Experience nature and adventure at historic White Rock Mountain! This National Forest Recreation Area features three unique and rustic natural stone cabins and a large natural stone lodge built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Each features a stone fireplace new, antique, and original wood furniture handcrafted by the CCC. Wind, rain and natural elements had caused the deterioration of the buildings over the years. In 1987 a volunteer group, Friends of White Rock, began a project to renovate the historic structures. With a lot of commitment and hard work, the lodge and cabins were restored to their original state in 1991. White Rock Mountain also offers nine primitive family camping sites. These easily accessible shaded campsites include tents pads, fire rings, grills, picnic tables and access to restrooms and water. Small RVs or pop-up campers can be accommodated at a few sites.
White Rock Mountain is the hub of several national forest hiking trail systems including the easy 2 mile trail around the mountain top rim, the 17 mile Shores Lake/White Rock loop trail, and the renowned 170 mile Ozark Highlands Trail. Other recreational activities include swimming, boating (non-motorized) or fishing at Shores Lake Recreation Area; swimming, floating or fishing the National Scenic Mulberry River; Mill Creek and other National Forest ATV trails; mountain biking, hunting and more.
White Rock Mountain is 2,309 feet above sea level and received its name from the appearance of the lichen on the sheer bluffs that appear white from a distance. Guests at White Rock can enjoy incredible scenic views from the lodge, cabins, campground and bluffs. The forest is home to a large variety of wildlife including deer, bear, bald eagles, turkey and more. In the fall season White Rock Mountain offers unrivaled opportunities for taking in the bright red, orange and yellow autumn foliage that sweeps across the Ozark National Forest. Rules & Reservation Policies As you make travel plans that include reservations on Recreation.gov, there are standard policies that apply to most locations of which you should be aware. Do keep in mind, however, that there are many exceptions, so it is best to review reservation information listed on individual facility pages for those policies and procedures that pertain to your specific locations. Booking Window For most locations, you can reserve six months in advance of your stay for individual sites and 12 months in advance for group sites. There are some exceptions, so it is best to check with each facility. Change and Cancellation Policies and Fees Overnight and Day Use Facilities: To ensure fairness, reservation arrival or departure dates may not be changed beyond the booking window until 18 days after booking the reservation. Individual Campsites: If a customer cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival they will be charged a $10.00 service fee and will also forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a single night's reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation fee will apply. Cabins / Lookouts: Customers will be charged a $10.00 cancellation fee and forfeit the first night's use fee if a cabin or lookout reservation is cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date. Cancellations for a single night's use will not be assessed a service fee. Group Facility: If a customer cancels a group overnight facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date they will be charged the $10.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee. Group Day Use Area: If a customer cancels a group day use facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date, they will forfeit the total day use fee with no service fee charge. Making for great camping near Tulsa, Natural Falls State Park gets its name due to the unique water feature found inside the park’s Dripping Springs. Soaring 77 feet above the flat lands of the nearby Oklahoma/Arkansas border, one of the largest waterfalls in the region cascades down into the depths of the grassland valley below. Natural Falls State Park is most famously known for its cameo in the 1974 movie “Where the Red Fern Grows” which was filmed here. Lake Wedington beckons visitors of many types, those who come to relax and fish all day, those who come to speed along on bike paths or cruise on a boat, and those who want to stay in a cabin as a lakeside home-away-from-home. The recreation area also offers convenient access, as it is located just 13 miles west of Fayetteville, and 13 miles east of Siloam Springs. The facility offers several rental cabins, campsites and picnic sites alongside its the lake. Each offers access to a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. The area can be accessed by vehicle and a parking space should be available. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities at Lake Wedington. Those who enjoy water activities can go boating (with a motor that is 10hp or less), kayaking and canoeing, as well as fishing on the lake. Anglers can seek out Bluegill, Largemouth and Spotted Bass, Bream, and Channel Catfish, and several other species. Anglers who like a challenge can attempt to fish for one of the few large Grass Carp that occupy the lake. A former world-record Grass Carp was caught out of Lake Wedington, weighing a total of 80 pounds. Lake Wedington also has a dedicated area for those who want to go swimming, picnic, play a round of Volleyball or Horseshoes, and a variety of playground equipment. Surrounding the park, youll find trails that accommodate hikers and mountain bikers. The Lakeshore Hiking Trail circles a large portion of the lake. The North Twin hiking and mountain biking trial extends for sixteen miles from the facility. Hunting is not permitted within the recreation grounds of Lake Wedington, but there are sites surrounding the recreation area that are open to seasonal hunting. Please contact staff or Arkansas Game and Fish for further information on hunting regulations within this unit.
Visitors will find a variety of wildlife, trees, ferns, and wildflowers surrounding the 102-acre Lake. Wildlife in the area includes rabbits, deer, songbirds, and wild turkeys as well as an array of migratory waterfowl. In winter, eagles may be sighted flying around the park. Fall leaves put on quite a show, often attracting photographers. Sloping hills in the area offer great vantage points to take photos of the lake, especially from the Gazebo located just off of Lakeshore Trail. When the lake is high, hikers are presented with a cascading waterfall that can also be found when walking along the Lakeshore Trail. There are many natural features that can be spotted throughout the area to those who keep a keen eye out for them.
With Fayetteville approximately 15 miles East, Siloam Springs 14 miles West, and Lincoln/Prairie Grove within 15 miles South of Lake Wedington, there are many attractions to choose from. A variety of restaurants and food venues can be found in and around all cities and towns. In Fayetteville you will find a large variety of event venues, museums, shops, golf clubs, and theaters. In Siloam Springs you can find a variety of shops, group activity venues, and the Kayak Park. Around Lincoln you will find a few shops, restaurants, and event/activity venues. In Prairie Grove you will also find a variety of shops, restaurants, and parks. There are many attractions available at, and surrounding, Lake Wedington. Prairie Creek Campground sits along the vast shores of Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, offering spacious and sunny campsites and an abundance of recreational activities.
Fishing opportunities are plentiful near Prairie Creek Campground. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water, and anglers can try their luck at catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Just below the dam, the cold waters of the upper White River provide a perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-size German brown trout. We didn't know what to expect. This place has absolutely everything you could need. Full Hookups, level sites (mostly gravel but level), shop with souvenirs and RV gadgets. The office also has a gameroom, pantry, and propane. We didn't get to use the playground area this visit as pool and hot tub were closed for the year. They also have normal cabin rental and tiny home rentals that were perfectly positioned around campground and fishing pond. My only complaint would be that the sites are really compact. Plenty of room for your RV but so close that you can hear and smell your neighbors. Nearby Walmart and restaurants were handy.

