    So peaceful

We just stayed here for the weekend with our two kids and dog and it was so nice. We had a site right in front of the pond and it was not a long walk to the bathroom/shower area. Showers could have been a bit cleaner, but overall it was a nice stay. Wish they kayak rentals for the ponds. But it was still nice and quiet!

It has it all - for a price

It’s perfection. Beautiful beach, TWO pools, water slide, shop, activity center, pristine bathrooms and an awesome vibe. You can’t help but have fun here. And it comes at a price. $200/night in the off season.

Small, Alabama State Park, in Opp

Arrived at guard gate and was welcomed by friendly staff. Quiet campground with waterfront site 8. Plenty of space between sites. FHU, level gravel, waterfront site with picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Felt safe, and across the street from bathrooms/laundry. Dated but clean. Woman’s bathroom with showers & bathroom stalls. 2 washers & dryers, as well as a folding table. No dog park, but plenty of nature, paved roads for walking, as well as easy to find, marked trails. 10 minutes to town, with restaurants and a few stores to pick up groceries & necessities. Playground is on the other side of the trails, as well as the boat ramp. Lots of wildlife. Would stay here again!

    Another great state park

This is an older state park. We had a nice site that backed up to the lake. Only negatives were: the trash bin could have been closer (the exercise though was worth it) and the 'acorns' from the trees made for some loud bangs on the roof. Some nice trails for hiking.

We were in site 22 and next trip would like to try and get 2, 5 or 15

Park located in Opp, AL which was named for attorney Opp who brought the train hub to the town

    Camp On The Gulf

    Nice Place but Pricey

We had great but tight camping just 10 steps from the beautiful sandy beach. Lots of great and clean amenities. Very nice people running the campground and very nice people around us. The beach is beautiful.

    My review

Stayed on sit 58 right on water, full hook up, Bathrooms clean, Wi-Fi good but you have to sign in with the company providing it 7 dollars a day, great access to beaches, good fishing along beaches and jetties, plenty of places to walk and ride bikes

    Amazing Campground !

We camped here in 2022 and loved it! Water views, tons of trails, both walking and biking, deer cane right into our campsite a few times and we saw so many on our bike rides. Beautiful campground, well maintained! One of our favorites!

Clean, nice views, private and luxury, ssites too close

Nice place on the lake, well maintained. We wanted to do laundry and try new kind of a campground. Overall positive, but expensive. Sites are really near each other, no privacy. Probably ok for one time. Will go back to the more simple campgrounds. Had Wi-Fi, slow 1-2mgb/s . Att reception is fast.

Lost Reservation: Cost me 400.00 in Gas/18 Hours' Drive Time/Vacation Day

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE:  I made reservations back in August of 2022 for the July 4th, 2023, weekend (11 Months in advance). On my day of arrival, June 29th, I pull into the campground to check in and come to find out, the owner, Matt Fox, had lost my reservation. Matt works from home outside of Chicago. My card had been fully charged for the full stay 11 months prior. I traveled with my truck and 33-foot bumper pull camper for approx. 450 miles to be told I have no camp site. This is a unique campground. I had no other options. Instead of them realizing their mistake and assigning me a site and then making calls to cancel a reservation that was made after mine, they simply turned me away. The onsite managers tried to figure something out by trying to fit a square into a round hole. LOL. Meaning force my 33-foot camper attached to my 4-door truck around a 90 degree turn to then hit the overhang of an adjacent camp site roof over and over an eroded trail. There was no way it would fit is my point. That made me question their knowledge of the camping world. The owners operate off site near Chicago. They micromanage the reservations and local managers have no control over it. This business model is a joke. And this is a clear example of how it does not work. And from what I heard; matt makes mistakes all the time on reservations. They don't keep good records, or they would have never lost my paid in full reservation. This cost me the customer and they don't care. So here I sit, 450 miles from home with the cost to get there, pissed off and agitated knowing that I have an 8-hour drive back home because I have no other options. And a Holiday Weekend! They said they would give me a full refund and I had to ask for 100.00 for gas assistance. But they gave me no confirmation number of the refund. That had to come from Matt! The total trip was around 18 hours and approximately 900 miles which cost me around$400.00 in gas plus a lost vacation day from work. The drive home was very frustrating. I could not believe the way I had been treated. I honestly was in disbelief. It was the owner's fault and not the camp host/managers as the owners in Chicago run the show. And not a very good job at it from my experience. I sent the owners a text and picture of my odometer showing the average mpg and how many miles traveled and the time and ask for a$900 reimbursement. But they refused. How would you feel if you drove that many miles and for that length of time and spent that amount of money for nothing? They do not know what customer service all is about. They got their camp full for the July 4th weekend with over booking so I did not matter. I was nothing to them. They even required full payment up front. They are just looking out for themselves and are struggling apparently. Please, for those reading this, stay away. Its not worth what I went through to walk around naked and have man on man sex in the woods. This place disgusts me from a customer service standpoint.

