Lovely but traffic noise ruins it

We camped here with family two days in April. The tent sites are fine, maintained with hard gravel tent spots. Each site is a good size and spaced apart for privacy. The bathrooms were clean. Water spigots and even a dish clean out area made it lovely (the dishes sink was closed for the season though). The playground and beach were lovely. The downside, and it is big for us, is that instead of falling asleep to the sound of frogs, we laid awake all night listening to the noise from nearby 83. The traffic noise was so loud combined with the often interrupting scream of truck brakes. We will not return, as we go camping to be in nature and the road noise was a constant reminded we were not.

Great site even when cloudy

This was a great campground. We booked a “walk up” but our parking spot was just down 3 or 4 stairs so it was very easy to go back and forth. We had a large tent pad, fire pit, and picnic table, and there was a water pump right by our parking spot. There were several vault toilets nearby and we never had to wait in line. The sites were well spaced out and while we could hear our neighbors talking, everyone was respectful of the quiet hours.

We chose this location for the stargazing, but the fog was so dense we could barely see in front of our faces in at night and into the early morning! I would not recommend driving to the site at these times because we could not see either side of the road through the fog. However, during the day it was a beautiful drive up the mountain with several scenic overlooks.

There were very few maps of the trails posted so take pictures online before you go. The trails were well marked and interconnected, so you can make your loop as long or short as you’d like. There were many rivers and waterfalls along the way and several dispersed campsites with fire pits around the trails. The hikes were not particularly difficult, but each one had very unique terrain (rocks/mud, steep meadow, flat forest, etc.) and very unique foliage.

Great location

A large group of us camped in the section that was a little secluded along the river. Easy put-ins for canoes and kayaks. Great flat spots. Felt a world away--yet close to some of the best outdoor recreation in the country!

Top stay "so far"

Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. This quickly became our top stay “so far” of the trip. Spent 5 nights. Private wooded setting, hardly anyone there, amazing hiking (you can hike to the PA border!) and mountain biking right from the site. And the bathroom/showers were spotless. When the weather turned quite cold they were happy to let us switch sites to electric which was much appreciated. Great areas for dog walking. Loved loved LOVED it here. And enjoyed a socially distanced visit to 1812 Brewery near by.

Clean, well-maintained, and easy trail access!

I loved my stay at Campsite 4! I even surprisingly got one bar of 4G, too.

Never disappoints

I’ve been going to coopers rock campground for 25 years and it’s always a clean, pleasant experience. You’re definitely not going to have the privacy that some campgrounds can provide but in terms of facilities, it’s overall a clean and safe experience.

Nice campground, kind of far from trails and attractions

Stayed at the Kentuck campground just outside of the town. The campsites are nice. Adequate room, clean bathrooms, and overall a good campground. For us, it wasn't within hiking distance from the main attractions or hiking trails. The campsite sits on top of a long hill with really no room to walk on the road so you have to drive everywhere. Other than that, nothing to complain about.

Puts more 'camp" in camping

This is a no frill camp area that actually feels like a campground instead of a resort.  Not great swim areas, but one can jump in the river to cool off.  Lots of bugs…but thats the Mid Atlantic.  It was a good time away from the city.

Very busy

Nice destination spot if you have children.  A great swim area where mom can relax while kids play.  Campground well maintained.  Great showers.  Very high traffic during the summer.

OK, but not real camping by West Coast standards

Nice, crowded.  Grandkids had fun.  Lake was nice to cool off in.  Not a place I would do again.
