Gorgeous views and clean site

I’m not sure why this place isn’t 5/5! We booked this site last minute as we have been exploring Yellowstone with no registrations for overnight stays. We called at 6pm (when they close) looking for space and the host said she will stay open for 30 mins till we get there. She was so very sweet and welcoming. Site was very clean, bathrooms were the cleanest we have experienced at camp sites. And the BEST views! Nice to have a designated sink for washing dishes. No bear boxes but kept everything in the car and we were good. Very bumpy road to get to the campground but sometimes it takes a rough road to get off the beaten path :) only thing was that each site has big metal fire pits and ours was totally missing. The sites next to us were vacant so we just stole the one from there.

Close to Yellowstone West Entrance

Driving to the campsite on a washboard gravel road was rough and dusty. The park is nice with lake views. The camp host was phenomenal. Our cord did not reach the electrical box so they loaned us an extension. I was a little disappointed with the shower pressure. It was a great place to stay and see Yellowstone

Nice place for a quick stop

Little on the pricier end however there are a number of amenities such as laundry (additional cost), dish wash station, and hot showers at no additional cost.

Tent sites were a bit small but do-able and it was nice being on the water.

Quick access to west Yellowstone.

Beautiful views, very accommodating staff

We just returned from a stay at Madison Arm resort on Hebgen and I was very impressed. They had showers, a small store, fish cleaning station and plenty of bear proof garbages. They offer cabin, RV rentals, Rv and tent sites. We enjoyed our stay and the view from our tent site.

Shade and water views

Overall, we really enjoyed it here. The dirt road off of the highway is pretty rough, but they warn you about that. Lots of shade/trees all around the campground. Some of the spots are pretty tight, but you don’t feel like your neighbors are on top of you.

Great location

Off the beaten path location with a gorgeous lake just west of Yellowstone. It's a long dirt road to the campground but totally worth it.

We tent camped for two nights and though it was a little cramped with our neighbors we were happy to be right on the lake.

The bathrooms need some TLC and improved airflow but that is our only complaint.

Had a great time

Second time we stayed here, first time was in the back by the road and yes there were a few rigs and atvs but was more quiet than most campgrounds with regular traffic. Second time we had a spot on the lake, great access to the beach and a couple trails for walking the dogs. The facilities were clean and the staff were very nice. West Yellowstone was a short drive, I enjoyed the solitude away from the highways. The boys enjoyed the kayak rentals, it would have been nice if someone helped launch them and putting them away.

Total ripoff

$40-$45 for literal postage stamps of camp site. To make things worse, ATVs and trucks come in and out late into the night... headlights, engines, yelling... all right next to you.

Spent most of the sleepless night looking into the free, dispersed campsites I wish I had stayed at.

Tuff to find gem in yellowstone

So don’t use GPS to navigate to it will take you on a brutal 6 mile unkept dirt road. There is a easy route in ask for directions. Camping is tight but big enough view of lake from just about everywhere. So if you are in a pinch and can’t find any same day stays try this one.

Convenient Location, Hard to Navigate

The resort is close to Yellowstone and has some beautiful views from camp, however it is not easy to navigate with an RV/Trailer. The resort itself is a fun little place with boat rentals and full hookups available. It’s just outside West Yellowstone where you can get just about anything you need on your trip in/out of the park. Getting settled in was stressful however, as the resort is 5-miles down a windy gravel road. The full hookup spots are packed in tight and hard to navigate with larger vehicles (there are some really odd angles that you have to back into). Also, the hookups for our site were located on another sites lot and no matter how we positioned our trailer our cables couldn’t reach the box. Working with the staff to resolve this wasn’t wasn’t easy. They weren’t apologetic about the the location of the hookups despite it being advertised as such, but we were able to find a solution after half an hour of talking with them.

Quiet and Quaint

We left one day to chance on our roadtrip in our teardrop camper. We were so glad we stumbled upon this spot! It was right next to the lake. The spots were nice and spaced out. Bathrooms were good enough. Little store on site to pick up basics.