Old and run down. The staff are lazy

As far as the campground goes, the ground is nice and even with fire pits and trees. But the bathrooms and showers are dirty and gross. The staff is lazy and rude. The grounds are rundown. The slides look dirty and unsafe. Over it was over priced for the experience offered.

    Can’t say enough!!

This is one of our favorite state parks! Make reservations early, they book up quick! You can make reservations 11 months in advance but we have scored a site setting up a cancellation notification.

The jetty area is perfect for young kids, it’s shallow enough for them to play and very little waves. Water is beautiful!! Be sure to bring your own chairs and umbrella, they are expensive to rent.

Campground has full hook ups, big rig friendly, laundry (bring your own quarters) and clean bath houses!

    Outstanding

This is one of the best campgrounds we've ever stayed! Beautiful, picturesque campsites. A lot of them have lake views. Bathrooms/showers are gorgeous.

    We didn't use the pool.

They have a nice camp store/office.

There's a lot of wooden fishing docks. Boats to rent.

The gate has an access code, but they text you with the code. I didn't check my texts, so there was some confusion on my part.

The only negative thing I can think of to say is the sites are rather tight. We had an empty site next to us for 2 nights, so it was all good!

    Beautiful well kept state park

Amazing state park on the water. The campground is modern with nice clean bathrooms, laundry machines, vending machines, park store with cart rentals and other items. The spaces are close together but great. Nice level gravel pads, full hookups including sewer, and most have fire pits and picnic table.

    Far yet close

Far yet close…that’s the first thing that comes to mind. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beach areas but close enough to enjoy them just the same. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try if you are in the Panama City beach/bay county/Walton county area. Quiet, serene, easy to get to if you don’t mind dirt roads that are amazingly maintained for a state forest campground! Site 10 was fabulous and all sites have 50/30 amp hookup and water. Dump station nearby and a hood bathhouse area with showers. You have a pond with a fishing dock and a camp host in site 1. I can’t say enough good things about this little gem just 15 miles north of PCB. Off hwy 79 it’s a short drive off interstate 10 exit 112. My wife, 12 yr old and mini Aussie are having a blast, so much so maybe I need to just keep this a secret??!!! Haha happy camping!

    Awesome MWR

The location is awesome. There is laundry and showers on site. The campground is mixed with some hotel and villa accommodations as well. The pool and splash pad are perfect for kids. The staff was friend and helpful. The area is clean.

I would say they could use some refreshing of the amenities but overall they are still clean and operational.

    Nice military campground

Nice people. Lots of trees and large spots. It’s also a short walk to the water. Close to several towns including Ft Walton Beach. We are currently at the Family camp and will bounce between the two campgrounds on base

Right on the water and in town

Level and newish gravel sites so still LOTS of rocks no mud. Fire pits on a brick base. Newer wooden picnic tables. State park has a beach with public restrooms. There are 3 camp stores throughout the park. One at beach, one at jetty, one closer to camp. Many campsites are tight on the bay and you can see the water from most of the sites. It’s a large park. You can rent golf carts to get around. There is a large center area in the campground with a built in corn hole game and a giant checker board with a large community fire pit. There are areas along the sandy bay shoreline in the campground where you can sit on the beach. The bathhouse is ok. Certainly not terrible but it won’t wow you. It would be better if the showers had a private “dry area”. That’s the one part about the bathhouse I don’t care for. You either stand in the wet shower to dress and possibly get your clothes wet or come out naked. But if you don’t need to shower in there it’s awesome!

RV Park in a state park

Brand new campground. Nice gravel sites. Some are waterfront. A little less “outdoor feeling” than other Florida state parks but very comfortable. The park itself is great with an amazing beach.
