RV parks near R.D. Bailey Lake include Backwoods Camping & RV Park with full hookup sites and Brushcreek Falls RV Resort offering electric, water, and sewer connections for larger motorhomes. Several parks accommodate big rigs, including Shady Rest RV Park which provides 50-amp electric service and sewer hookups on primarily gravel sites. "The RV sites are large and easy to access to back into your site," noted one camper about Hilltop Escape. Twin Falls Resort State Park Campground has electric hookups but no sewer connections at individual sites, requiring use of the dump station for longer stays.

Most campgrounds in the area maintain facilities year-round for RV travelers, though amenities may be limited during winter months. Cell reception varies throughout the region with Verizon and AT&T typically providing 2-3 bars at established RV parks. Navigation to some mountain campgrounds requires careful planning as narrow, winding roads with steep grades can challenge larger motorhomes. A reviewer cautioned about the approach to Twin Falls Resort State Park, noting "The road most map apps will send you to closes for part of the year. Even if you happen to come when it's open, take the longer route especially if you are in an RV." Propane services are limited, with only select campgrounds offering firewood and basic supplies.

      Pipestem Camping

We stayed in Site number 24 which is full hook ups, however, just about all of the sites number is one through 32 are less than desirable either very little room outside your camper or the back in sites are steep hard to level your camper and very little room to set a set of chairs out I would not camp in this area of the campground again.

      Twin Hollow Campground and Cabins

On top of a mountain. Gorgeous afternoon and evening views but The fog is dense in the mornings, which comes with a lot of dew, but completely worth it for the afternoon view. No shade trees at our site, but they are large and offer fire rings and picnic tables. Direct access to the happy McCoy trails. We rented just down the street the side-by-side for a couple of days and had a fantastic time.

      Breaks Interstate Park Campground

      Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!

We camped in pull-thru A43. The site is decently level and spacious. The other campers were very friendly. The bath house was modern and clean.

There was so much to do here! We ventured out to most of the overlooks; the views were breathtaking! There were plenty of hiking opportunities on trails from easy to difficult. Kayaks also were available for rent.

There is a hotel in the park, but it's far enough from the campgrounds (A, B, C, and D) that the guests don't bother the campers.

I can't imagine how glorious this place must be in the fall!

The Outpost at New River Gourge

One of the best stays near New River!

This campground provides an off the main road and in the woods experience. Tents have grassy spots and elevated platforms overlooking the area. There are several camper/RV spots along with cabins of various sizes. A calm creek runs through the property and within minutes of the New River National Park visitor center, downtown Fayetteville, and other adventure businesses.

Army Camp — New River Gorge National Park and Preserve

      Great Boondocking Spots

As others have reported, the 11 sites here are well maintained and spaced apart nicely. The road in is narrow and has a lot of low hanging limbs, so no big rigs here. It’s quiet apart from the sounds of the river and the bugs. Generators are allowed except for between 10p-6a. Verizon has no service here. Half the sites get decent exposure to charge the solar, the other half are mostly shade. The protected river bottom meant no breeze for the 5 nights we were here, so it remained hot and buggy. But overall it’s a great spot away from the madness. Most of the spots got filled every night during the week at the end of August with a lot of daily turnover, so arrive early.
