Great place by the river, with picnic table, deep fire ring, and gravel area to hang out in. Had a good night here roasting marshmallows and hanging out by the fire. We stayed here on a Monday night in June and saw two other campers there, but no one close to us. There is a little road noise that died off in the evening and was replaced by the sound of the river.
The views are amazing here. Not all the sites are level, and this place can get a bit muddy if it rains, which it did for us. Established stone fireplace rings on all sites. Traffic noise from the main road carries, but dies off at night. Sites on right side of road are lower and can get muddier.
Amazing views here. We got here after 6 and had to park close to others in an open area. Talked to them and they didn't mind. Everyone really nice. Lots of people here but the views are amazing. Very peaceful sitting next to Spring Creek.
The road is rough heading up. I made it up there but got stuck. Three spots up there and they are close together. I met David who thankfully had some traction pads which helped me get unstuck. Ended up staying at Kendall. Don't go up here unless you have 4 wheel drive and use caution if it is wet.
We rolled in about 5 pm on a Thursday and there were plenty of open sites. Big sites that are pretty flat with existing stone fireplace rings on all sites we saw. Only saw one person walking their dog and a couple of cars pass on the road. Very quiet, was a peaceful night.
We ended up here by mistake, thinking we were at the Sacred White shell BLM. Glad we did though. Great views of The Twin Peaks and Blanca Peak. Lots of flat open space down low. We stopped as the road steepened and set up in a big spot that was close to the road. No complaints considering we got here an hour before dark. Views for miles here!
