Hello! We are so excited that you are interested in staying at The River Bottom. This property is 132 acres of prairie land, trees, a pond, a river, creeks, and wildlife. We can accommodate one RV with electricity hookups but no water hookups. We can host van lifers or people who want to drive in and hike to a primitive camp spot. We have a fire pit and a lovely seating area near the house. The rest of the land is primitive, so you can park and hike in the property to find a nice spot to camp out. There is minimal light pollution, and stargazing is a must! If you're quiet enough, you might see some deer or other incredible wildlife. There are several excellent options if you stay for one night or a couple of nights.

    Fantastic Little Find

I car camped here while passing through TX in a tent site, and I found the peninsula-like campground gorgeous! Lake views, deer, and a well-kept bathhouse just feet away. Spots are close together with few trees around, although few others were around.

Speaking of relaxing, if you're looking to pass the time while you're enjoying the serene vibes, I highly recommend checking out the Traffic Rider app. It's a fun and immersive way to experience motorbike riding through beautiful landscapes, just like the ones around the park! Copperas Creek COE in Comanche, TX (Lake Proctor) Site #63 50 amp Full hook up Back-in site March 2024

Beautiful park! The lady working the gate should have her picture in the dictionary under customer service. Very pleasant & welcoming!

The site has lots of shade trees with a view of the lake (not lakeside). Sites are not on top of each other, but no type of barrier between sites. Water had a terrible smell.

Despite it being the beginning of spring break in Texas & the amount of people here, it is fairly quiet.

If you’re camping with others, there are 3 double RV sites on this end of the park.

Would definitely come back here again. — at Copperas Creek Park.

    Family & adult friendly

We screwed up and booked a different spot and our camper was too long. Oakdale was able to accommodate us on short notice. The staff was friendly and informative. Our kids had a great time in the expansive pool and enjoyed the snow cone stand across the street. The adult enjoyed the well-stocked pool bar!

    Very Nice Small State Park

There may not be a lot of trails, but they are very nice.  The sites are oddly level, even though they do not look like they would be.

Site 01 is a great spot, that feels about the most secluded.

Watch out for all the spider webs on the trails,  if you hike early in the morning...  We camped at Meridian State Park in a 28 foot Travel Trailer.

    Giants in the Mist

    Dinosaur Valley SP

So wanted to see the dinosaur tracks! But it rained before we arrived and they were all under water. The trails on the other side of the river were all closed, mud and treacherous terrain. The inner trail takes you along the river and has several signs with information. The campsites are nestled in the foliage and nice spacing between. You can totally get the crustaceous era feel going. The foliage is also a nice noise damper. Electric and water plus hook thing at each site. Didn’t see any modern time critters during our visit, there were raccoon tracks on the trails and one deer track. Easy ride (bike) road through the campground. Older but well maintained showerhouse. The primitive camping is right on the river and remote sites are available. Dinosaur World is right down the road which would be cool with kids. Go learn about and then actually walk where the dinosaurs did. I am totally visiting again, I want to see the tracks.

    Big Rig Friendly

This is a down home friendly place within minutes of anything you need in Stephenville, Texas. It has two full bathrooms complete with showers, work out room, washer and dryers and an area for meetings. An outside area under a huge pecan tree with small tables and chairs for hanging out with friends. There is a walking trail that’s not quite a half a mile. Two huge dog areas with lots of grass. The owners are super friendly and will respond to your needs.

    Okay for day use

I’ve been here many times. They used to have a pool here years ago. Now they have a very small water park called splashville, which is great for families with children. They do have a several amenities such as tennis courts, playgrounds, an amphitheater, pavilions, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a paved walking trail, disc golf etc. I’ve camped here a couple times because I didn’t have anywhere else to go, but I wouldn’t really recommend it for camping/hiking/sightseeing, etc. The Bosque River runs through it but it’s no good for swimming because it’s nasty. There’s often lots of trash. Not really a pretty park by any means.

nice spot, nice owners, nice bathroom!

the place is cute! I have no cell service with ATT, but there’s wifi so that’s fine! if it’s busy, campsites are relatively close together, but there are lots of little areas to get privacy. there’s a single bathroom with a code to get in. it has a nice shower, a space heater, and two sinks. if you’ve been camping, it’s a great respite from roughing it. it’s just next to the colorado river, with a nice view of the regency bridge. $20 for primitive camping. recommend!
