Reservation needed

An empty campground, tired family and the host can't let us take a space because we don't have a reservation two weeks prior. If I could give this a zero star I would!

Nice spot nearby

Tons of hiking trails, summit trail was nearby our spot in Juniper, no water available when we went, gates are closed sunset-sunrise, all around a cool spot and its nice how close it is to home. Seems pretty difficult to get a reservation, but its worth it if you can get in

3 campgrounds, Juniper the best, but sunset lock-in

Mt. Diablo SP has 3 campgrounds: Live Oak, Juniper, and several first come first serve sites at the junction of South Gate and North Gate roads about 2000ft up the mountain.

Live Oak is the closest to the entrance (and town), and features some cool rock formations to explore, but it's colder,…

Camping w/ Family

An excellent place to camp that's just minutes away from San Francisco. Trails are well kept and maintained.

Expensive for this campground

Full hookup but sites are very tight and it’s noisy being right against the freeway. Other campers are noisy running their cars and motorcycles at night. We were to b in site 22 by office but it was taken. Lady didnt seem to know her sites very well. She told ys 25 was available it someone was in…

Nice dirt free campground

As others have said, close neighbors and gravel, but it's level and clean. Lady at the front desk was very cordial, bathrooms and showers clean, free excellent wifi and over 100 TV channels with full hookups. San Fran price though.

A fantastic KOA

I have stayed here several times and always have a great experience. Large park with a variety of sites. Great pool and tons of stuff to keep the kids occupied. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating.

Oak trees are dangerous

Nice clean plots, rangers were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately for me I timed my visit when the wind was supposed to pick up (so no camp fire). Some of the plots are covered by nice big shady oak trees with Andre the Giant thumb sized acorns. When the wind blew those things turned into…

Campground Cul-de-Sac

This site is a nice hidden gem that many won't know even has a campground. While tiny and available only for a small number of campers, if you can get a spot booked well in advance, you'll have the place nearly all to yourself. Located just off of 680, you'll take Bollinger Canyon Road where you'll…

  • From the parking lot, you'll walk 100 paces to come to this gate, push and enter
  • Looking back at the parking lot (where there's a solid 70 or so parking spots) - careful, on the weekend, this place gets crowded!
  • Keep this gate shut, otherwise we'll have cows on the highway!

Meh CG and short sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 61, a“Premium” Pull-through site, for 3 days in early October, while visiting family in the area. This is probably the most critical review of a CG that we have posted in the 2 years we’ve be full-timing and…

Great camp for the kids

This KOA is pretty big with plenty of options for RV sites. Wide variety of full hook-ups or partial hook-ups. Like most (if not all) KOAs, you can also tent camp or tent cabins. Good size dog park for the pets to run and be free, as well as plenty of fun activities to entertain the kiddos. For us,…
