Vortex Spring

North Florida's Vortex Spring operates as a dive-focused campground where spring water activities take center stage. The property accommodates RVs up to 40 feet with full hookups, plus tent sites and cabin rentals across level, tree-dotted terrain. A dive shop anchors the facility, reflecting the site's primary appeal to scuba enthusiasts exploring the spring's underwater caves.

The campground provides multiple recreation options beyond diving. Water slides, rope swings, and swimming areas utilize the spring water, while bike trails, hiking paths, and Jeep trails extend across the property. Rusty R. notes the variety: "Swimming, diving, water slides, swings, bike trails hiking trails, and Jeep trails." Fire pits allow evening campfires, though some reviewers report maintenance issues with these features.

Facility conditions receive mixed feedback from visitors. Several reviews mention cleanliness concerns in restrooms and shower facilities, with some campers reporting missing picnic tables and inconsistent upkeep. The staff primarily caters to divers, which may affect the experience for traditional campers. Those seeking camping options in the broader region can explore campsites near Ponce de Leon for additional choices.

Reservations help secure preferred sites during busy diving seasons, particularly for RVers requiring full hookups and level parking.

Visitors often highlighted the level, treed sites and diving-focused activities, but recurring comments addressed serious concerns about dirty facilities and rude staff. The campground caters primarily to divers rather than traditional campers.

Old and run down. The staff are lazy

As far as the campground goes, the ground is nice and even with fire pits and trees. But the bathrooms and showers are dirty and gross. The staff is lazy and rude. The grounds are rundown. The slides look dirty and unsafe. Over it was over priced for the experience offered.

Horrible Camping Amenities

Absolutely horrible service. They mostly cater to divers. The fire pits are full of trash, bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in years, and we didn't even have a picnic table at our site. We told them yesterday after we checked in and they said they would have someone bring one out. It's day two and still don't have one. Campground store employees are very rude and no help at all. We are not snobs by any means but we will never come back here. Absolutely worst place we have stayed at yet in our teardrop camper.

Fun

Great little campground. Not like other RV parks. More of a camping feel which is exactly what we wanted. We loved it.

Awesome place to visit

I've been here a couple of times for diving and hanging out with friends this place was great. They have rooms available, cabins available, RV spots, and areas to set up a tent. There are many things to do on property. Swimming, diving, water slides, swings, bike trails hiking trails, and Jeep trails.

Scuba Diving

Primarily setup around Scuba Diving. Dive shop on site. Cabins, group cabins, tents and RV sites. Although a great place, not recommended for children. A lot of cussing in the dive shop by staff. Other then that Great.