We bought our first camper this year and have loved staying at Devil's Den. We made 4 trips there and enjoyed each one. The RV sites have full hookups and most are well shaded. There's easy access to Lee Creek and trails that lead from the campground around to the dam, pool and gift shop.
They also have a horse camp, tent camping, cabins and camper cabins. Whether you're looking to relax or explore one of the many hiking trails, there's something for everyone!

I don’t normally leave reviews, but my experience at the facility needs to be shared.
I called the number provided and was able to find out info on cabin rentals . I asked what I would need to bring and a young girl explained just cooking pot and pans. I asked about a fire pit since I wanted to have a fire for hot dogs and marshmallows. Yes there are large pits was the answer. Thank goodness I camp on the regular, I’ll explain soon. She did warn me there are chickens near the cabin I wanted. Well good, I thought, I wouldn’t miss my own flock so bad.
Upon arrival, before noon, the office was closed. I walked back to my truck to get the phone number and saw a truck with a camp logo on it driving by, leaving…. Same young girl answers and says she is heading back to check me in. I get the key and drive over , get parked, and see the chicken coop, it’s pretty close to the cabin. The next thing I see is a big fire pit; full of trash! Flies everywhere! Well that can be cleaned up, right? There was chicken poo all over the steps and deck. That can be cleaned up , right? So I opened the door, flies and a dank smell hit me hard. . Nice. It appeared that the inside had not been cleaned either, sticky stuff on the stove, sink and fridge. The shower was a joke. There were extension cords running through a sliding window which left a half inch gap just open to the outside…. I plugged that with paper towels I had brought. There was a king size bed , but the pillows and sheets were stained. I found dead flies in the fridge as well. Before I brought anything in, I wiped down all of the surfaces. I spread my sleeping bag out on top of the provided bedding and covered up with a couple of blankets. I always bring towels as well, I’m glad I did, those are not provided either. I had also brought T - paper as a precaution, so glad I did…..
I really just wanted to make the best of this and I know it’s hard to keep these river cabins clean so I decided to tough it out. The next morning, I paid for my float and asked if I could have bags to clean out the fire pit… but then asked if THEY could clean it while I floated, the young girl handed me three trash bags and said “some one was supposed to get that”. I laid the trash bags on a log near the pit so they could be used.
My float went well and was great fun. Upon my return to the cabin, the fire pit trash had been burned and a plastic bag was still smoldering! There were still tin cans and other debris in there, and it stunk! So , I could not / would not use it for cooking or just lounging around! Later, I was hungry and decided to use the oven. When I opened it, there was a skillet with old moldy food in it! It smelled horrible and I gagged! I took a pic of the offending skillet and showed it to the other office worker; a lady and her little girl.
She said that she usually is the one that cleans , but she didn’t do this cabin this time.
She closed the office, called the owner, and removed the offending skillet. She stated there would be something done…. There was never an offer of compensation of any kind. My recommendation is don’t stay in the cabins.
The campground as a whole was just worn down and trashy. The staff were nice but didn’t really seem to want to be there.

