Best Campgrounds near Maidens, VA

I was unsure if I was in the right area. I never saw another person camping, but I did get out of my rig and ask a couple of people that were using brush hogs to mow with and they said Yep come on down here and just park wherever you want to as long as it’s not within 300 feet of the boat put in. Everything else is fair game, it’s for me being in the 29 foot classy. I opted to park it in a field/parking area at the entrance. I was the only one here all day.

We absolutely loved this park. We came here to dive at Lake Phoenix (they have a no pet policy this year) and have our pup with us. The staff was so nice. We were close to the front. They have full hookups. The sewage was a little weird to hookup but we figured it out. They have a bathhouse (we didn't use) a nice pool, laundry facilities, a little store, and trash in the back. The lake is beautiful and this was close to a lot of things. The front spot is are fully paved and require minimal leveling

We stayed here for one night for our travel home. Not far off i95, plenty of signage telling you where to go.

Once here it's tucked away nicely away from everything, sites feel spacious enough and mostly level on their own.

Pool facility looks clean and good size for all to enjoy. With a playground right next to it and a small mining operation for the kiddos.

Will likely be back to explore the area more!

This campground is underrated! Found this place by accident. Don’t let the name fool you, this place is the largest camp resort in the area. It has everything even a small grocery store.

We are winter residents having spent our first time this past year. We found the new owners and management very accommodating. Lot fee is reasonable. We found it quiet, pet friendly,and wooded off-road location. Looking forward to returning in the fall.

Booked last minute on a Wednesday night they had two openings. Sites are very spacious and good distance between other campers. Nice privacy. Large Bath house dump stations were great. Some sites were very level. We were on site seven which was very long but very unlevel. .

This is our second stay here. It is quiet and always clean, pet and family friendly. Trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. And if that’s not enough, you can go down to the river and fish, kayak/canoe or go boating.

My partner and I were traveling to Richmond, we needed a quick place to stop and rest. We reached out the day of and the owners of the property were so kind, accommodating, and understanding. They set us up with firewood, and all the necessary equipment to have a wonderful night under the stars. The icing on the cake was waking up and spending some time with their horses and goats and this really sweet orange cat. The property was gorgeous and the experience was wonderful.

Truly enjoyed this CG. Staff are very friendly and helpful CG is clean. Bathroom rooms are dated (compared to the ones at Twin Lakes State Park near Farmville, VA). The dump station is two-sided - helps on busy mornings when campers are leaving. Spent time touring the civil war sites around Petersburg. Lots of breweries in Richmond - a much needed place as a cold beer was very needed during the extreme heat occurring during my stay.