Amazing location, hosts not so much

Can’t say enough about the location (close to Yellowstone NP) and the facilities, absolutely beautiful 10/10. On the other hand the hosts /owners are not helpful or accommodating to any travelers. The number of rules are worth a photo, the rudeness is almost a worth going there to experience to believe it. They are also not following cdc guidelines (none of the staff wears a mask). If you decide to go, keep your kids inside at all times, this is not a kid friendly place (unfortunately as it has so much potential). I would love to see the hosts getting better at customer services and reducing the amount of strict rules so we could come back and recommend to friends. We also spoke with others and all had the same experience.

DO NOT camp here! If you do - DO NOT DRINK THE WATER

***READ OTHER WATER ISSUE REPORTS ON GOOGLE!!!! *** DO NOT NOT NOT drink this water!!!! We are boondocking just outside Madison Arm, still in the National Forest, and we stopped in to see if we could fill our 60 gallon water bladder. And if so, how much would it cost. The owner said we could fill our 60 gallons for free, and ran out about 28 gallons into it and told us we'd have to pay $60. Because we only got 28 gallons she charged us $45. She specifically said we could fill it for free. When we got home, we noticed the water was bad, tea colored and dumped it on the ground. We will be filing a grievance with the National Forest, as this was a classic robbery. And we couldn't even use the water we paid $45 for. ABSOLUTE CROOKS!!!!!!!!! The state park down the road charges $10 for the whole year. We should have driven the extra couple miles and gone there, but we pulled in and asked, and she said it was free and to go ahead.

The ironic part is we worked for the National Forest up in Montana last year. We know that these fees are regulated for the concessionaires and this is not supposed to happen. You can NOT tell someone they can go ahead and fill their water bladder for free and then change your mind and demand money. $45 for 28 gallons that I had to dump on the ground is NOT ok!

Escape on the Lake

I would love to give this campground 5 stars - the hosts were lovely. It's a beautiful, peaceful piece of property. Lots of trees, surrounded by mountains and a glass lake. If you are tent camping, there are gorgeous sites along the water and you get amazing sunset views each night. HOT showers, laundry facilities, and an outdoor kitchen for cleaning your catch if you head out on the lake. Ladies bathroom needs some better ventilation, but the showers were a nice size.

If you are RVing and staying here to spend your days touring Yellowstone… you just have to take note. It's a long, bumpy 5 mile drive into the camp (making it wonderfully quiet!). It was fine the first day, but it got old, especially after driving around Yellowstone all day. They also, if needed, pack the RVs in some weird spots. Where we thought it was a through road next to us, ended up being a RV spot later in the week…and we lost our pretty sunset views. It also was awkward for both of us as we were perpendicular to them.

If you plan on spending more than 4 nights there, you will love the serene getaway of it! If you are only there to sleep while visiting Yellowstone, you will find its location a bit of a hassle.

This place fits all needs. They have a small store, wood to purchase (for camp fires), a camp sink (to wash dishes), boats to rent, and, did I mention HOT SHOWERS? My husband and ourn2 nieces throughly enjoyed our trip and will be returning. (Lot’s of wildlife to see as well)

Beautiful setting

Madison Arm Resort is set in the most beautiful place on the edge of the lake. You have to drive down a desolate dirt road for a solid 5-7 minutes to get the campground, but it was fun going around the curves in our SUV. I haven't seen inside their cabins (so I can't say anything about those), but the campsite for our tent was a decent size. it could have been a little further away from the other sites, it was right next to other tent sites with no barrier or space at all. There were pretty bad mosquitos on the first and last night we were there, but I'm sure just time of year for that. The Resort offers showers and bathrooms, they are small and relatively clean. The women's bathroom has a bad smell to it, can't figure it out. The laundry facilities they said they had (one washer and dryer) were both down for the three nights we were there :( which was disappointing. Overall, it was a breathtaking location to camp while exploring Yellowstone and the Tetons. We would stay here again.
