Quiet, wildlife and great boondocking

Just a few minutes of travel along a dirt road, plenty of open space midweek. A couple portapots, and ok cell coverage. Lots of signs of wildlife: coyotes, horses, etc. we’d definitely come here again!

Winter in heaven

Been to this area a few time the sites are amazing quiet and beautiful, the trail up is bumpy and fun. The site had a fire pit and in winter everything was covered in snow and just breath taking. The town has supplies but is over priced so fuel up before going up there.

Spacious sites and amazing views

I love these sites, they seem to really embody the AZ southwest camping experience for me. Our site had a view of a trail where we watched equestrians ride by sporadically throughout the evening. We saw some snakes, coyotes, and other wildlife. This is a very nice site, and a quick drive from…

Nothing special

Big open parking area before heading to trail head. A little tight getting to the trailhead with small sites off the road where I saw a few van dwellers and just before the trail head was a vaulted toilet, I never checked it out. Once you made it to the trailhead, there’s a parking area and if to…

Free BLM dispersed camping

This is a good boondocking spot if you’re driving along the I-17. We spent one night here. The freeway is close enough to here in the background but far enough that you can easily fall asleep. There are a couple vault toilets when you pull off the pavement. A few other vehicles were camping in the…

Horse trailer spot for sure

Worked well enough for a bit of truck bed camping for the night while on a road trip/dirtbagging. 6 or 7 small horse pens on site and what appeared to be an old wire corral. Not really a great spot for tents but you could make it work for the night. Very large dirt lot would suit an LQ horse…

Campground Review

What a great find! We had no idea what to expect when we rolled down a long and lonely road from Phoenix out to Box Bar. But other people sure knew about it! There were lots of party people there, playing music, floating in the…

Escape the desert heat

Unimproved camping area, hard to get to and a cool old little mountain town. Don’t forget to stop for a beer in Cleator.

Peaceful and Beautiful

We dispersed camped over veterans weekend for Phoenix questival and were the only ones there. The port a potty was clean and there were picnic tables and a fire ring. Where else in phoenix can you pitch a tent 50 feet from a river?
