Small islands dot the man-made reservoir and surrounding fields are either shades of green or snow-white. The magnificent Wasatch Mountain Range stretches heavenward and the mountains cradle the reservoir and small communities through which the byway passes in their gentle valleys.

Granite Flat Campground is located a short distance up scenic American Fork Canyon, less than a mile from Tibble Fork Reservoir. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing and exploring local trails.
Nearby Tibble Fork and Silver Flat Reservoirs offer canoeing, kayaking and fishing for rainbow, brook and brown trout. A portion of the north shore at Tibble Fork is accessible. Both reservoirs are open only to non-motorized watercraft. Scuba divers frequent Tibble Fork's south shore. Timpanogos Cave National Monument is just a few miles down American Fork Canyon, with a rewarding but steep 1.5-mile hike to a guided tour of the spectacular three-room cave system. The trail offers beautiful views of American Fork Canyon. American Fork Creek can be accessed 3 miles south. A favorite among fly-fisherman, the creek has light pressure for stocked rainbow trout. The 20-mile paved Alpine Loop Scenic Byway passes just a few miles from the campground, traveling through alpine canyons, mountain meadows, aspen groves and pine forests, with breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range. This road is not recommended for vehicles over 30 feet in length. Timpanogos and Lone Peak Wilderness Areas are nearby, offering a myriad of additional hiking and biking opportunities.

We stayed in a yurt and it was an amazing experience! The yurt had a cozy gas powered fireplace. It got down to about 30 degrees but we were actually too hot. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Woke up to deer outside our yurt. Great experience!

This is a great place to take a small group for some winter backcountry fun not far from the city. There are more remote yurt options around, but this one feels pretty remote with its 2.5 mile hike in. It does tend to fill up fast so book early. It has a spacious bunk area with a nice wood burning stove that keeps everything toasty during the cold nights. Grab the gang and have a great time.

Rockport State park in Utah, at the Crandall Cove sites. Sites are well kept, the reservoir is really low. Hiking is nice. Bike trails are well kept. $25 per nite, no hook ups in this section, but up in Juniper section they have hook-ups, $35

This park is a great stopover on your way through Utah or weekend visit. The lake is clean and still very natural. The swans circling the water are something to see. Lots of shade rustic but serviceable showed. A bit pricy at 30 a night but right off the highway and no real traffic noise.

This campground is well maintained and nestled into some nice pine trees in view of the backside of Mount Timpanogos, it is divided into 3 areas, one of which has horse corrals. While there are many campgrounds in Utah that rival it, this one is special because it's such a short drive after work.
GuideThis was a beautiful campground. Very nice. I love how it is near a river. You can hear it at night. It's so nice to get to a cool area out of the hot valley and into the cool scenic back country of Utah county. Bathrooms were fresh non out house smelling for sure. Highly recommended.

Absolutely awesome spot. Hosts were really friendly. Stayed in my pop up camper for a night and there was tons of space for pop up and our site (A1) was the best in the campground, I think. It was secluded with tons of trees. Not all sites had a lot of tree cover. It wasn’t right off the river but it was still only a 30 second walk to the river. There were fire bans in Utah but because of the type of fire set up on concrete and built in fire places, we were able to have a fire all night which was awesome. Also my buddy is a professional singer and brought his guitar so I’m impartial. We had such a great time!!

This is super close to my favorite mountain bike ride in Northern Utah - The Wasatch Crest Trail. As you can tell in the pictures, this area is very lush and rich with pine trees. It stays relatively cool, even in the summer time. One of the best reasons to stay here is for the mountain biking though. There's nothing like riding a bike through deep dark forests, soaring mountains, and stretching meadows riddled with flowers. Doughnut Falls is also a very worthy destination if you don't like mountain biking. It is a family friendly hike we've done many times with a three year old, especially considering how rewarding the waterfall payoff is at the end! Highly recommend camping in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Utah is such an amazing place to visit for the outdoors. My family and I come here once a year because we love hiking and being in the outdoors. This place was great and provided us a place to stay for a few nights before making the long drive home. There are some great hikes nearby that I highly recommend. We went on a 10 mile round trip hike one of the mornings and the views were incredible. The campground was great, and the campsites were awesome. Each campsite is separated by trees so you feel like you have some privacy which we really loved. There is a great burger joint nearby that I recommend going too. We ate here twice!
TravelerOverall, the facility is neat and clean for a campground. My visit was at the end of the 4th weekend, so some messes were expected. My campsite was in good shape upon setting up my 30ft trailer. All sites are back-in and mostly flat asphalt. A little rig leveling might be needed. The outside of the loop at Dixie C.G. is electric and water only. The inside of the loop has full hook-ups.
All sites have long, sturdy metal tables and a metal cover over a concrete pad. A fire pit was adjacent. Even with fire restrictions almost everywhere else in Utah, wood fires were permitted in the provided pit. Common area toilets are well maintained, containing flush toilets and running water. Most service buildings also contain free showers.
A one-star deduction is due to the effects of climate change, which is out of the Park's control to an extent. That said, my beef is with maintenance of the beach - a nice beach by the way. It's obvious where the historical water level use to be. Wish I could have seen the reservoir full because it may never happen again. But I digress. I think the park should rake or scrape the beach surface to remove offensive weeds and people's discards. That takes workers, budget and equipment. My guess is our State representatives lack interest to fund state parks for such mediation measures. It would greatly enhance the visual appeal and safety for families at the water's edge.

GuideThere are not any trees in this camp site, so it is really hot. The cows and lambs are all around. There is a little store at the East Canyon resort, that is just up the road. The water access isn’t super easy, the campground is a little higher than the beach
GuideClose to Favis and Weber counties, this is a great place for 1 or 2 night stays. We usually stay here every spring. The campground is a short walk to the "beach." There is a great picnic area between the boat ramp and campground. In the spring the water is right up near it. Later in the summer, the water goes down and there is a real nice beach for kids to play. Not many trees but pretty good campground.
TravelerWe went during the summer and had a great time. The views were perfect and the lake is active with choice of water fun rentals. The site is standard with a small lawn area and a pavilion. Bathrooms are onsite as well as showers. Pet friendly but need to be on a leash at all times. Great for RV’s as power and water is present on each site.

Spot 19 is in the middle and seems to have a good view regardless of who is parked in adjacent spots, and spot 32 also seems to have a good view and the advantage of being on the outer edge so no backdoor neighbors. Park has a general store but we did not go inside.
Bathrooms/showers are decent with sufficient hot water.
Food aside: Had freeze-dried coconut curry chicken with extra Wal Mart packet of chicken added and it was good and low FQ (fart quotient). Also had chicken teriyaki with chicken packet added. Always add garlic powder, perhaps smoked paprika.

LegendThe state park is on the northeast shore of the lake and features lots of good fishing as well as picnic areas and some exposed hot hiking trails. Water level has been steadily dropping here as with most waterbodies in the state this year but good sized smallmouth bass can be caught. Landed a few little ones that we ended up cooking whole. A great place to spend a really hot day if you have a boat to take out on the water

GuideYou need to reserve sites here well in advance as it fills up for the entire Summer as soon as the reservation window opens. It is very clean and well maintained! We loved that we could bring the jet skis right over to the beach at the campground and also that they have a dog beach. We had a fantastic view from our site.
ScoutThis was a really nice place for only being 40 mins from the city. Good beach front not a far walk from our campsite. Lots of trees to hang your hammocks up on. If you have some water toys it’s awesome because you can anchor them on the shore or the dock.
