    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Jellystone Park Chincoteague Island accommodates pets alongside tent sites, RV spaces, cabins, and glamping units, allowing campers to bring their furry companions while enjoying the coastal setting. Numerous campgrounds near Bloxom welcome pets, including Tom's Cove Park and Tall Pines/Chesapeake Bay KOA Holiday, both offering water and electric hookups for RV campers with dogs. Most local campgrounds maintain standard leash requirements with designated pet exercise areas. The tent sites at Tom's Cove Park provide solid options for pet owners seeking more primitive camping experiences. Maintenance staff are helpful but give campers space to enjoy their stay with pets. Campground stores typically stock pet essentials, though bringing supplies from home is recommended given the rural location.

Waterfront sites at Tall Pines Harbor create perfect opportunities for dogs that enjoy swimming, with beach access and fishing piers providing additional recreation options. Multiple pools and planned activities make this KOA location particularly suitable for families camping with pets, though mosquitoes can be problematic in low-lying areas after rain. Tent campers should select sites carefully, as some areas experience drainage issues during wet weather. Chincoteague Island's nearby beaches and trails offer excellent dog walking opportunities, though seasonal restrictions may apply. Many campsites include picnic tables and fire rings, creating comfortable spaces for evenings with pets. The gated entrance at Chincoteague Bay Trails End provides added security for campers concerned about pet safety.

      Love this place

What a great visit are having. Beautiful location with lots of space for everyone. Great beach and tiki bar. Pools for the family and very pet friendly. We stayed in the ‘big rig’ site within Club Castaway right on the water as we have a 40ft rig. Amenities are clean, staff friendly and helpful. Our dog, Daisy, loved the beach and the dog park and socialization w her pooch friends. Will be back.

      Huge campground!

We stayed here for 12 days during the pandemic. The campground is huge, with lots of amenities. We stayed in the large sites, in the last row beside the field, which was nice, gave extra parking and extra space to play. The spots for smaller campers looked difficult to find/park, but it was very empty so difficult to say. Nice dog park and dog beach.

      Bring bug spray!

Great park, awesome amenities. Would definitely go back. Price is not cheap but the amenities make it worth it. Can’t wait until the zip lining courses are back open. Stupid COVID!

Bugs were crazy bad in the dog park and the moisture rich tent areas. Bring bug spray or a flame thrower.

Point Lookout State Park - Temporarily Closed

      5 stars! Beautiful, clean, magical

Magical stay at Point Lookout — New Tulip Loop (Full Hook‑Up) and I’m already planning a return. The whole park feels peaceful and safe, the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and our site is clean and well‑maintained. The loop’s energy felt magical — quiet, restorative, and tucked into the trees so it felt private but not isolated. Full hookups were convenient and reliable; the site layout is roomy and pet‑friendly, with an easy walk to a beautiful dog beach so our pup had a blast. We walked to stunning beaches and spent afternoons watching water and sky at the tip of the peninsula — spectacular views where the Potomac meets the Chesapeake. The park’s Civil War history and lighthouse added fascinating, walkable sites to explore between beach time, giving the stay both recreation and depth. Clean facilities, helpful staff at the park office, and well-marked trails made everything low‑stress and enjoyable. If you want a peaceful, historic, pet‑friendly Class A spot with full hookups and gorgeous nearby beaches, Tulip Loop at Point Lookout is five stars from me.

Plenty of perks with little crowd!

This is our favorite campground! It is close enough to ocean city we can enjoy the beach daily but far enough to relax in the woods! This campground is the small sister campground to frontier town. They have a free shuttle bus to provide transportation to assateaque island, frontier town, and ocean city. Campers here are eligible for discounts at frontier town as well! We tent camp but there are RV sites and cabins as well. There is an arcade, camp store, heated pool, playground, dog park, and mini golfing! The main pavilion has rentals for recreational equipment at no extra cost (hula hoops, balls, etc.) There are also themed weekends and scheduled activities throughout the week! The bathhouses are cleaned many times a day and the showers are spacious enough. The staff here is friendly and welcoming. Each tent site is far enough away from the other that you feel spread out and private. This is definitely a place I recommend to friends and family.

      Shad Landing Campground

In 40 years of camping, this is the best campground!

Beautiful camping spot with all the amenities. Loops with electric or no electric, Pet-friendly loops and non-pet friendly loops. I have been camping there off and on for 40 years first as a kid and now with my family. I love to go there every year at all seasons of the year. The best campground I've ever found in Maryland. Close proximity to both Ocean City and Assateague Island.

      Beautiful campground

Beautiful campground. We were in Tulip loop with full hookups. Very private large sites. Wooded with tall pines. The stars were amazing! Could see the Milky Way and every star in the sky no light pollution. Nice beaches and pet beach for our dogs.

Bayside Assateague Campground — Assateague Island National Seashore

      Windy!

I stayed here for two nights during the week in late April 2019.

The weather in late April was generally OK, other than the wind.  The wind was so strong that none of my tent stakes would stay in the sand, and when I was finally able to secure a stake by putting something heavy on it, the wind ripped my guy rope.  Brutal.  I couldn't even start a campfire because the firepit was downwind and very close to my car and tent, and I didn't want them to go up in flames.

I guess the wild horses are OK, but I didn't find them particularly interesting.  They are definitely not very shy--one of them stuck his nose right in my tent.

I had my dog with me at this campground--IIRC the campgrounds in this park in VA are non-pet friendly, but the campgrounds in MD are pet-friendly (but I might have that backwards, so check their websites to make sure!).

      The Perfect campground

Title says it all! Great location, the friendliest and most helpful staff, beautiful surroundings, lots to do, kid and pet friendly

    Guide to Bloxom

Chincoteague Island KOA and Tall Pines/Chesapeake Bay KOA Holiday accommodate pets across their tent sites, RV spots, and cabin rentals, providing Eastern Shore camping options for dog owners. Both campgrounds feature full hookups with electric, water, sewer, and sanitary dump stations essential for extended stays with pets. Families camping with dogs particularly appreciate Tall Pines' waterfront sites that offer private walking areas behind campsites perfect for exercising pets. The campground's spacious pull-through sites provide ample room for RVs and pet exercise areas, though some visitors note standing water after rain can create mosquito issues requiring preventative measures.

Trails End Campground Resort in Horntown provides year-round pet-friendly camping with a gated entrance for added security. The resort features boat-in and walk-in access options alongside traditional drive-in camping, making it versatile for pet owners with different arrival preferences. Tom's Cove Park on Chincoteague offers waterfront sites where campers can observe wildlife and the Assateague lighthouse from their campsites. The campground's proximity to water provides excellent opportunities for dog exercise, though the park maintains a more basic, traditional camping experience compared to the amenity-rich KOAs. Seasonal considerations include October visits when mosquito populations decrease while maintaining good opportunities for wildlife viewing with pets. Most campgrounds in the region maintain standard leash requirements and request campers manage pet waste appropriately.
