Best Campgrounds near New Iberia, LA

Okay, if you’re not into a bunch of fellow campers with children, I get that but how can you hate 3 pools with swim up bars, a giant hot tub and a well manicured park? Park really opens April 1 but we needed a taste of summer and we found it here

We visited for a softball tournament and the location is perfect, less than a mile from the complex. The park was well kept. There is a small fishing pond so bring a pole. My husband caught a bass. It was stocked with perch as well. The owner was friendly and very appreciative of our business. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area. Verizon and AT&T cell service worked well.

Stayed here 16 days over the Christmas/New Year’s holidays and had the place to ourselves. The water is questionable, bring your own. Beautiful, clean, quiet- definitely worth the visit

All sites are cement and level.  Pedestals are close and everything works.  NO shade at the campground.  There is a beach for the kids.  Great speck kayak fishing in the fall.  Nice place overall.  Didn't visit the bath house, full hookups at the RV sites.  Breeze is always blowing.  Good AT&T.  Didn't try the park WIFI, not sure if its available at this time.

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

About three miles on well maintained gravel. Nice area, although fairly remote. Clean. Well maintained. There were 3 others camping when we got there. A couple of folks were shooting their rifles at the gun range for a while. Fishermen came and went at the boat ramp. Quieted down at sunset. Swarms of mosquitoes on March 2, 2024. I wouldn’t plan to cook outside. We found (well) water available at the ranger/mangers station to refill our trailer. Plus it’s free!

We thought on the way here, we might not be able to get in but had the place to ourselves, which was great, apparently there's another campsite farther on so the parks staff told us, but we stayed here.  Only complaint 'man those bugs be bugs', bring bug spray, thermisills, and anything else you can think of to combat them, stayed end of February.  Wonderful setting.  Had a campfire tonight and got visited by 2 armadillos, fabulous !!

We stayed at spot 38. We we're right on the water with our own dock/deck. Close to the restrooms but not much through traffic. Dumpster was right across next to the bathrooms. Not a lot of street lights throughout the campground made things nice and quiet at night. Spots were asphalt and needed a decent bit of leveling. The water and electricity hookups were on the camp side, which made for an awkward parking job to accommodate for the cord lengths. The site had no Verizon cell service, in order to receive notifications or just make a phone call you have to walk back towards the main road. The hiking trails were very nice with lots of shorts and long options. The canoe trails were also nice with the ability to rent kayaks or canoes. Overall the campground was clean, relativity quiet, right on the water, and is perfect if you are looking to disconnect.

I really like this spot. It's got great scenery along the river, nice open spaces, well maintained, and there's a free shooting range including archery, pistol, and rifle areas. Decently maintained bathroom with a toilet. Icame mid December and am the only one camping. My only complaint that might bother some people would be the noise of the shooting range, but it's not that bad or frequent.

Stayed in the parkway loop on the water. Very few folks in the off season but nice. Sites are close and there is road noise but we were one of 5 occupied sites and were spaced out fairly well. Great thing about full timing it is you can hit these parks with very few people staying in them. Wildlife and great scenery.

I think this is a very nice camping area for both RV’s and tent camping, but it does have some minor drawbacks. There is a protected area on the lake within the park that you can launch your boat and they do have two restrooms with showers as well as washers and dryer’s to clean your clothes. Bathrooms in nearly every camping area across the country I’ve been to aren’t exactly up to home standards, but it is functional. The people working at the park have always been friendly and helpful. I like to tent camp and even the tent campsites have electrical hook ups. The truly bizarre thing about that is we are located in South Louisiana where the temperatures are absolutely brutally hot and majority of the year and yet they have a rule that clearly states you cannot have an air conditioner in your tent. And luckily, I didn’t see that the first four or five times I stayed there and no one said a word. Why in the world could you not hook up a portable AC unit in your tent considering electrical hook ups are provided and AC units make nearly no noise? Speaking of noise, the park is located in just inside a 90° curve in the highway with two sets of rumble strips in each direction. Being located practically within the city limits of Morgan city, or noise from traffic and the rumble strips doesn’t quiet down until well after midnight and picks back up again in full force around 5 AM. I couple that with the majority of the people here wanting their trucks to make the most noise possible, it’s a bit distracting and makes sleep difficult. Like all camping areas, people are going to listen to all manners and types of music but that quiet down significantly after 10 PM. my last trip about a week ago I noticed that my particular campsite was covered in fire ants that would start to build colonies within all your camping equipment left on the ground outside and they also built a major ant city underneath our tent that wasn’t an issue until I was breaking down the camp and the ants decided to scatter all over the tent inside and out.  the fishing is fantastic down here and the wildlife is incredible. You will see alligators of course along with rabbits, black squirrels, osprey bald eagles as well as seagulls and pelicans given our close proximity to the gulf coast. The office has people working in it every day of the week and and there is a Coke machine at the office and they do sell 8 pound bags of ice for $2. Overall, I really like camping here and then will continue to do so as long as no one says anything about having an AC unit in my tent as I would not consider staying in a tent in South Louisiana without one.
