Sycamore RV Resort

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and swimming anchor most visits to Sycamore RV Resort, where two spring-fed lakes sit at the center of the property. Sites with full hookups ring the water, and the catch-and-release fishing draws repeat visitors across seasons. A small sandy beach with a snack shack gives families a place to spend summer afternoons, and a walking path loops around both lakes. No tent camping is permitted here. Pop-up trailers and larger rigs are welcome, and the gravel pads on back-in sites give RVs a stable, level surface.

The resort runs on a tight maintenance schedule. Multiple reviewers flag the restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities as consistently clean, and the bathrooms use electronic key cards for access. Staff actively help guests park on arrival, a detail that comes up repeatedly in reviews. Sites are described as somewhat compact, so campers with larger rigs should account for that when planning. The grounds stay quiet, and the property sits close enough to places to camp near Sycamore that day trips into town are easy, including access to Pumpkinfest in fall and a local bakery a short drive away.

"Very clean and well cared for property; especially the laundry and bathroom/shower areas," notes Carolyn C., who also mentions the lakes can run low during drought years, which affects conditions for paddling. Campers wanting a different setup with more natural surroundings might look at Walcamp Outdoor Ministries to the northwest.

Campers regularly cited excellent facilities including immaculate bathrooms and reliable hookups, plus family-friendly lake activities. Some noted tight site spacing on gravel pads, though the quiet atmosphere and helpful staff earned consistent praise.

Peaceful Lakeside Pause in the Heart of Corn Country

There’s something so comforting about pulling into Sycamore RV Resort and seeing the sunlight dance across those two spring-fed lakes, giving you that immediate exhale that only a calm Midwestern campground can bring. The property is medium-sized, incredibly tidy and thoughtfully laid out, with full-hookup RV sites circling the water, a small sandy beach for summer splashing, clean restrooms and showers, simple playgrounds and EZ walking loops that make it feel both manageable and welcoming for families. The boys were in heaven the next morning when we drove over to Elleson’s Bakery for fresh homemade donuts still warm from the oven. Later we wandered through historic downtown Sycamore during Pumpkinfest, taking in the decorated storefronts and carved pumpkins lined up like a little parade. Back at the RV Resort, from what we saw, the best campsites are any of the lakeside slots on the western shore because they offer the prettiest sunrise views and the quietest pockets of the resort. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend this campground for families thanks to its peaceful lakeside setting, its clean and convenient amenities and its proximity to a charming small provincial Midwestern town that makes even a simple weekend feel memorable.

Beautiful, peaceful camping

Beautiful spot, very peaceful. We’ve been here for 3 months. There are two lakes, catch and release fishing. A small beach with a snack shack. Well run and maintained. Reasonably priced

Nice base camp

Reliable full hookups. Very clean and well cared for property; especially the laundry and bathroom/shower areas. Postage stamp space on gravel but we had things to do outside the resort. Nice walking path around the two ponds. The ponds are very low due to drought this summer. Doesn’t look that inviting for canoes.

Nice quiet place

Stayed here for a week, nice clean campground, quiet and beautiful lake for fishing, close to town, but yet just far enough out. Staff was nice and courteous, have full hookup sites, would highly recommend. We stayed at a back in site, easy access and site had plenty of room on each side

Secret get away

No tent camping allowed but pop up trailers on up are welcome. Very nice grounds that are quiet. 10 minute drive to town. 20 minutes from Dekalb. Some Covid 19 restrictions. Beach and restrooms are closed. Campers must have their own toilets. Other wise very clean shower house and restrooms if there were no Covid 19.

Very well maintained campground

Campground is very well maintained with gravel pads. Nice lake for fishing and a beach area for the kids to go swimming. When we arrive, the host will bring you to your site and just listen to his directions and he will get you into your site perfectly. I asked if I could bring him on my future trips. I’ve never parked so easily. Bathrooms are immaculate and are locked with electronic key cards. Close to DeKalb.
