved over time. A reviewer mentions, "There is a Frisbee golf course that has gotten better over time. The course is now marked very well." The course layout accommodates various skill levels.

Miniature golf: Families can enjoy the mini golf course available at Cossar for $4 plus tax per person. As one camper notes, "Yokona ridge has a great playground for kids with the putt-putt golf course a short walk away. 4$+tax per person to play." While the facility is described as "old" by some reviewers, it remains popular with younger visitors.

Splash pad access: Howard Stafford Park Campground includes a splash pad as part of its public park amenities. A recent visitor observed the park includes "a splash pad, a basketball court, and several piers on the lake for fishing." The facility provides good value at $22 per night.

What campers like

Affordable pricing: Many Oxford-area RV parks offer competitive rates compared to similar facilities in larger cities. One camper at Howard Stafford Park commented, "Can't beat the price at $22/night. We stopped in for a night in our teardrop trailer on our way farther up north." Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Enid Lake likewise provide economical options.

Concrete pads: Several RV parks near Oxford feature level concrete pads that simplify setup. A camper at Serenity RV Park noted, "Site 26 with FHUs is 1 of 6 pull through cement sites in the CG. The 4 back-in sites are cement pads. The pad was spacious, providing ample room for our 40' fifth wheel and F-450 truck."

Dual sewer connections: Serenity RV Park offers a practical feature not found at many campgrounds. According to a review, "There are two sewer connections on both cement and gravel sites, which is a nice convenience." This allows campers flexibility in positioning their RVs within the site.

Convenient gate system: Howard Stafford Park provides security while ensuring camper access. As one reviewer explained, "Non campers kicked out at 8pm and gates are locked. All campers get a key for after hours entry/exit." This adds security while still allowing campers to come and go.

What you should know

Limited site length: Some campgrounds have shorter pads than advertised. A visitor to Howard Stafford Park observed, "the rv pads are very short.an uneven." Always confirm pad length matches your RV requirements when making reservations.

High voltage variations: Power supply can be inconsistent at some facilities. A camper at EZ Daze RV Park reported a specific issue: "I checked my Powerdog app and it showed 142.5 volts on line 2." Consider using a surge protector when camping in this region.

Varying amenities between loops: At George P. Cossar State Park, campers strongly recommend the Yocona Ridge loop over other areas. One reviewer advised, "Definitely, stay only in Yocona Ridge as the other section is in complete disrepair." The facilities are older but maintained.

Limited propane availability: Propane refill services are scarce in the immediate Oxford area. One camper at Rebel RV Park noted, "Propane available for purchase," but this is uncommon among local campgrounds. Plan accordingly or expect to travel for refills.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Moon Lake Farm offers a scenic setting with activities for families. A camper observed, "Beautiful property with great host they have a short trail that goes around the property and a beautiful lake to enjoy." The property includes water and electric hookups.

Budget-friendly activities: Howard Stafford Park combines camping with public park facilities. A visitor described, "Small campground attached to a public use park. Gated after dark with older but usable bathrooms and showers. Has a splash pad, a basketball court, and several piers on the lake for fishing."

Proximity to Elvis attractions: Families interested in music history can use Oxford-area campgrounds as a base. One camper at Howard Stafford Park mentioned, "Tupelo is 30 minutes away with the Elvis Birthplace museum and other attractions." This provides a cultural excursion option during longer stays.

Nature sounds: Several campgrounds offer peaceful natural surroundings. A Howard Stafford Park visitor noted, "You can hear cows in the distance from across the lake," creating a rural atmosphere despite proximity to town amenities.

Tips from RVers

Overnight parking options: For those needing a quick overnight stop, Love's RV Hookup in Holly Springs provides basic services. A camper noted, "Good location as no other RV sites nearby. Just passing through so only 1 night. Water and electric." Be aware sites may not be level.

Long-term considerations: Some Oxford RV parks cater more to extended stays than overnight visitors. A reviewer at Rebel RV Park observed, "Majority of sites filled with long-timers who use as their homefront. Left over sites filled and emptied quickly for game at UM."

Leveling requirements: Despite appearances, some sites may be surprisingly level. One camper at Rebel RV Park noted, "Sites do not look to be level but are surprisingly, really-really level." Always bring leveling blocks as a precaution.

Highway noise considerations: When selecting an RV park near Oxford, consider proximity to highways and railways. A Serenity RV Park visitor mentioned, "There is highway and train noise, but not too bad." Sites further from main roads generally offer quieter conditions.
