Divide Lake Campground & Backcountry Sites

Within Superior National Forest, Divide Lake Campground provides three drive-in sites alongside backcountry options accessible by boat or foot. The US Forest Service manages this year-round facility, which sits five miles down a gravel road and offers drinking water, restrooms, and trash service despite its remote feel.

Campers report consistent quiet conditions, with loons calling across the water through the night. The lake supports trout fishing, and a mile-long hiking trail circles the water with a walk-in campsite positioned along the route. Boaters can paddle directly to sites, while hikers access backcountry spots on foot. The small number of sites means securing a spot often provides privacy, though advance planning helps during peak seasons.

Super cool

Only 3 spots. Snagged a private one and stayed a night. Really great, quiet, loons calling all night and a very cool hike around the lake. There is a hike in campspot a mile into the hike. Wonderful. Im sure you can boat to it as well. 5 miles of gravel but there is water, trash and a bathroom.

Quiet rarely used

This is a very quiet, rarely used campsite. We canoed over to it which makes it feel more remote than it actually is. Had a lot of luck fishing for trout as well!
