Electric hookups and vault toilets make One Mile Campground a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Taylor River corridor. The Forest Service facility sits along Highway 135, where Monica G. found "very clean bathrooms and power" during her four-night stay.

Sites accommodate RVs up to 99 feet with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service, though campers should note water availability varies by season. The campground spreads through mixed aspen and pine forest, with sites offering varying degrees of privacy among the trees. Road noise from the highway carries through the area, but reviewers report it diminishes significantly at night. Sites deeper into the campground experience less traffic sound.

Cell coverage runs strong on major carriers, making remote work feasible for those who need connectivity. The Taylor River flows just across the road, providing easy water access for fishing or cooling off. Red rock cliffs rise on the opposite side of the valley, creating morning views from many sites. "Road noise was ever present and creek just across the road," notes one visitor who appreciated the trade-off between highway access and natural features.

The campground works well for travelers wanting full hookups without sacrificing forest camping, particularly those hauling larger rigs through the Gunnison Valley.

Visitors often highlighted clean facilities and reliable power service, plus excellent cell coverage. Road noise from the highway is consistently present but many found the creek sounds and scenic cliff views compensated well.

Great spot!

Great spot! We stayed here for about 4 nights in mid-June. Perfect weather, very clean bathrooms and power. Great cell signal for working remotely.

Very Pretty

I thought One Mile Campground was really, really nice for an RV stay. I’d probably give it 4.5 stars if I could. HOWEVER: at least for 2021, the campground DOES NOT HAVE WATER so you’ll have to fill up elsewhere (we filled up in Gunnison, you can also fill up in surrounding campgrounds or Crested Butte). The campground is spotless, and though it’s primitive (vault toilets), it had 20/30/50 amp power. The sites are pretty private though not always shaded because they’re surrounded by aspens, wildflowers, and pines. The views of steep, rocky cliffs across the street are beautiful and it’s a great place to stargaze. The road noise is present, but it’s much quieter at night and you can mitigate it by staying at sites further into the campground. It really didn’t bother me and it normally does. The cell service on T-Mobile was amazing. I’d highly recommend site 23.

Okay Tent and rv camping next to road (near creek) with great morning cliff views

Did not stay here due to 30$ price tag but toured it. Small okay sites with not much to offer but clean and well administered. Road noise was ever present and creek just across the road. Like nearly all campgrounds along this creek, it was a long and narrow set of options. Site 22 (only site available) was quite pretty in young aspen with wooden fence at base of small cliffs. Table but no bear boxes. Toilets and water. The morning views of the red rock cliffs just across canyon must be wonderful. Host seemed nice and honest and straight. We ended up across the street at north bank for 18$... And camping inches from the creek.

Nice riverfront campground

Big Rig friendly. 30 amp service. Good cell service on Verizon. Some highway noise but the river just on the otherside makes it an enjoyable place to camp. Clean bathrooms.
