Water access is the main draw. Kayaking, fishing, and swimming are all available on-site, with two pools and a sandy beach. The campground gets noticeably busier on weekends, and some reviewers describe the sites as closely packed, with driveways and roads serving as the primary separation between neighbors. Shade is limited in parts of the campground. Campers looking for more breathing room during peak season tend to book sites away from the pool areas. Weekday visits are considerably quieter, as one reviewer put it: "quiet during week days with more folks coming in for weekend use."
The campground's location between Madison and Janesville makes it a workable base for day trips. Tent campers are welcome, though they have historically been in the minority here. Facilities include showers, laundry, WiFi, a fitness center, and a camp store. Pets are allowed. For campers who want a smaller-scale experience nearby, Getchell's Campground and Milton-Madison SE KOA are both within a few miles to the west, and there are additional campgrounds around Milton for those weighing options in the area.