No pets in yurts. Yes to Cats ❣️. My cats travel campgrounds and usually are outdoors but here I kept them in cabin because they would not like it outdoors. Cabins had AC but smelled like dust polish. Gorgeous forest views in the shower house. HOT water when shower is on Cold setting. Cold at hot. Cool affordable camp store. Nice people. Too much cinnamon spray in all indoor areas but not cabins. 24 hour rec room w AC and a wall of movies and games and books and cozy couch. Hurricane machine and fresh yummy donuts are not to be missed. My son is Big and found the camp cabin too crowded small and didn't like the leather beds even with our bedding on them. I found it cozy except the polish but couldn't open it up because we wanted the cats indoors here. Great porch swing, nice condition. Microwave and fridge. Friendly staff.

LegendGreat park with beautiful trails, caves, a plethora of wildlife, and lots of CCC history. This park offers everything from primitive, hike-in camping to cabins and everything in between (including a full hook-up area). Park also has a pool. Remember, if pulling a camper, take exit 53, do NOT go through Winslow. The road is beautiful but VERY curvy and steep. Lots to do and see. A must.
Scoutcalled on June 27th to reserve a cabin for 6, Saturday the 2nd- 4th, At first was told they had no cabins available about 15 min after I made the call John the owner calls me back to tell me they had a cabin that was a 2 room available for theses dates and it was 100 per night and would sleep 6. I said we would like to reserve it. After hanging up called to inform my husband that we got a cabin then remember that I forgot to see if dogs were allowed, so I had to call back to make sure cause I can’t leave my fur babies. When I called it was a young girl that answered and said yes dogs were allowed and proceeded to talk about her 2 little puppies that were in the office with her. When packing and getting everything we needed together on Friday the day before we left we called to make sure the cabin had bedding and towels etc.. the young girl said yes. We get to sparrow resort on Saturday afternoon 2 young girls checked us in gave me a key pointed us in the direction of the cabin we pulled up to a cabin unloading all our stuff and unpacked was at this 2 bedroom cabin for approximately 2hours when John the owner came to this cabin told us we was at the wrong cabin I told them the key unlocked it. They said this was not cabin 2 and the people that reserved it would be up later so we gathered our things and moved to the cabin they said was ours that was next door. OH MY WAS WE LET DOWN. Mind you we have 2adult children myself and husband and 2 teenagers and 4 dogs they put us in a concrete prison that had missing curtains holes around the air conditioning window unit It was dirty holes in the walls. One king size bed a chair and a futon couch one room box. Bedding on bed only with a dirty comforter. For$100 a night not including the float trip. We were let down but determined to make the best of this we went to the store and bought bedding and towels and cleaning wipes. The next morning get up and noticed no one was in the 1st cabin still. So my daughter and I go to the office to get out float paid for and ask if we could get the bigger cabin since no one was in it told them I would pay more for it the little brown haired girl said yes then the other girl with a nose piercing said no it was booked and we should have had to pay a pet deposit of 15 a dog and we needed to pay this fee and was nasty with me. I said I wanted to by one raft and 2 tube rentals she keep saying and 60 pet deposit the brown haired girl rung up the float while the nasty teenager kept repeating and pet deposit the other girl stated stop worrying about the deposit and she kept saying it! The sign read tube float for 4 hours was only$20 and the raft was 25 per person for 4hours she charged us 30 x 6 people to float the 4 mile I said the 20 tube for 4 hours she nasty teen says that for just playing in the water😡 really the sign clearly says 4hour float only$20 and 25 for rafting over 4 people. I ask again about the other cabin the nasty girl said Chelsea and her 2 daughters were staying in it. Really because Chelsea and John the owner were the ones that came to the cabin the day before and Chelsea said she was the cleaning lady and John was the owner. Always we paid our pet deposit and float trip and tried to make the best of this regardless i a grown woman not to be argumentative with a child. This morning comes and we can’t wait to leave we cleaned the crap out of our concrete box prison and went to to office to return our key and get my 60 dollar pet deposit back and the nasty little teen was by herself while we started recording the whole encounter since day prior I ask for my pet deposit she said it don’t work like that I said excuse me you say deposit that means I get my deposit back if no damage was done. John came in and said what do we want he said you want your deposit here thank for staying and goodbye🤯wow what service. The best part the large cabin stayed vacant the entire time. The teenager that was running John’s business will be his downfall she don’t know how to treat people VERY DISRESPECTFUL!!! Will never be back!!

