Short stop
It was a small RV park had a concert pad but not big enough for a 43 ft motor home. The site was 60 ft, but the whole site was not concrete. We were there for one night, it rained and the whole site had puddles around it. I do understand that it is a RV site but we stayed at others that were not concrete pad and did not flood this much. It was extremely muddy. Water was very. None of the sites had sewage, the dump station was about a mile down the road. They have a few 50 amp lots. We did not have one. The site had I would call it an out house. I did not see a bath house with showers. The out house only had a toilet, no sink for hand washing. The location was right on the water so that was nice. Other than that I was not impressed.
Great view. Poor neighbor.
We decided to stay here - mostly because state parks are closed - and thought military campgrounds have an advantage over public parks.
Not this one. Most of the permanent residents had trash sprawled over their site, let their dogs run lose and didn’t curb them at all. So much so that there were was dog shit next to our power podium. What a welcome.
Needless to say I don’t think we’ll be coming back unless absolutely necessary. Oh wait. It’s not.
Oh. Wonderful views of the lake and way close to the beach on base.

Directions
FROM I-94, CHICAGO: Exit on top IL-137 East. Stay on I-137 for about 4 miles to Naval Training Center. As you approach the overpass, stay in the right lane that goes under it. At the traffic light, turn right and continue on past the next light to the end of the road. As the road curves right, make a right turn into Gate 5. This is the gate RV's must use. Once through the gate, you will go straight on the road to a T intersection. The name of the street is John Paul Jones. Turn right, then at the first road, Zeigemeier, turn left and follow the road down the hill to the campground.
