Monticello, Florida serves as a strategic base for travelers along Interstate 10, with several RV parks and campgrounds positioned for convenient overnight stays. Tallahassee East Campground (formerly KOA) offers year-round accommodations with full hookups for RVs and tent camping options. Just a quarter mile from I-10, A Stone's Throw RV Park in nearby Lamont provides easy access for travelers while maintaining reasonable rates. Madison RV Resort and Golf Course, located about 30 minutes east, offers a more destination-oriented experience with its 95 sites, 9-hole golf course, and amenities designed primarily for adults. The camping landscape ranges from basic overnight stops to more developed resorts with recreational facilities.

Road noise is a common consideration at campgrounds near the interstate, with several reviewers noting the highway sounds at properties close to I-10. As one camper at A Stone's Throw noted, "This park is literally 1/4 mile off of I-10 (you hear the traffic, which did not bother us)." Most RV parks in the area feature full hookups with 30/50 amp service, though site spacing varies considerably between properties. The region experiences typical North Florida weather patterns with hot, humid summers when insects can be problematic. Several campgrounds offer laundry facilities and clean bathhouses, making them suitable for longer stays. Cell service is generally reliable near the interstate corridor but may diminish at more remote locations.

Campers seeking more natural settings can explore Suwannee River State Park, located within driving distance, which receives consistently high ratings for its trails and river access. "We've been to about 10 state parks in Florida and we loved this one the most. It's very well maintained and super clean and the bathhouse looks new," reported one visitor. Dog-friendly accommodations are common throughout the area, with several parks offering designated pet areas. Madison RV Resort features a spacious fenced dog park spanning approximately two acres. Most campgrounds in the region cater primarily to RV travelers, though tent camping is available at select locations. Budget-conscious travelers will find options ranging from basic sites at Rocky's Campground (around $9 for primitive tent camping) to more upscale resorts with rates exceeding $40 per night.

      Valdosta Oaks RV Park

      Good for a stopover

A basic no frills campground. They do have a men’s and women’s shower at the office building which is located at the far end of the campground. Showers were clean and air conditioned. Laquita Inn literally looks out over the campground. Burger King and Wawa a three minute walk. Sites are all gravel and semi level at best. A tractor with box blade and engineers level would do wonders for improvement of the sites. Virtually no shade trees. A couple here and there. All sites are pull thru with full hookups which is a positive. Although it backs up to Interstate 75 there was minimal noise. Owner was friendly and check it in was simple. They honor Good Sam discounts. Met a couple of very friendly campers although for the most part it’s very quiet as far as camper activity. You can make last minute reservations if need be. Office opens at 11:00 am and closes at 5:00. Although the park manager is available starting around 8:00 am driving around on a golf cart. He was very friendly and helpful. A number of restaurants within two miles if you have a toad or take an Uber.

      Newport Park Campground

      Small but functional

Very small county campground. Went selected for location to bike trails and beaches. Bathhouses were mostly clean but well worn. No personal on site most of the time. Handful of long term people who are friendly.

      Brown House Hunt Camp

Beautiful, but bumpy roads and ticks

The location was beautiful with lots of birds chirping and not a lot of people around. The road to get here is flat and compact sand/dirt, but has a huge divots so you have to be careful and not go too fast.

We ended up leaving early because of the number of ticks that were present. Within a span of 30 minutes, I found and killed 7 just on myself.

Pets are allowed. Fires are allowed. There is a dumpster close to this campground. There are a couple picnic tables.

      Coe Landing Campground

Beautiful park right on the lake

Very nice county park. I only stayed one night and it was very comfortable. I felt like I was out in the woods. Sites were not too close together.  If i'm in the area I will stay their again.

      Hall Landing Campground

      Quiet and Scenic

This small county primitive campground has 10 campsites plus a small group site. It is well maintained and has a friendly camp host. Most of the sites have a beautiful lake view. All sites have water spigots with drinkable water but no electricity.

This campground is worth overlooking the frustrating, glitchy registration process through the county.

      Reed Bingham State Park Campground

      Spacious Level Site

We stay here often on trips north & south on I-75. Full hookups. Huge level sites. Sand gnats in summer! Clean new bath houses. Nice network of roads for e-bikes! Staff (Shannon) is the BEST! Took lots of time with us to straighten out issues online with our Friends of State Parks pass, etc.

      Holiday Campground

      Great location

Usually I’m a boondocker, but if I need to stay at a private RV place, this place is one of the nicest.
