A chained gate and a rough drive-in road set the tone at Snake River Dispersed, a BLM area along the Snake River outside Firth in eastern Idaho. Campers enter through a gate secured with a hook and chain, and the request is simple: close it behind you. The road leads to a wide gravel area where sites vary considerably depending on your rig and how far you're willing to push in.
Vehicle size matters here more than at most dispersed spots. Reviewers with truck campers and rigs up to 35 feet have found workable spots toward the back, but the entry dip can be steep and problematic for larger Class C motorhomes, and trailers and Class A rigs are generally not recommended. Private property signs appear along the route, but they mark access to a residence rather than the camping area itself. Staying left keeps you on the correct path. Overgrowth near the first opening can block river views, so driving further in tends to reward the effort.
The spots directly on the water are limited. As MrCopperhead1974 puts it, there are "two small spots by the river good for anything small," and those fill up. Arriving earlier in the evening gives you a better shot at riverside placement. Bingham County North Bingham Park sits just north and provides an alternative if this area is full. Campers who want direct water access and don't mind navigating a working gate and variable road conditions will find this worth the extra effort.
