GuideJust returned from our first weekend here. The new section is open and ready. Water and Electric Only. Dump station on the way out.

We had empty space on either side of us. New section is spaced out with a berm of earth in between alot of the sites.
Road out a decent storm and 2.5 inches of rain in 24 hours. One tree came down close us. Probably no more risky than anywhere else.
New bath house is excellent. Old ones… meh.. they are old.
Will return.
ScoutMiddle Ridge Campground is a charming family owned campground without the major frills, but has full hookups, very wooded, and has a ton of walking paths to enjoy. Did I mention there are Donkeys?? They are so cute! The campground also has a pool that looks really nice but the weather was a bit chilly for Memorial Day weekend. This campground is secluded, wooded, and not over crowded and the owners are very friendly. We are booking another stay next month!

ScoutWe enjoyed our stay at Middle Ridge Campground. The owners we're amazing family people who were so polite and helpful! They provided daily checks so see if we needed anything such as firewood, which they brought directly to our campground. We have three children who absolutely loved petting and feeding Mules and Donkeys! The pool is a nice amenity unfortunately the weather wasn't swimming weather when we were there. Short drive down the mountain to get to the ponds but my husband and oldest son had a blast catching fish in their ponds! Large campsites with good spacing between guests, which makes your site feel private. I called before booking and talked to the owner which helped us pick out the perfect spot! If ever in the area we would come back and camp again!
GuideFirst time here but will be back. Can't believe how much space is between each site. You're close enough to see other campers but far enough away to feel you have you own sections of woods. Site 262 in the Ironwood or I loop of the campground. These sites don't have any hook ups but are suitable for campers and small RVs as well as tents. Bathhouse is in the center of the loop.
A fair amount of gnats and other bugs but no mosquitoes to speak of.
Clean, well run camp store. Nice beach area with volley ball nets. Lots of paddle boards and canoes for rent.
The 5 mile hike around Lake Habeeb is enjoyable. Great way to see all sides of the park. Across the lake from the campground is a casino and resort.

ScoutTo my surprise, the camp site itself was ran by using a self serve station. Signing ourselves in was extremely easy and we were settled in and unpacked in only an hour. On weekdays it’s not that busy and you see more empty cars than people. As for the campsite, everyone is equipped with a pole for hanging things, campfire pit with a grille, picnic table, and a place to put your tent. From there you are free to walk or drive anywhere you want in the state park. There are tons of trails with amazing sights to see. It felt like every turn was a different biome. With all of the biodiversity, you’ll never be bored of seeing everything it has. Once our stay went into the weekend it got extremely busy. Tons of cars flooded the parking spots and when we packed up and left, someone had already claimed our spot. Locals are nice and everyone is pretty reserved. Had no encounters with bears and loved the untouched nature everywhere. One problem is the weather, even though the weather was in our favor, at night there is extreme winds and it’s enough to completely destroy your tent. Other than that it is definitely worth a visit!
GuideSwallow falls is awesome year round. In the winter the snow and ice is beautiful, fall is lovely and summer is fun.
There are only a couple sites with electricity in each of the two loops.
The largest falls in Maryland, Muddy Creek Falls, 53 feet. Several other falls on the Youghiogheny River.

GuideRocky Gap is best earlier and later in the year. It's less crowded. The campground beach is fun. There is a 5 mile trail that goes all around the lake. Lots of lake to paddle. Easy to get to from I-70
ScoutVery clean and quiet. The people selling firewood were the best! Site 166 is not flat what so ever. We recommend checking out cucumber falls, which isn’t terribly far away.
