Arrived after midnight and opted for a spot closer to the entrance as it was more leveled." Dump stations, showers, and laundry facilities vary by location, with higher-rated resorts typically offering more comprehensive amenities.

    Mountain Shadows RV Park

    Perfect overnight stay for us

We are a 40 foot with a tow. We only stayed here over night as we were passing through. Place was clean, friendly staff, spacious sites, ours had nice grass, dog friendly. Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall. This would be a great long term or a it’s a very easy on off expressway stop. High recommend

    Washington Lake Campground

A very popular, family friendly, beautiful campground.

We stayed for 7 nights (the limit) in August of 2023. It's all paved, asphalt road and concrete pad for picnic table. Very beautiful setting with the large lake and mountains surrounding. Fishing-yes! Hand powered boating, hiking trails and lots of other lakes to explore.

There no water available but you can fill your RV, Trailer or whatever at the entrance to the Lost Creek CG which is about 3 miles east on Hwy 150. No Dump station, nearest being in Kamas.

Seems to be a popular place for local (SLC) families to gather. Family friendly so lots of kids. Quiet time 10PM to 6AM.

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Hill AFB FamCamp

    Cute little spot

Great amenities, dog park, showers, laundry. Stayed here long term a couple times and it’s always a great stay! Close to the park, splash pad, and track. Hosts are pleasant. A little close together but good for being on base.

    Golden Spike RV Park

Great RV Spot Close to the Interstate

This an wonderful medium sized RV campground that is totally locally owned so you know your stay will go towards benefiting local families!  That and given its proximity to the Interstate make it the closest and easiest RV campground to get to near Brigham City/Perry.  It is a perfect stopping point if you're looking at having all the comforts of home before heading into the mountains or into the towns nearby.  Amenities include a full laundry and bathroom in addition to cable TV and Wi-Fi.  They owners are on the property year round and is a very safe place to stay.  There are 38 sites that have 30 and 50 amp hookup options in addition to water.  Definitely visit this RV campground over the nearby KOA as it supports local businesses!!!

If you want to spend time out in nature there is the nearby Bird Refuge, and Great Salt Lake.  To the north and northwest of here there lies the amazing Devils Playground and the namesake of the campground which is the Golden Spike National Historic Site in which the rail lines from the east and west met.  To the east there are numerous canyons to choose from in case the days are too sweltering hot to stay in the valleys

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

Guide to Morgan

RV campgrounds near Morgan, Utah offer a variety of access options with nearby national forest lands and mountain terrain. Most sites sit at elevations between 4,500-6,000 feet, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F during peak season. Weather patterns can change quickly in this mountainous region, with afternoon thunderstorms common during summer months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Echo Island RV Resort provides access to fishing on property. "There's a walking trail that runs along the Weber river and a dog run on the eastern part of the property," notes one visitor to Riverside RV Resort. Several campgrounds feature small ponds suitable for families.

Biking access: Multiple RV parks connect to regional bike paths. A visitor to Park City RV Resort states, "You have direct access to the bike path that leads directly into Old Town Park City and links you with lots of other trails."

Recreation rentals: Some resorts provide on-site equipment rentals. "We were also able to rent a Razor UTV on site and took a mapped out 4 hr drive through our beautiful mountains, straight out of the campground," reports a camper at Mountain Valley RV Resort.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many parks prioritize cleanliness in common areas. "Very clean RV park. The sites, streets, and pads, all in excellent condition. Everything looks new," mentions a visitor to Riverside RV Resort.

Pool access: Swimming pools rank highly among summer visitors. A camper at Mountain Valley RV Resort appreciates that "There are three pools, three shower houses, and three laundry rooms. This is a great place for kids because there's plenty of space for them to ride bikes, play basketball, swim, and also a playground."

Reliable hookups: Full hookups function well at established parks. "We had 30/50a options, WiFi, water & sewer at our site," shares a visitor at Riverside RV Resort, while another notes "Sites are asphalt and VERY long & level—with a strip of grass and some rock gravel."

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most parks fill quickly, especially on weekends and holidays from May through September. Walk-up availability remains limited throughout the summer.

Location considerations: Highway proximity creates noise issues at some parks. "It is a lovely place. Located between the interstate and a railroad. Pretty quiet surprisingly," explains a visitor to Riverside RV Resort.

Fire restrictions: Several area RV parks prohibit wood fires. "They ask the age and type when making reservations. Good Sam discounts apply," notes a visitor at Mountain Valley RV Resort, which allows propane fire pits but not wood burning.

Tips for camping with families

Playground availability: Family-friendly parks feature dedicated play areas. "Such a fun place! They had a small pond for kids to fish in, two swimming pools and two hot tubs, very clean and modern facilities, well maintained campsites with fire pit," comments a visitor to Echo Island RV Resort.

Equipment borrowing: Some resorts loan recreation items. A camper at Echo Island RV Resort mentions they "have dvds and sports equipment you can check out."

Safety features: Parks with controlled entry provide additional security. "Gated entry is a plus for me, and the staff is so kind and welcoming," notes a guest at Valley View RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Specific site areas offer advantages. At Park City RV Resort, a visitor advises, "The bottom level has more PHUs and tent camping on nicer, grassy plots with the creek surrounding."

Site preparation: Weather impacts site conditions. "Park sites are gravel & track dirt into rv. Forget the pet area, it is apparent that picking up after your pet is not enforced. Septic hookup is at the back of the site so hopefully you have a long hose," reports an RVer at Phillips RV Park.

Elevation considerations: Mountain roads require driving caution. Air conditioner use varies by location and elevation, with units in higher elevation parks often unnecessary due to cool evening temperatures.
