Sweet USFS campground

The other reviews all have good info. More than half the sites can accommodate rigs up to 30' many have a LOT of privacy....for a campground.... Fishing is great for brownies, maybe an occasional rainbow. Short drive into Gunnison. If peace and quiet are your thing, you'll love this place. As an exploration base for area adventures, maybe a campground with electricity would be more your flavor.

Roaring River-Quiet Humans

Small campground in the Gunnison National Forest, closest to Gunnison and Crested Butte, spelled Rosy and Rosey, depending on what sign or website you see! Even though just off Hwy 742, you can barely make out traffic noise! Clean and the sites are awesome! Some sites have been refurbished with paved pads and heavy metal picnic tables. Hosts very friendly and informative about the area. A few rafters and kayakers came by during the day floating the lower Taylor River (Taylor River Class II-III rapids, with some Class IV on the upper Taylor River). Awesome cliffs to view right outside our door. Our site #4 also had two large tent pads. There is a paved path through most of the campground along and up from the river's edge. Fishing was good... lots of little pools to cast into! There is one restroom building with vault toilets which were very clean, and there is community water only (no electric). Lots of wildlife and springtime flora to dazzle your eyes! There are bears and mountain lions in this area, of course and gratefully so! Fires are allowed in fire pits only on no-Red Flag warning days. Little to no internet service, cell service is okay. Be prepared to be cradled and loved by Mother Nature! One of her finest spots is here!!

Great little getaway

Great spot. Good fishing and the tenant was very helpful. I wasn’t a huge fan of site 1 as it sits right next to the main road but otherwise beautiful sites. The only potable water source (far as I could tell) was inaccessible as of 6/15/19. Plenty of access points to the river at camp and along the road for fishing, rafting, etc. would definitely go back.

Peaceful

Very peaceful, beautiful campground. Right on Taylor River, you can fish or just sit and relax and listen to the water! Restrooms are clean and the camp host, Denise, is so nice and helpful!

Rosy Lane Campground

This campground is in the Gunnison National Forest along the Taylor river. It does have a highway next to it so there is road noise. The camp sites are fairly secluded from each other. There is water available but no electricity. Several tent sites are available but there is room for RV’s. The river makes it serene. Rosy Lane is heavily treed. Frequently, deer are in the campground and occasionally a bear.
