Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Saint Anthony, ID

Booked 6 months in advance and based it on many good reviews. Was promised a new, upgraded campground with a premium site. Found new section is not completed and under construction. Was placed on site 40, which is terribly unlevel, a muddy mess with no crush, no patio and a tree that lays disgusting bushy bug-like buds every day all over everything. The only site like this. We could not enjoy it outside at all. No dog park as advertised. Paid a good deal for a week and was very disappointed. It was far from all the attractions at Yellowstone. It takes 30 min to get to the west gate, and over an hour and half to any points in the park. People seemed nice enough. Did see a moose close by and the laundry room and store were nice. The store was way overpriced tho. West Yellowstone seemed much nicer and closer to NP. Wouldn't stay here again. So disappointed that we booked a week here. The site was horrible and I was told it was a nice site when I questioned it by staff.

I’ve lived in Idaho Falls almost my whole life and visited Ashton and Island Park countless times and had no idea this was here! I lucked into a first come spot because someone had cancelled their online reservation and was able to stay two nights here. Dog friendly, zero cell service like at all.

I got spot 4, right next to the delightful camp hosts! Electricity at each camp site, two double sites, all the trees you could ever want! A very very quiet and peaceful campground. 10/10. Will be back.

It’s steps away from Lower Mesa Falls! Not far from Ashton if you forget something and close enough to West Yellowstone if you want to stay somewhere further from the park!

We were here to attend the 2023 Lippert Getaway and the staff did an amazing job making sure the park looked it's very best. As we had been here before, the campground (CG) was easy to find, but some people did say that their RV GPS wanted to take them down a dirt road on the other side of Henry Lake. Campers coming to Red Rock RV Park should come in on US-20 to Red Rock Pass Road. Check-in was very thorough, and we were escorted to premium pull-through site 69. Our daily rate reflects Lippert’s special RV rally rate plus two extra days at the full rate averaged out. We stayed here in September 2019, and now, under new ownership, the CG has doubled in sites and added a nice-sized fenced dog park, plus a second laundry and bathroom facility. The water here is very good pressure-wise, and we didn’t need to use our softener. The sites are pretty close together, so try to get an end site to have more yard area. The section we stayed in did not have mature trees, so using the satellite was no problem. The original section, sites 1-54, has many mature trees, so using satellite would be iffy. We got two bars on Verizon, and their WiFi was okay. The CG is about 30 minutes from Yellowstone’s west gate. We did get double charged for a propane tank fill and didn't catch it until after we had departed. I reached out via email with the proof of the double charge and they immediately credited my card. This is a very nice park with awesome views, but their normal rates are really over-priced in our opinion.

I have not personally spent the night camping here, but I do work for the Forest Service and wanted to give more information about the Darby Canyon dispersed camping sites. I also had a friend stay here for three nights last September and they had a good time. There are about 10~ sites (I will check and edit when I can) all along the canyon road, some are just right off road and others require a short drive down beaten paths to find the sites. All of these sites (except 2 or so very close to the road) are past the cattle guard. Depending on the time of year, many of these sites may not be accessible. Snow typically stays in the canyon until mid-June and starts collecting in October. The area may also be buggy at the height of the summer (July 2024 had been atrocious). There is limited cell service down most of the road and it completely disappears the closer to the Wind Cave trailhead you get. This area has a 14 day stay limit, meaning that once 14 days (13 nights) have been reached you must move at least 5 miles away to continue camping on forest service land and cannot return to this canyon to camp for 30 days. This is in a bear food storage enforced area and any bear attractants (food, pet food, soaps, sunscreen, etc.) are required to be stored properly in a locked hard sided vehicle or other bear resistant containers. Fires are allowed but must be put out dead (cold to the touch) before leaving a campsite. This canyon is regularly patrolled by Forest Service staff and ranger law enforcement officers, especially on the weekends, to keep up with the food storage and fires out dead orders. Hope this helps weary travelers that are deterred by low-rated reviews.

Teton Canyon was an amazing getaway! Travel up to the camp ground by truck or 4 wheel drive. There was still snow and ice at the end of May! This was a beautiful campground settled in the mountains alongside a stream running with freshly melted snow. The hikes are breathtaking! We even came across an old avalanche. Super relaxing place. This is an off the grid campground. No showers or running water. There were some exceptionally clean bathroom outbuildings though. Bring plenty of firewood. Make sure to use the provided bear proof boxes too! We didn’t come across any bears, but we had a moose that frequented our site every morning! Lots of beautiful wildlife to see and hear. Pet friendly campsite and hiking!
