Great place by the river

Great place by the river, with picnic table, deep fire ring, and gravel area to hang out in. Had a good night here roasting marshmallows and hanging out by the fire. We stayed here on a Monday night in June and saw two other campers there, but no one close to us. There is a little road noise that died off in the evening and was replaced by the sound of the river.

Small and unassuming

I camped here one night when I needed a last-minute place to pitch a tent on a weeknight during summer. I believe this is a first-come, first-served location. Not too far from both Gunnison and Crested Butte, the location is decent enough, and the sound from the Gunnison River helped cover the sounds from the adjacent road. This campground is no frills BLM camping. Be ready for a basic site, a vault toilet, and ok campsites. It was just what I needed for the night.

Right on the river

Great spot below Crested Butte. We could hear the river as we relaxed.
