LegendI didn't stay here but I did walk through the place to get to know it. This is an RV campground, I did not see any places for tent camping.
There is a nice playground and four sand volleyball courts. Staying in the campground allows for easy lake access. Be warned, do not park a car/boat trailer and take off in the lake, they're serious about towing non-campers.
This campground caters to RVs, mobile homes, permanent dwellings and semi-permanent RVs parked to stay. RV hookups with electrical and water/ sewer.
The large sandy beach has lots of space, easy access to both the water and a bar and grill with outdoor seating and lots of umbrellas. The beach features a few beach games and a small amount of seating on the sand. Not many trees for shade, RVs are parked out in the open and would be hot in the summer.

TravelerTook our new to us Pop Up Camper to this resort during Labor Day weekend on her maiden voyage. Was surrounded by awesome people in their big rigs but not once made us feel inferior or less than for not having an RV at an RV resort. Pros:
Cons: -Hard to find (GPS takes you to a school parking lot, the campsite is behind it) -Bathhouses need major upgrade and cleaning (seems neglected by the river sites)
LegendIt has been quite some time since the last time we visited Blackhawk. They appear to have entered the thousand trail system of membership since our last visit. The campground has plenty of amenities to keep you busy with a beautiful lake you can walk to. They have a boat launch but we did not take our kayaks with us on this trip. We reserved a water/electric site and utilized the dump station on our way out. Lines were not too bad for the dump station which was good. Sites were of decent size and fairly quiet. We did have an evening where we heard what I believe was a race track in the distance but was not able to confirm. This was a quick weekend trip with some additional family members so we did not fully partake in the planned activities as we spent most of our time at camp. We will definitely visit this campground again as we have used the lake in the past and had a great time over all.

TravelerPrivate/gated campground, sites are very very close, better like your neighbors being in your business. Sites are expensive but full hook up.
TravelerStayed 4 nights- first come first served- no reservations- bring plenty of hose for water connections- first site we tried was just too far to connect- toilets but no showers available- electric/ water no full hook ups. Clean, with large sites, about a 5 mile walk around the nearby lake- saw several deer and rabbits - T-Mobile worked just fine- no Wi-Fi
TravelerGreat for the times that we have to work weekends and still want to go camping. We can both drive to work and then come back to relax. Close to some great places for antiquing if you don't want to hike the trails or fish. The only big minus is the full hook ups fill up fast no spur of the moment camping unless it is early or late in the season. The other thing is ALL Illinois State Parks are now enforcing a no alcohol policy even if you are on your own site.
ScoutThe state park is larger than expected with decent amenities (boat rentals, concessions, relatively clean pit toilets) and areas designated for trailer camping and tent camping.
We stayed in the Turner South Loop, one of the older tent camping loops, and the age definitely showed. Most of the sites on this loop are pretty worn, with not much privacy. We stayed in T10, but would consider T9 if we returned to this loop for a different reserved site. The prairie loop looked a bit newer with bigger, less worn sites. Both loops had grill pits that were well-maintained for fires and campfire cooking.
Trails were geared more towards horses and bikes, but there are plenty of walking paths, and we were able to find some hidden trails along the lake (read: unofficial). Overall, a place for relaxing and leisurely strolls and not hiking.
