Excellent Paddle Boarding

Mosquitos are outta control at this campsite in June and July! If you don’t have bug spray…. Don’t come these months. We stayed at 15- great for 50’. Picnic table and fire pit. The lake wasn’t great for fishing for us this trip. Others only caught small mouth bass. There is no internet access.…

Serene and Starry

This campground has the best showers and toilets. Lots of beautiful trees and shade. We stayed in 19E. Plenty of trails leading to Lake Superior’s rocky shoreline. The water is cold.

Drinking water around the site and multiple outhouses near us.

19- is across from the camp host and wood is in…

We booked the last site available on a whim and it ended up being the best view of the light house!

Tucked away out of town

Lots of nice pull through sites. Excellent for truck campers. The lake views for sunsets we're amazing. Vault toilet across from site 6 must be new as it was very nice for what it is. Our firepit tipped over with the weight of the grill swung out. Town of Two Harbors is 26 miles (30 min) away, so…

On the edge of the wild

No joke, this was our family’s first camping trip. We have five kids 10 and under. The sites were clean and large. Some are larger than others. Ours was about 15 feet from the next site but that was through trees.

Plenty of drinking water and bathrooms. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit…

Remote hideaway (BWCA entry)

Perfect little campground (and outfitters) right in the lake. Great for those who still want a few amenities.

It’s a dry campground. Water at the outfitters. Vault toilets (clean and nice!) throughout. Water spigots in the campground. Dump station next to the outfitters. Outfitters have basic…

Easy, friendly, beautiful

What a great spot! Quiet and comfortable, and when I called to confirm our spot (we were running late) the site owner was super friendly. The site was well maintained and easy to find even when we arrived after dark. Definitely coming back!!

  • Easy set up at a clean site even when it was long after dark!

Clean, under $50, and safe location on Lake Superior

A rare find - clean, level, large RV sites with full hook ups on the North Shore not filled with residents in all the good sites. Strict rules such as no early check in and no late check out. Tents and rvs also allowed in a section next to the highway with electric only. NOTE: no onsite dump…

Off the beaten path

I’ve stayed here before.
I really like it but you have to work for it. Everything has to be carried in—and 1.5 miles may not sound that bad but the paths can be steep, muddy, rocky, exposed roots—there are plenty of chances for sprains.

Don’t bring your young kids—the trails are honestly too…

Memorial weekend getaway

My sister and I spent two nights tent camping here at a site right on the water. We arrived around noon on Friday of memorial day weekend when about half of the sites were filled. Plenty of options depending on the size of your party and rigs. Lots of other lakes to explore in this area. Our…

So much greatness to discover

We love rustic campgrounds and McDougal has become one of our favorites. It doesn't look like much at first but once you start exploring, you'll discover lots of hidden gems that make this place so fun for exploring.

Great retreat on the lake!

We stayed in 2 different cabins. Fox and Beaver. Very nice. Clean. Private. It was quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful views of the lake. The staff was very friendly. The “lodge dog” was friendly too 😊 they have canoe rentals. All the gear. Was a great stay!

Note. There is very limited cell reception…
