A Stones Throw Lamont, Florida

RV travelers looking for a convenient overnight stop will find A Stones Throw positioned just a quarter mile off Interstate 10, making access straightforward for those following major travel routes. The campground provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, along with WiFi and basic laundry facilities. Sites accommodate larger rigs, though spacing runs tight with some spots requiring careful maneuvering for 42-foot units.

Highway noise from I-10 carries throughout the property, which reviewers note varies in impact depending on individual tolerance levels. The campground sits among tall trees that provide some natural screening, and features a large open field where pet owners can exercise their dogs. Most visitors use this location as a practical stopping point rather than a destination stay.

Andrew N. observed that "the spots are a little tight, but there were a lot of vacant spots so we did not feel crowded." Site selection matters here, with spot #1 receiving specific recommendations from guests. The town of Monticello lies about four miles north, providing access to a Winn Dixie and other local businesses for supplies. For those exploring the region, campsites near Monticello offer additional options.

Rates run $28-$32 per night with military discounts available. Single washer and dryer units serve the entire campground at $2 and $1.50 respectively.

Convenient overnight stop directly off I-10 with level sites and good pet amenities. Highway noise and tight spacing noted, but many found it suitable for short stays with the wooded atmosphere.

Ok for 1 night.

They don’t really have an office. It’s an odd arrangement. I had picked site 11 but she said we’d wouldn’t fit. When going on line it asks what type and length your RV is so I thought any would fit since it didn’t say otherwise. But she put us in a larger site. It was fairly easy getting into the site. Early evening another 5th wheel pulled in next to us so made it pretty tight. We had only a few inches from each others slides. They are tight spots. There was no place to really park our truck so my husband parked part of it under the front of the camper in order to stay off the grass. Later we had a knock at the door and she said he had to move the truck as it was in the way of traffic coming in the park. Only place to park it was in the site next to us that was already utilized but it was a van type camper. Not sure where we would have parked if it had been filled with a regular sized RV. Our camper is 42’ and it took up the entire space. The people next to us had a car behind their 5th wheel and a small trailer attached to it. Both stuck out in the road behind us. If you don’t have the room to accommodate a 42’ 5th wheel that you know will have a truck with it then don’t take one that large!!! When we left this morning there were a lot of campers there and a few vehicles parked along the street. We had no issues pulling out of the site.

Off The Road

We do not like traveling far off our route to stop for the night. We also prefer to pay for FHU and this was $42 for us with military discount. This park is literally 1/4 mile off of I-10 (you hear the traffic, which did not bother us). The spots are a little tight, but there were a lot of vacant spots so we did not feel crowded. A dog run and nice big mowed field were available for our dogs. Not much immediately nearby, but the town of Monticello is about 4 miles north of the park with a Winn Dixie and other small merchants. A simple overnight stop along I-10. we would stop here again. A single washer ($2.00) and dryer ($1.50) was helpful. If you can get spot #1, that's what I would ask for. Safe Travels.

Easy off of I10

Our AC drowned out the traffic noise. It is nestled into some tall trees. Cons for me was there were lots of smokers. It was fine for one nights stay.

Good over night stay

I was worried when I booked it but it is actually a cute campground for those overnight stays. It is literally along the highway and so easy to get too. It keep in mind along the highway means highway noise. We wear earplugs at night so it didn’t bother us. The sites are close together but it also has that woodsy feel, even next to the freeway, that it wasn’t that bad and didn’t feel overly claustrophobic. People were friendly and there was a large field next to us that we took our dogs to to let off energy and do their thing. Sometimes with these along the road places you don’t know what you will get but this one is one I would recommend. It feels safe and I am not worried about my gas cans missing overnight.