The views, as other reviewers have said, are impressive and the Rim Trail is worth doing any time of day and any season.
One warning on the cabins though - in summer be prepared for some bugs. Stayed in Cabin B in August one summer with my wife, who is tougher than anything but spiders. I would have been wise to get there a couple hours earlier and let her relax while I cleaned the place thoroughly. They were pretty thick throughout.
It's not that they're dirty, it's just that they're old buildings which aren't used every day surrounded by forest. Naturally, you get spiders, rodents, etc. It didn't bother me at all, but it did her. Water pressure and hot water were not what one would hope if you want a shower as well.
We both enjoyed the setting, loved the cabin otherwise, and loved the hikes. We've done day hikes there with the kids' since, and in a prior visit I saw a bear go lumbering in front of my truck on the road to White Rock. Only time in 40+ years I've seen a bear in the wild in Arkansas, and I grew up in the country!
Still recommend White Rock, but if you're considering the cabins it's worth bringing cleaning supplies. Even with that, they're a great bargain.
GuideI have tent camped, stayed in a cabin and used the “camper cabins” at this park. The tent sites are great and conveniently located next to a bathhouse. The camper cabins were awesome and also right next to an immaculate bathhouse. The cabins are older, but rustic and perfect. There is a pool. There are hiking trails of all difficulty levels and many points of interest. This is easily my favorite campground! Absolutely gorgeous!

We went in the off season and got a creek March snowstorm our group sampled a little of everything they had to offer. Some tent camping, some staying in the cabins and some in the new bike cabins. They were working on renovating the cabins and adding new tent pads when we were there. Overall was a good place showers were ok but showing their age. Direct access to trails and lake very nice. The wife and I rented a cabin April 2021 River was in flood stage. We were there to attend a group motorcycle ride. The camp management very hospitable. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. Enjoyed the stay we will be back.

GuideSeveral great trails. The trails cover wooded hills, follow and cross rivers, take you right up to the edge of cave entrances, cliffs and past waterfalls. Just a great little place. The park is clean, campsites as well and the cabins are snug little deals.
RangerGreat place to camp, been coming here my entire life and it has changed very little in that time. Boating, fishing, swimming, cabins available, lots of trails to hike. Just minutes from Mt Magazine and the town of Paris. Friendly staff.

Horseshoe canyon ranch is an awesome place. There are many places to camp as well as bathrooms. It is a spectacular place to climb from beginner to advanced! The ranch also has cabins and horseback rides. Check out their website for more info.

We camped at Ramble Ridge August 6-8 in one of their cabins. We were there for a getaway to Eureka Springs, and decided to camp instead of staying in a hotel. The owners of Ramble Ridge were beyond friendly and helpful. They gave us recommendations on things to do and try while we were there. We had one of our party members forget the frame of their tent. The owners offered us a tent to use because of this. Then, they had someone cancel a stay for the same time period, and allowed our friend to stay in the camper at no charge.
The campground itself is wonderfully secluded and very nature-friendly. We had a campfire both nights we were there while enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. The campground has several great hiking trails that lead down into a valley. We didn't get to see them ourselves, but there are cliffs at the bottom of one of the trails next to a creek. Checkout was a breeze. The checkout time is 2:00pm, which makes it much less stressful to pack up and leave. The owners let us know that since they didn't have another booking for that day, we could check out a bit later than 2:00.
If you want to have one of the easiest camping trips with extremely kind and helpful owners, Ramble Ridge is an easy win. We will absolutely be returning in the future.

The sites are not all level so be picky with what site you choose, we always go find an empty spot that will work first, they have horse camps, tv sites, and camper spots as well as small cabins, each spot has different amenities but most have electric and running water near!

Cute adorable cabin. Perfect size for 4 of us. My husband, teenage son & daughter & myself went for Fri - Sun trip last weekend of October. Only problem was smell that came from toilet because I guess they use water treatment system and or septic system. Everything else was great, quiet and peaceful at night. We stayed gone during the day sightseeing. Would go again.
TravelerThis place is not your run of the mill rest stop. Car camp, hammock, tent camp, or rent one the cabins to enjoy the roaming goats and horses around the property. Infamously known in AR as one of the best climbing spots. It does get quite busy, so it’s best to arrive earlier in the day to claim a good spot.
LegendI had heard so many great things about this park but I was not that impressed. The sites are fairly close together. There’s no signs warning that if you are in a large RV you shouldn’t come in on a certain highway. They do have equestrian trails and a campground to accommodate campers with horses. They have a lot of hiking trails. There are cabins and a pool.
