    Avalon Landing RV Park

    Absolutely Amazing Stay

I have stayed many places and this is by far my favorite! We stopped over for one night on our way home from Texas. As soon as my husband backed the camper in, I asked if we could stay two nights. So glad we did! Breathtaking views and we were able to fish behind our camper. You're so close to all the "action" without hearing or having to be part of it. They have a boat ramp, rent fishing poles & kayaks, swimming pool, club house, bathrooms, laundry room and a wonderful covered deck/outside area. The office staff were absolutely wonderful. Hope to stay here again ❤️

Retroville 1960s-70 Drive In Movie/TV Themed RV Park

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 – Quiet, Clean, and Super Responsive Owners

We stayed at Retroville in Freeport, FL from Thursday to Sunday in early August. It’s a very small, peaceful campground—just one gravel road with a cul-de-sac at the end, where there are a few waterfront sites. The grounds were very clean, and although the waterfront area is a marshy slope (more like a slew off the river), it added to the quiet, tucked-away atmosphere.

Sites are all gravel and full hookup, and while there’s not a ton of space between them, the campground never felt crowded or noisy. We didn’t see a bathhouse or laundry area, and the small office/store was closed while we were there, but it looked like it sold things like ice cream and small essentials.

The owners were extremely helpful and responsive, even though they were out of town during our stay. I booked last-minute after 9PM en route, and they still responded quickly and offered help—great customer service even from afar.

There’s not much to do at the campground itself, but we planned for that. It’s in a great location for day trips—about 30–45 minutes to beaches like Seaside, Miramar, Destin, and PCB. We swam at Vortex Springs (30 minutes away), biked trails around Seaside, and had dinner with live music at North Beach Social just across the bridge south of the campground—highly recommend that spot for food, drinks, and beachy vibes.

The campground has a fun retro theme with gas pumps and vintage signs, perfect for photos. Wi-Fi and cell service were spotty during our stay, but we expected that based on reviews. If you’re looking for a quiet, clean basecamp with super nice owners and don’t mind driving to the action, Retroville is a solid pick.

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

    Remote Primitive and Wild

Pros: Covered tent sites (we tent camped) portapottys, free for up to a week, boat launch, spaced out sites (pretty private). Has picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. Cons: Sites flood, lots of gaters (if you have small pets this is sketchy), gets a little busy on the weekends with the boaters, it's reaallllly far from the next town but there's a gas station 15mins away. Get gas before you go back to camp. It's beautiful and clean. About 45mins to pcola

    Open Pond Campground

    Open Pond

The campground is nicely maintained. The bath houses are not the cleanest, but not anywhere near the worst I have seen. But definitely not Buc-ee’s level. LOL But for $16 a day and an hour from Destin you can’t beat that. You can fish the pond (large) for catfish, brim, bass, and one other I don’t remember. Hiking trails are kept in great condition with the exception of a couple of spots. Blue Springs is a short hike and is crystal clear and cool to swim in. RVs can stay in C and D loops.

    Emerald Beach RV Park

    Great Place

My wife and I and my two furry friends(dogs) give Emerald RV Park a Five Star rating. We thought we had lost our little Yorkie in the park somewhere or she even left the park. We set out on a frantic search for her. I am riding my bike, and my wife is on foot yelling out her name. I go into the park office and tell them what has happened, and a member of the park staff puts out an immediate bulletin by text message to all current registered guests to look for her. I could not believe the immediate help we had from other RVers that came out to help search for the dog. Making a long story short, we found the dog in maybe 20 minutes in good health. We are so thankful for the help of the residents of the park and especially the staff at Emerald RV Park. We may add that the park is well kept and very dog friendly. It has all the facilities (in working order) needed for a long stay. The staff are friendly and especially helpful in unusual circumstances as we experienced. Thank you to the staff at Emeral RV Park.

Retroville 1960s-70 Drive In Movie/TV Themed RV Park

    Nostalgic Stay

We really enjoyed our few days at this park. Its newly open and full of details and has a great hollywood museum thst must not be missed. Its very close to the 30a beach area but is hidden. There were a couple of famous Nashville musicians there also camping! The owners take great care of the park and its small and they have mo plans to make it into a parking lot with too many campers.

    Mystic Springs

Had to run off people out of our sight

Pulled up to our reserved spot and there were campers in our spot. We forced them out so we could set up..They tried to tell us there were open spots down the road ... Told them they can go to those spots since I booked this one. Woke up to beautiful sounds of nature and someone coughing up a lung for hours! The campsite itself was very nice, clean, and big. Just wished we had better company around us. We will give it another try later this year.
